Hey I was wondering if the forums need to be this spread out, or if it's possible to condense them? I am of the opinion that three major forums (Open storylines, closed storylines, and out of character chat) should be prominent, follower by the chronicle and the private realms..

It's so confusing in the current format and I don't think we need to segregate such a small community too much :)

"That night, Eurynomos dreamed of animals. Animals he'd never seen before.
He dreamed of tigers fighting spiders. He dreamed an eagle screamed and struck down the sun.
His mind drew pictures of wolves hunting bears, of machines in chaotic landscapes,
of gods weeping and laughing in merriment as the animals played their primal games."

I don't know how often you visit, but we've haven't really added any additional forums. We changed their names and setup things differently, but haven't added anything new.

Prior to Aleris' setting update (read more about it here: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=834), we had these forums:

  • Imperial Court
  • Inner Circle
  • The West Wing
  • The Divine Beacons
  • Cornucopia Market
  • The Aleris Chronicle

Now we have:

  • Eiler
  • Heruin
  • Elved
  • Arthuran
  • Cornucopia Market
  • The Aleris Chronicle

So we're working around the same numbers here. The reason for the forum name changes and different set up is that we want people to take advantage of Aleris' setting more. Most people don't use Aleris' setting in their posts and I think an important part of an RPG is the geography. With the new maps, forums and everything else we're going to be working on, we're trying to inspire people to use other places and lands.

The previous forums were based off of Grand City's castle and it's court, which seems to much more limited in my opinion.

Most of the time anyway, people write "(Invite blah blah blah)" after their invite only posts even in an "Invite Only" forum, so I don't think we really need an "Invite only" forum when people can specify.

I think it might be confusing now, because you are not used to it yet. Give it some time; as personally I am under the belief this will be much better in the end. I've browsed quite a few RPG forums and a lot of them are using the land/continent setup rather than how we've been doing it.

I'd have to agree with my companions on this. I like the way its set up now. I don't really know how much control you have over the graphics on the forums Memoria, But maybe we can make a "private" tag? Something they can just click on and it'd be marked as private? I don't know. I think that the new layout will work nicely.

I love the new layout, I think people should absolutely take advantage of the geography of Aleris. It takes only a few seconds more for someone to type (Invite only) or (Open) at the end of their topic.

We have total control of them. :) I'm actually going to be working on topic icons so people can use those too. Eventually we'll have icons for "Invite Only", "Free For All", "Private", "Quests", etc, etc. I started making them, but didn't like what I had so they went in the trash for now. hehe
