A hooded figure moved stealthily down the street in the Eiler business district, the offices governing the purchase of real estate the furtive figure's destination. In time her return would be common knowledge, she knew. Having been the Editor in Chief of the Chronicle at one point she was well aware how quickly gossip spread in this world though she doubted her presence would cause much of a stir, to be honest. Most who knew her were long gone and those who might oppose her were either dead or of no consequence. For the time being, however, she chose to operate outside of the public eye.
Aleris had clearly undergone a great catastrophe in her absence but restoration efforts were already under way that much was obvious. There did not appear to be anywhere on Aleris that had survived the wars save Heruin and Arthuran and she had no intention of living in either godforsaken place. Eiler was her preference as far as the remaining two continents and after researching the cities it boasted she had settled upon Joi.
Granted that particular city had been swamped by tidal waves but that was precisely why she chose it. The plans for salvaging the city from the ocean's wrath involved the construction of various canals and bridges to allow the citizens of Joi to continue living in their beloved home in spite of the water that now covered it. From what she had seen it was very like where she had grown up in Venice which appealed to her instantly as well as the oceanic water surrounding the area. Though she may not be able to build there until the reconstruction was done she intended to purchase the desired land in Joi now, before anyone else had the same idea.
The land office ahead she stepped into the pool of light provided by the street lantern stationed in front of it, hands rising to pull the deep hood of the dark blue velvet cloak she wore forward, hiding her features and masking her midnight black hair from view. Stepping through the door to the office she closed it gently behind her, the young clerk behind the desk looking up in mild surprise at the appearance of a visitor this time of night.
Stepping to the desk she placed a parchment containing her elegantly scrawled script detailing her desired purchase along with a small sack holding the required gold.
”I wish to purchase land in the city of Joi, please.”
Upon the parchment in front of the clerk was a written request to purchase land on the Continent of Eiler (Square M) in the City of Joi (f down, Plots 20 and 21) for a total of two plots. Assuring her the request for purchase would be filed with the appropriate officials she inclined her head and silently turned away, leaving as unobtrusively as she had arrived yet still leaving a palpable wake as the boy gaped after her. Looking down at the parchment once she had gone he searched the information she'd provided hoping to find out who she was.
When he found it the name she'd given was simply... La Sirena
