He wasn't sure if his words would have the effect he hoped they would on the shifter, but he felt a bit better just having gotten them out. Now he only hoped that he hadn't angered her enough to kill him in his sleep.

The bon fire rose high into the night sky of D’dear-Lawg where stars glowed and the double moons Lledu and Llorena, Lledu reflected a bright orange and Llorena a dark blue. Naiklamuu stared at the moons from his throne of troll bones. The creature had been nearly thirty feet tall and covered in monstrous grey slabs of flesh, it had been quite a fight but the nick in the spine where Naiklamuu’s battle axe had taken its life was a reminder of the power of Orcken-graten. The troll had been rearranged in a sitting position and he resided with his head placed back between its ribs watching the festivities.

It was the day before harvest and the celebration of the promise of plentiful crops brought out the fun in the giant beasts. The Orcken-graten stood between ten and twelve arms tall and weighed between seven hundred and fifteen-hundred stone. Their fur covered bodies’ move and dance snouts full of sharp teeth opening in hearty laughter.

Naiklamuu smiled into the cow skull full of hearty mead before taking a long drink. An entire cow spun on a spit over a small fire juices glistening on the fleshless beast as it cooked. Bright orange eyes which the slim and slender females of ten feet tall, their breasts swinging freely in the night air as they pawed at each other and males. He licks his snout inhaling the sweet scent of heat as male and female paired off, there were would be many cubs come next season.

He scratches himself in an anticipation of the night to come; being the tribe leader had many benefits, one of which was first pick of a mate. Sryialyii was off to his right looking at him seductively the smell of her heat permeating the air. A human refills his cow’s skull with mead before slinking back to its place behind his throne.

Humans had been almost wiped from the planet a thousand years before by the Orcken-graten and the Lusgiad, the reptiles from the north. They only remained as slaves to the two races though there were rumors that in the frozen south they remained hidden from everything else. Though Naiklamuu doubted that a human could survive in the troll land for very long, the trolls were more savage than the Orcken-graten at least his race was a bit civilized.

He takes another long drink of mead just as a lone young Orcken-graten step to the bonfire, the scent of aggression pushing through the scent of heat bringing the laughing and nuzzling to a halt. Naiklamuu puts down his cows head and stands slowly lifting his fifteen hundred stone forms from the lap of the dead troll. His orange eyes watch the young one, who barely stands ten arms high.

“Does something bother you young one?” He stalks forward fur covered shoulders pressed out to make himself look bigger. He wears nothing but a human skin satchel across his chest, shoulder to shoulder. Large white muttonchops sprout from his leathery cheeks contrasting against the dark grey of the rest of his body.

“You have served as tribe leader for nearly a hundred seasons. It is new time for a new tribe leader. My humans were taken by the Lusgiad and you did nothing! I wish to claim your title, bradwr!” The insult drove Naiklmauu forward with a roar three inch long canines digging into the young-ones shoulder. The smaller creature lands a blow in his stomach but it does not drive him off.
To call an Orcken-graten a coward was an insult that reigned high above all, to utter it meant certain death to one of the combatants. The young ling claws at his midsection with sharpened nails but his hide was rough, calloused with a century of fighting. His arms wrap around the smaller being and his elbows begin to tighten.

The softer grey fur of the youngling is soon covered in his own blood and Naiklamuu releases the body to fall to the ground. Every season a new one stepped forward with its own reasons and every season so far Naiklamuu had killed the challenger in fewer than fifteen breaths.
“Roast his body, we shall feast on his sweet flesh and let this remind you all that I am Naiklamuu the greatest tribe leader to ever be fall the giant trees of D’dear-Lawg!” He roars turning back to his throne as the younglings body was dragged away to be skinned and roasted. He reaches out and grabs Syrialyii pulling her small form to him, the scent of her heat even more after the combat. She had loved to see her mate so strong and powerful knowing that his born children were some of the strongest the Orcken-graten had ever seen.

Naiklamuu had bred fifteen sons and twelve daughters and he knew one day one of the sons would probably be the one to take his life and his throne it would be one of his proudest moments. He pulls Syrialyii to his lap where is already hard his member poking out from under its sheath of hide. Syrialyii reaches up and grabs onto the ribs of the troll and in front of the tribe they breed.

A Lusgiad patrol watches the camp as they celebrate, the nine foot tall reptiles shaking their snake like heads, heat pits going crazy from all the bodies. “They celebrate unknowing of what is to come.”

The others dark brown scales glint in the far off fire light, the Orcken-graten gathered every season for this festival and it had made it very easy to amass an ambush force in the jungle to the east.“We shall no longer rest in their shadow brother today we enslave the Orcken-graten and their human pets and then tomorrow the trolls of the south.”

Gii’s tongue slips between his lips tasting the air, “When do we strike?”

Bij turns his dark brown head to his brother, slit eyes narrowing. “Give the order, they will be in the middle of their breeding the males will be spent and the females in their comas. The Orcken-graten sperm was very potent and adaptable, the fetus usually began to grow within the first day knocking the females into breeding comas for a week as their body adapted to the rapidly growing being inside of them.

Gii hisses his consent slipping a dragon shaped helm over his arrowhead shaped skull. He lifts a long narrow tube to his scaled lips and blows a long hiss that spreads out over the jungle, answered by others. His light tan scales lift slightly with excitement in his armor, “It has begun..”

Syrialyii lay on the ground next to the troll bone throne her body resting after the spilling of seed inside of her; already a cub was being formed. Naiklamuu rests on his throne staring out the other couples who were all resting or passed out. The tents spread for a league before disappearing from view. A hundred thousand Orckengraten were sprawled across the plain before him the largest chunk of their race. To the east a hundred miles was another such camp ran by Eliadytee one of his many siblings but there was no blood love between brothers or sons and fathers. Yes one of his sons killing him would make him proud but until then they were all beneath him.

He lifts the cow’s skull to his lips and finishes the mead within. Motioning to the cooked carcass of his challenger, his human slave, unnamed, goes to the beast and uses a long knife to the ribs and cuts off a long piece. He brings the piece back to Naiklamuu his fingers dripping with grease, he bows as he hands it toward the tribe leader.

Naiklamuu takes the two arm long strand of flesh and chews on it thoughtfully. The harvest tomorrow would be a large one, the fruits and grain growing to the west had been extra fruitful this year. They would sell half of that to Luisgad for a large amount of cattle and human slaves. Once the harvest was done half of the tribe would head south to troll hunt while the other half tended the slaves and crops. There was not much to do in D’dear-Lawg especially since the only Luisgad city the Orckengraten were allowed in was Fyriti. Once they had tried to build their own cities but every tribe leader tore down the work done before. The tribe leader two removed from Naiklamuu had put an end to the madness.

They did inhabit old human cities when they came upon them but not much was left now that nature had taken its course. Naiklamuu finishes the piece of meat picking at his teeth with a claw his ears twitching, something he heard. He tilts his head sniffing; the smell of horse permeating the camp, horses only meant one thing.

“Up! Luisgad!” He roars the sound carrying across the open plain tired Orckengraten pulling themselves from their slumber.

The sound of hooves stomping fills the camp and suddenly the lizard men are upon them riding their stallions into the camp, lances taking unaware Orckegraten in the chest and arrows falling upon their heads. Syrialyii takes five arrows through the chest as she laid Naiklamuu roaring into the night in anger. He bounds from the throne grabbing his great war axe from the ground. The weapon is fifteen arms long and double headed the blackened steel blades each the size of a large human male’s torso. He swings the weapon one handed, the simple ironwood shaft blackened with tar. The blade catches a horse in its breast plate shattering the bone and slicing the front legs from the shoulders as the animal screams.

The Luisgad lifts its iron shield up as Naiklamuu delivers a solid kick into the being. The seven arm tall creature flings backward into the bon fire its long scaled tail swinging wildly as it burns screaming with its horse. He looked past the dead horse seeing glinting of a thousand sets of armor followed by even more. The Orckengraten were fighting but the females were indisposed and dying in their sleep, even if they won the battle hundreds if not thousands of cubs would be lost this evening.

The tribe leader throws his axe landing it right into plate armor the heavy weapon piercing both mail and the lizard as though it was soft cheese. His paws, the size of a tortoise shell latch around a horse charging by stopping the animal and throwing its rider. The dragon helmed lizard rolls to his feet gracefully, tail balancing him as a long sword is drawn from its scabbard. Gii stares at the Orckengraten leader with fear the horses running past him paying him no mind.

Naiklamuu snaps the struggling animal’s neck with on quick movement and drops the animal holding its head up with one hand. He drags the body toward the Luisgad who takes a swing with his iron sword. The blade smacks into the thick hide of Naiklamuu and glances off taking with it two or three dark grey hairs. Orange eyes stare down at the much smaller being whom swings the blade again. A large paw wraps around the blade topping it in its tracks the metal struggling to punch through the leathery flesh. The Orckengraten bears his teeth before swinging his other arm, horse and all to batter Gii into another horse sending the animal and its rider sprawling.

Naiklamuu stalks toward the two Luisgad shouldering into another horse who tobbles over smashing its bulk and rider onto the knee of the troll throne. The tribeleader lifts his arms and roars ready to pummel the downed Luisgad to death just as the throne breaks and topples over onto him. He crumples with the weight the ground rushing up to meet the thirteen hundred stone monster.
