Aleris is a land full of magic and endless possibilities. I am constantly surprised by the new discoveries in this realm, however, Valorius Malku's (Bel Telal of Heruin) glowing green arm has thrown me for a loop. I've heard it has something to do with self sustaining energy which apparently is Valorius' so-called power source. Nevertheless, there are quite a few of us that believe that Valorius' green arm is the result of the Bel Telal well... enjoying himself a little too much, if you know what I mean. The theory is that the friction is generating some sort of manly power source to Valorius' arm hence the abnormal green glow. There are, of course, reasons behind these thoughts. One of them being that the man seems awfully frustrated lately. People have reported they saw Valorius walking around gritting his teeth and clenching his fists, possibly trying to control outbursts. Perhaps Ameerah Sultan, Padishah of Heruin, hasn't been helping him out in the bedroom lately?
Speaking of glowing things, Tempesturo has chosen a new Champion to help protect his beloved continent, Heruin. Some of us are questioning Tempesturo's judgment though, especially when his newfound Champion is a skeleton. After all, how could a skeleton possibly carry out the will of Tempesturo and protect Heruin? Here at The Chronicle we are aware that Tempesturo has even given an armor enchanted with flames to the skeleton. This armor will supposedly protect the Champion and help aid him in his quests. I still have one piece of advice though, Mr. Bag of Bones. I would avoid any contact with dogs otherwise you might find yourself short a few pieces of your skeleton.
Many people are curious about the secrets regarding King Elias' seemingly eternal youth. So there's substantial proof that this "youngster" is the true King of Aleris, but why isn't he sharing the fountain with us? Some say that Elias' youthful appearance is just the work of an excellent doctor that is hiding out there in Aleris and that there's nothing magical about it. Whether we ever know what the recipe to eternal youth is or not, King Elias is here to stay and we've been informed that it's perfectly acceptable for him to stay up past his bed time and partake in wine and ale if he so chooses. Consequently, this has caused a certain uproar amongst Alerian teenagers who state that they should be given the same privileges of our King since they're the same age. If you ask me, these vagrants just need a good spanking and need to be sent to bed without their cookies and milk.
Now that I've mentioned cookies and milk, that reminds me to bring up the situation between Lady Layla Victoire and now Lord of Arthuran, Verial Akilara. Previously in one of our Rumor Has It articles, we mentioned that these two had hooked up and were trying to hide it behind the scenes. Well, the curtain has been lifted and it looks like Mr. Akilara has thoroughly angered Ms. Victoire. As a result, he won't be getting any sweets from her any time soon. In a way, we can't blame Layla. Verial Akilara's behavior has been suspicious lately. There's quite a few rumors circulating like... he killed a soldier while trying to protect the opposing army's leader, that he shacked up with the dark goddess on the night of the war and last but not least, that he might have had some hand in Deanna DiCorvino's escape. Talk about priorities.
No matter if it's speculation or fact, there's one crucial piece of advice we'd like to give to Layla Victoire in her state of "grief". There's a time to act like a lady and there's a time to act like a complete bitch. Bariston needs you, Layla, so perhaps it would be best to pack your things and head back home since your people actually need a Lady. We don't speak for Aleris as a whole, but... Grand City doesn't have extended vacancy for a blood-thirsty and money-hungry woman. I mean, we did just get done dealing with a self-proclaimed goddess of darkness and chaos.
Unfortunately, it seemed that Layla's reign of terror or general bitchy-ness (whatever you want to call it), has funneled down to her once personal healer, advisor and close friend, Sahar. Layla's aggressiveness towards the desert magae has been unrestrained. Some say the Lady of Bariston is angry because Sahar did not carry out some secret mission to stop Verial Akilara from doing whatever it was that he was doing these last few weeks. In any case, it seems Sahar has failed and this ultimately made Layla reject her previously close companion. A few reported that this has had the healer from Elved crying herself to sleep at night wondering if she's going to be able to find a job at Aleris' employment office. We've heard word that she sought comfort from an unlikely "animal", Alastair Bluefield, who eventually just turned tail and fled after she offered her friendship to him. At The Chronicle, we want to ensure Miss Sahar that better days are just around the corner. If you ever need some hugs, feel free to look me up in Grand City, although we also know that you're off to Arthuran with Verial Akilara. Unfortunately, I don't think this choice will get you any hugs any time soon. I'm frowning over here. Really I am.
Last but not least, this article wouldn't be complete without mentioning the infamous arraki that's been floating around Grand City lately. The demon known as Soul appears to be a general nuisance and causing trouble throughout the land. Some say he's connected with strange multiple personalities, one of them having access to a spine as a weapon? Clearly, I'm confused. Anyway, it seems like Soul is unable to make up his mind whether he's against Aleris or for it. He was last seen helping out a bunch of orphans. Soul went so far as to make them dinner, change any soiled diapers, tuck them all in and then read them a bed time story around a fire. The arraki has taken up playing nurse maid and while his intentions may seem noble, one thing is for certain: Soul is going through a mid-life crisis. While caring for lost and lonely children is never a bad thing, perhaps he should have just bought himself that shiny new gryphon mount instead.
That's all the dirt I have to dig up and share for now. Until the next time folks...
That's the rumor.
