Races
Here you will find a list of the races currently roaming the lands of Aleris. Though some may be exclusive to different lands, any are open for you to base your character on. If your character does not fall in any one of the races below, that does not mean you can't use it. This is just a reference sheet to help build characters.
Please note that a lot of characters have more than once race and that is fine. You can be part angel and part elf (or any combination of races) that you would like to be. However, do keep in mind that character complexity may not always be the best choice!

Angelics
Angelics are mostly human in appearance with feathered wings upon their backs. They are usually balanced in either light or dark magic, preferring one over another. Colors of feathers can vary, though it is more common to see white or black feathered wings.
Types of Angelics: Angels, Dark Angels, Cherubs, etc
Demons
Demons tend to dwell in places and things that not many others would dare too. They are often seen as violent creatures and can assume the form of humans as a sort of trickery to their prey. Demons are usually skilled fighters caring not so much for living, but rather the bloodlust of combat. They have many different body types - from bestial to more human like. One of the more common Demon types are the Incubus and its female counterpart, the Succubus - creatures that are able to walk into the subconscious and feed off their victims in the nightmare world.
Dragons
Dragons are ancient and mystical beasts. Covered in armored scales from head to toe, Dragons are typically great in size, though some rare breeds have been known to be very small, almost pixie like. It is a difficult feat to take down a Dragon; nevertheless, their types are very few these days. To see a Dragon in some places may be considered both an honor and a fright. Dragons are often very wise, but as far as socially, they can vary a great deal. Some may be temperamental and prefer to be alone, while others enjoy the company of people and telling stories.
Elves
Elves are typically seen to frequent forests and become rangers, as they are more partial to respecting nature and its many forces. The Elven race has also been known to develop their own language. Some are also said to be able to speak to all things connected with nature, such as animals or even trees.
Types of Elves: Light Elf, Dark Elf, Middle Elf, Drow
Fae Folk
Fae Folk range from a variety of species. Fae Folk can often be seen as very mischievous and troublesome to lost travelers. However, there are some species in this category that have been known to be quite useful and tolerable companions. These creatures sometimes have the ability of shape shifting their sizes at will or momentarily turning into the form of another person.
Types of Fae Folk: Fairies, Pixies, Imps, Goblins, Fauns, etc.
Half Breeds
Half Breeds can be a number of combinations of two races, usually seen as human and animal. Having two races usually gives you the benefits and disadvantages of both, though some half breeds have been known to overcome the disadvantages. Half breeds usually appear human and have some animalistic features, like tails or ears. Half Breeds differ from Therianthropes, because they usually do not change form by any force; they simply live in their half human/half animal state day by day.
Types of Half Breeds: Cat People, Tiger People, etc
Humans
Humans make up most of the population in Aleris. Though many of them will never grow as strong as the more magical races, most are content with living life as everyday normal folk. However, there are some Humans that excel beyond the ordinary and are able to become great healers, mages, or fighters. Humans are very versatile in what they choose to do, as long as they have enough passion to follow through.
Shapeshifters
Shapeshifters are usually born with a human form to call their own. However, they have the ability to easily assume the form of whatever living thing they wish. As a small hinder to this amazing ability, most Shapeshifters have to study the forms they change into in order to grasp how it feels to be the subject. Shapeshifters cannot change into non-living objects like a table or painting; forcing one's body into this would cause instant death.
Therianthropes
The most common type of Therianthrope would be the Werewolf. Werewolves are the dominant species in this class and once changed into their wolven form by moonlight, they possess an enormous amount of strength. While the wolven type may be the most popular breed, people have also recorded sightings of other Therianthropes.
Undead
Most Undead classes would typically not have feelings or will of their own; they are usually summoned by some other person to carry out the caster's bidding.
Types of Undead: Ghosts, Zombies, Banshees, etc
Vampires
Vampires may be one of the oldest and proudest races, next to humans. Most Vampires belong to a family and come from long lineages. Vampires sustain themselves on drinking blood for food. They mostly tend to avoid the sun, though it has been noted that some can walk under the rays without being harmed. Vampires have also been known to have great strength and minor shapeshifting abilities usually into wolves, bats or even mist. However, there are also many vampires that come from much lesser families and are equal too leeches or zombies.
