Our Voices

"In the meantime," Elijah began, finishing the sentence for the man next to him, "get rid of Shimmer Town, then the rest of Elved and then... Aleris."

"And the children?"

Elijah offered a shrug. "Appetizers?"

The Executioner's Block

When the barbarians are at the gate and you're in need of a weapon you can trust, it is The Executioner's Block that you should seek.

Notes:

  • The Executioner's Block is located on every major continent in the following towns: Grand City (Eiler), Bariston (Elved), Drybrush (Heruin), and Chaliceton (Arthuran). Please keep in mind that if you enter in one city, you will not see a person in the shop from a different city. Unfortunately the weapon shop is not a magic portal to other continents!
  • As long as your primary or secondary class meets the level requirements for a weapon or armor, you may equip the item.
  • Items marked with a "*" next to their name mean that they cannot be upgraded or enchanted.
  • Items marked with a "**" next to their name mean that they are considered Legendary weapons and get a free enchantment of the player's choice.
  • To make a purchase, simply post here and a GM will confirm your items bought. Gold will be taken and items will be added to the inventory on your character sheet after confirmation.
  • Weapons and armor may be sold back to the weapon shop for one-third the gold amount.

Upon entering The Executioner's Block, Verial noticed the place looked like it hadn't been used in about two years. Dust was layered on about every weapon, shield and piece of armor he picked up and the shop keeper was asleep, resting their head soundly on the counter. Verial imagined he could have taken whatever he wanted and made his way out, but he was no thief thankfully.

Despite the unused appearance, this was supposedly the weapon shop to go to in Grand City, the one you could trust and Verial had no other options currently. His weapons had been lost in the fight against a werewolf; both the sword from his reign as Oneiro's king and the pair of daggers his mother had given him when he was young. When he left the Villa and followed the werewolf's tracks, he hadn't found hide nor hair of the beast or his weapons. The tracks had just suddenly ended, as if the damn creature jumped up and flew away. Verial supposed he shouldn't have gotten so attached to his weapons, as comparatively, anything else seemed not on par.

There wasn't time to look for anything else though and so grabbing a bow and one-handed sword, Verial brought both to the counter and placed them down so the shop keeper could hear someone was interested in buying something for once.

"I'd like to buy both of these," Verial started and then thinking as he eyed the bow, "and do you have any arrows, preferably made with silver tips?"

A nap was very much in progress, until she felt the sound of weapons hitting the counter. Memoria was startled awake while in her chair, almost tipping backwards. A hand went to her heart for a moment and she let out a relieved breath.

At long last, she removed herself from the chair, pushing her once sleeping weight off of it and went towards the counter. "You scared me there. Looks like someone's going hunting," Memoria said, looking over both the bow and sword, then offered Verial a nod. "It'll be 1700 gold."

Memoria took the money from Verial and pointed towards the corner of The Executioner's Block where an assortment of arrows were stocked. "We've got some silver arrows there. Help yourself."

One step. Another. Boots crunching against the gravel road, eventually beating a tempo against cobblestone. Another step. Closer now.

Barely blinking, a slight rise and fall of her chest, her face impassive, Deanna finally arrived at the Executioner's Block. She entered the establishment and though her features were blank, sharp amber orbs took in each and every piece of weaponry before making a decision.

Delicate nostrils flared and for the first time in hours, a sign of life was offered from Deanna.

She frowned.

The scent was unmistakable. Verial had been here. His stench was a dead giveaway. Interesting how they were on the same wavelength. The hunt was on.

She eyed the swords for a moment longer before making her way to the counter where the shopkeeper stood. There were no greetings, no offerings of pleasantries. Deanna rested her hands on the counter top and leaned forward, her gaze intense as she finally spoke.

"A sword. I want a sword. A single handed, finely honed blade."

Something nudged at her brain, an instant flash of a memory that forced her to modify her order.

"And a...pistol." Such a strange request for Deanna for she had never used a weapon such as that before, but after seeing Maxim load one with silver tipped bullets, well, times were a changing, and so was Deanna. "Yes, a pistol and bullets. Made of silver or tipped in silver, I don't care, just make sure there are a lot of them."

Her order complete, Deanna unlaced the leather money purse from her belt and placed it on the counter, waiting for her purchased goods and the cost. Her eyes narrowed briefly as she examined the shopkeeper before making her inquiry.

"Someone was in here recently. A...strange looking male. Dark wings, maybe some scales on his torso? Foul smelling. You know who I speak of?" No please, no sweet cajoling. No, Deanna simply demanded answers. If the woman wasn't forthcoming with information, Deanna could always threaten her with violence. "He was here, I know it. What did he purchase, and did he mention where he was headed?"

She has a suspicion that the hybrid had an idea of location for the weres responsible for the rash of murders, but obviously kept that bit of knowledge to himself. She could possibly track Verial, but that would take time that she didn't have. No, best not to waste anymore time. If this woman offer useful information, Deanna would follow the lead.

There was no way in hell Verial was going to have all the fun. Not without her.

Upon seeing Deanna entering The Executioner's Block, Memoria was definitely glad that she was awake this time. There was no doubt about it; Deanna was a woman on a mission and didn't want to wait for nothing or nobody. Prior to Deanna stepping foot inside the shop, Memoria had actually started removing the amount of dust that had layered on the weapons and armor, but soon moved behind the counter and waited for Deanna to finish making her purchases.

However, it seemed Deanna didn't find anything out on the floor to her liking. Instead, she came to the counter, her nostrils strangely flared asking for a sword and pistol. Memoria nodded to her not speaking very much, allowing Deanna the same pleasantries she had shown her.

Moving a few steps behind the counter, Memoria reached towards the back wall for a finely crafted sword, one that had both exceptional sharpness and craftsmanship in its blade. She wasn't worried about Deanna not being able to carry the weight of the blade as she imagined the woman was quite capable of wielding a sword in battle.

"This sword will do you good," Memoria said and kneeling down for a moment, she reached inside the counter's cabinet and pulled out a pistol. The gun was placed on the counter and after Deanna asked for silver bullets, Memoria felt around inside the cabinet again for a pouch of them. "Silver, huh? Seems like everyone's looking for silver these days."

Rising from her kneeling position, Memoria looked at Deanna and shook her head as she collected the gold for the weapons. She placed the money in a box and offered Deanna an apologetic shrug.

"Well, I can't recall smelling him, but I think I know the guy you're talking about," Memoria started a finger momentarily pressed under her chin in thought. "Hmmm, he bought about the same as you - a single handed sword and bow with silver tipped arrows. Sorry, though... I don't know exactly where he went, except that he headed south out of my shop."

Before Deanna could retreat from The Executioner's Block, Memoria reached over to the left across the counter and handed Deanna a pair of leather gloves made for women. She didn't bother to explain how she knew of Deanna's bestial origins; it was as if it was just very obvious to her.

"You're going to need to wear these if you want to handle those bullets."

Deanna remained silent as the shopkeeper pulled with great care, a very fine sword from its casing on the wall. The light caught the blade which gleamed its brilliance, and her eyes fastened on the sword, impressed not only by the weapon itself, but the woman's appreciation for such weaponry.

Deanna's hand clasped the hilt and squeezed as she began testing the grip and weight, appreciating the simple pommel as the bladesmith obviously chose to focus more on function than artistry. She stepped away from the counter and swung it carefully, liking the feel. With the pad of her thumb on her free hand, she ran it lightly against the blade's edge, the weapon so sharp she did not feel as it sliced into her flesh with the gentlest of touch.

Perfect.

The pistol was offered to her as well as the pouch of bullets. She listened as the shopkeeper informed her that Verial was indeed here, and had purchased similar weapons. Interesting. The hybrid had been keeping secrets after all. Forsaking assistance from Deanna and Quinn, Verial intended to hunt the weres on his own. As for his destination, well that would be a bit of a challenge, but since the direction of south was mentioned, south was where Deanna would travel. A cold smile crept upon full lips.

Soon, Verial. I won't be far behind you.

Deanna collected her belongings, fitting the sword behind her back in a specially made leather sheathing and slid the pistol in her weapons belt. She was about to reach for the pouch of bullets when the shopkeeper handed her the leather gloves along with an offering as to why.

She knows. How very curious.

Deanna nodded her thanks as she clutched the gloves and pouch in her hand. She had one foot out the door before turning to glance over her shoulder to the proprietor.

"If you pray to any specific god or gods, I suggest you do so."

Deanna paused then, a solemn look upon her pale features.

"Mention me to your gods as well."

With that Deanna departed the Executioner's Block and began her journey south, to find Verial, to exact justice for Mal.

Ah Verial, I cannot allow you to claim what destiny has determined to be mine.

Hellfire flashed in those fey eyes as she smiled.

It Was Routine For The Seasoned Realm-Jumper To See To Certain Things Once They Decided To Settle In Somewhere. First Came The Land, Or More Specifically A Place To Start From. Then Came The Plan. What Would They Do Once They Settled? And Then, Finally, Acquiring The Tools They Thought Could Help Them Follow Through With It. After That It Was About Doing What You Could With What You Had.

They Had Land, They Had A Plan, And Though All The Necessary Tools Were Already Theirs – That Didn't Mean They Were Above Using Something More Colorful. That's Exactly The Reason They Had Come To The Executioners Block. The Weapons They Had Carried For Most Of Their Lives Were Been Left Behind At The Empire, Well At Least Those They Hadn't Been Born With. That Meant They Needed -New- Weapons. And Even Though They Purchased Weapons Before In Several Different Lands It Had Always Been One Of Their Shared Hobbies To Go “Murder Shopping”, A Term Ameerah Had Thought Up That Seemed Just Accurate Enough To Keep.

It Was Routine, Maybe An Omniversal Constant But The Walk Was Always The Same. Down A Road, Down Another Road, Turn And Open A Door; Sometimes There Was A Jingle And Sometimes There Wasn't But You Never Really Paid Attention To It Anyway, Your Eyes Were Already Looking Over Everything That The Store Owner Thought Was Worth Your Money. What Was Worth Their Money? That Was Half The Fun. When The Door Closed Behind Them They Had Already Separated And Were Walking Through The Shop To Eye Anything And Everything. Some Items Weren't Worth Being Noticed, Others Earned A Glance Or 2, And Some Even Made The Eyes Linger But When You Find The “Right” Tool, The One That Fit You Best, You Just Knew It.

Ameerah Was Off Searching On Her Own And He Looked Around A Bit But He Already Had Ideas About What He Wanted To Leave With. First Thing He Had To Find – A Firearm. He Was Very Familiar With Firearms – Then Again He Was Familiar With Nearly Every Man Made Weapon That A 5 Digit Hand Could Wield. The Developmental Years Of His Life Were Spent In A Chamber, A Nexus Where Time And Space Itself Were Not Constants And As Such Were Not Held To Linear Paths By Any Thermodynamic Law. And In That Nexus He Was Trained Constantly. Not Being A Normal Mortal Child Meant A Typical Mortal Upbringing Was Unnecessary And That Led To His Being More Experienced With The Majority Of Weapons And Combative Tactics Than Most. In Short, He Knew Guns.

That One Has A Wonderful Barrel, But The One A Foot Away Has A Better Trigger Even Though The One Next To It Had The Best Cocking Mechanism. What To Do In Such A Situation? Carrying Them All Would Be Needless But Buying Only One Or Two Would Mean He Was Possibly Sacrificing The Better Attributes Of Other Firearms. He Did The Only Logical Thing, He Began Picking Up Pistol After Pistol, Rifle After Rifle And Set Them Aside. And When He Had A Moderately Sized Pile He Began Tinkering.

The Weapons Were Taken Apart With An Almost Mechanical Type Precision, The Parts He Didn't Need Being Set Aside As He Took The Pieces He Did Want. His Left Hand Was Quite Useful In Removing Unneeded Metal Or Making Specific Modifications, Rounding Off This And “Shaving” That. In All It Took Him Nearly 20 Minutes But In The End He Had Something Laying On The Table In Front Of Him – And It Was Enough To Make Him Smile And Nod His Head In Approval.

A Barrel That Originally Belonged To An Over-Under Rifle Had Been Shortened Down To 14 Inches, The Pistol Grip Stock, Trigger, And Trigger Guard Had Been Taken From A Walnut Stock Shotgun, And The Hammer Of A Large Caliber Pistol To Bring It All Together. It Was A Double Shot Firearm That Had A Break Action Breech Load That Could Take Either 2 Shotgun Rounds Or 2 High Caliber Rifle Rounds. The Metal Was Shadow Black And The Wood Was Polished And Smooth. It Was A Pretty Weapon To Be Sure But The Real Test Would Come Later.

Before He Ever Removed The First Pin He Had Set A Satchel On The Table, And Any Merchant Would Know The Sound Of A Bag Filled With Money Hitting A Table. Why Did He Bother? It Was A Silent Way Of Saying ~Yes, I know it looks like I'm about to ruin a lot of what you're selling, but I can pay for all of it~. And Once He Had The Firearm Taken Care Of The Next Thing Was Armor. Why? Because The Larger Threats Were Handled By His Own Defenses, But Little Ones? Why Waste The Energy To Heal Minor Wounds When Something Else Could Do It For You? Save The Energy For When It's Needed. So He Snatched Up The Most Durable Chain Mail That He Could Find. It Would Be Spliced With His Clothing Later.

Finally, As He Made His Way Through The Store He Glanced At The Swords He Passed By. It Occurred To Him That Having One Might Not Be A Bad Idea. But Then, At That Moment, He Caught A Large Book From The Corner Of His Eye. Now, You Didn't Need Ethereal Sight To Know When Something That Was Not There Before Just Appeared. The Book Had No Title, No Binding. It Was Like The Cover As Well As The Pages Had All Been Fashioned Out Of A Single Piece Of – Well Honestly He Couldn't Tell. It Looked Organic One Second And Then Inorganic The Next. Whatever It Was Something In Him Told Him To Pick It Up.

With Gun In Holster Hanging From His Right Shoulder, Money Satchel In His Right Hand, And The Chainmail Slung Over His Shoulder He Reached Out With His Left Hand To Grab The Tome. When His Hand Touched It The Book Seemed To Be -Absorbed- Into The Table It Was On And His Entire Limb 'Flared' With A Single, Bright Flash. It Surprised Him At First, But In An Instant He Felt Like Something He'd Been Burned With Ever Since Coming To Aleris 'Faded' Away. Since He First Came Through The Portal It Felt Like He'd Had Metaphysical “Chains” On Him, And Those Chains Fell Away. He Felt That 'Rush' Of Returning Energy That Always Came When He Left Aleris To Go To The Empire. Had His Abilities Been Hindered When He Came To These Lands? And If So By Who? Gods Maybe? His Parents? It Didn't Matter – The Weight That Kept Him Down Was Gone. So, It Seemed He'd Be Buying A Book As Well.

Whatever Had Just Happened And The Reason For It Could Be Figured Out Later. Maybe Things Like That Caused Other People To Pause And Turn It Into Some Kind Of Mystery, But When Your Existence Revolves Around The Perceived Impossible You Eventually Take All Unusual Things In Stride. Right Now He Had More Important Things Waiting, Like Paying For The Gun, The Chain, And Book. Heading Over To The Counter He Looked At The Shop Keeper And Nodded.

”One gun..not quite sure if you'd call it a pistol or a rifle but..charge whatever it's worth. Also I've got some chainmail here..and umm...I think I bought a book...” Glancing To His Left Hand He Ran The Tip Of His Thumb Across The Tips Of His 4 Fingers, And Arcs Of Emerald Light Crackled Between Them As He Did. ”I'll also need rounds for the gun. No need to make any modifications to them I can do that myself. I'll take a few boxe....you know what, just give me whatever you've got in the back. After that...I think that's all for now.”

---Pistol/Rifle Not Sure How To Classify It, It's Single Handed But Shoots Rifle/Shotgun Rounds. I Leave It Up To The Forum Mod To Decide.
---Chainmail
---Advanced Tome

Yes, it was time to go Murder Shopping. There was a conflict brewing, one they could both sense, on the heels of the war that just ended and they would need to be prepared..she supposed. Her former weapons had been left behind, the Talons she'd carried for years, as if an extension of herself, had been kept in the land of Eternelle Lune. Yet another difference, another change, she must learn to adapt to. Truth be told she wasn't truly looking forward to new weapons but Valorius was ever mindful of such things having been the head of the Empire's defenses since he'd emerged from the Nexus Chamber so there she was, at his side, as they pushed into the Executioner’s Block to purchase weaponry.

Once inside Valorius instantly gravitated towards the firearms. She'd used them herself, once upon a time, when living on Earth but had not done so in ages since her Father had taken over her training and expressed his dislike for them. Glancing over her shoulder it was to see Valorius picking his way through the weapons, several of them in front of him as he crafted exactly what he wanted. A half smile touched her lips as she turned her gaze to the weapons in front of her, her eyes passing with disinterest over what was available. Nothing really stood out to her. Nothing...spoke to her. Having once had such a soul deep connection to her weapons it was difficult to settle for simply crafted metals.

Then again..what need did she have of weaponry now? Certain abilities had always been her's to command but now..now she had magic at her fingertips that she'd never even imagined before. Magic she had yet to fully understand the depth of. Would she even need weapons by the time she'd mastered all she was capable of? Possibly.

Behind her she could hear Valorius making his purchases, speaking with the clerk about the pistol he'd crafted from the parts of the other firearms, and she sighed. A decision must be made but there was so little to choose from, such a lack of variety, that it was more a matter of settling for the best they had to offer rather than choosing something she truly wanted. With another glance over the offered wares she settled on several items and gathering them up she moved to the counter behind Valorius, the clerk clearly startled by her masked visage.

Once Valorius' transaction was concluded she dumped her own items on the counter. Two daggers, chainmail, and an advanced magic tomb. ”This will be all for now.”

Perhaps when they had a better selection she would return but, for now, those items would have to do.

Madrin entered the shop after a refreshing run to Grand city he had just eaten a meal of trail rations. The sun would be setting in a few minutes and he was unaware how long the shops stayed open. So he felt he needed to get his shopping done. He had left his two-handed sword on display in the room he had chosen in Shield Hall above what would be the fireplace. It was a tradition among his people as an expression of always being ready for battle. He would have to have a new wolf head cap added to the hilt of his next weapon but, the blades in the Executioner's Block were clearly made by master smiths. He searched the weapons' rack for any that stuck out. He found a two-handed sword that had a very sharp edge on both sides. The sheath of fine leather had a beautiful black wolf running towards the hilt when the blade was sheathed. There were emblems for each of the deities surrounding the creature a green oak leaf, a red coal, an orange wing, and a single blue snowflake seeming to bless the animal.

He looked at the owner and realized she wasn't anything he had seen before but, her eyes spoke of balance. Madrin could not sense magic at all however, he felt he was no longer in Grand city from the moment he picked up the sword. He approached the counter and placed the magnificent weapon on the counter. "I'll take this two-handed sword Madame." After making his purchase he turned from the counter and, found himself on the street in front of the Executioners Block with no memory of walking out. Well he wouldn't dare to change this sword, so the sheath was more than sufficient to display the only symbols he permitted himself.

Power of any kind is a tool, whether you use it for good or evil is up to you.

Memoria watched as a man and woman entered into the usually quiet Executioner's Block. She was so accustomed to the silence and it seemed these people were as well. They went about their business, checking out the weapons, glancing at certain items that didn't catch their fancy and lingering about on other ones that looked far more interesting. Memoria took notice that Valorius, a tall dark-haired thing, was specifically interested in guns. In fact, he started disassembling things on the shelf and creating what suited him. Memoria lifted a finger in protest, wanting to tell Valorius that this was not a Build-A-Gun Workshop, but decided against it. After all, a man who knew his guns was not one to trifle with.

As if reading her thoughts, Valorius dropped a bag of gold on the table that was obviously full of coin. She then shrugged her shoulders and returned to the book she was reading while the two continued to search about. Deep into her reading, Memoria was caught off-guard when suddenly a bright flash lit up the room. She lifted her head, looking to the wall wondering if the gun Valorius had just constructed had back-fired on him. Instead, a tome on the shelf reacted to him, setting off some sort of flare. A brow rose in question, but it lowered as he came towards the front desk with his purchases.

"It'll be a pistol," Memoria said. "That book seemed to sure take a liking to you."

Behind Valorius, as Memoria exchanged gold with him, Ameerah sighed as if slightly irritated or disappointed. Nevertheless, she reluctantly came to the front desk with some purchases of her own. Taking Ameerah's payment as well, Memoria gestured to the walls with a light flick of her wrist.

"I apologize for the lack of selection. With the entire city rebuilding, some of the forges have been shut down and so we're out of stock," Memoria said. "We'll be getting new and more exciting stuff in soon."

Before they left, Memoria searched in the back handing and came back out holding a medium-sized box in her hands. She pushed it over the counter towards Valorius and nodded.

"This is all the rounds we have at the moment."

Once the transactions were complete and Valorius and Ammerah had left the shop, another man, Madrin, entered and headed immediately towards the display of two-handed swords. Memoria eyed him, noting he certainly looked like a roughened man who could swing around a two-handed sword just fine. Most people who tried to buy and use two-handed swords end up falling on their asses, much to her amusement.

When he was finished, Madrin took his sword up to the counter and laid it down. Memoria exchanged gold with him and smiled faintly, pointing to the sheath that the sword was in. On it was a wolf surrounded by symbols that represented Aleris' four gods.

"Nice sword you found. Enjoy it."

Once he had left the store, Memoria returned to her book ever waiting for the next person that entered.
