A girl entered her office where she sat going over paper work. A compression of her lips was given when the door opened and one of her more, assertive girls entered her office. "Yes?" She inquired with her usual tones and a lofting of one of her soft pink eyebrows. Her rainbow colored eyes studied the other woman and with a slipping of her high heeled foot her babydoll covered gown slid back into place from the propped position her leg had been in to sit rather more lady like.

"There is a gentleman here requesting to speak to you in reguards to a newspaper add?" She murmured well to be honestly the girl probably wanted to know what Salome was up to. The small bundle of female was never an easy one to pin down with anything when it came to the corner. But still Salome tipped her head in thought and then rose. "You're dismissed, go see Marlene in the massage therapy room to see about helping her." She redirected the girl so she wouldn't be a bother for the rest of the day.

A glance towards Andras and she tipped her head and then headed for the main greeting room which was almost like a large foyer.
"Season's greetings, Sir. I'm Salome, the Siren Corner Mistress. How can I be of service?" Her tone and smile welcoming as her eyes sized him up. This could definately be an interesting person to have around depending on what sort of position he was applying for. She still needed people to help about here and there.

Granted working for a place that until her reign was nothing more then a house of ill repute, she at least was making it more then that. With the massage parlors, the spa like addition to the building was actually more popular then the whore house side that well guys frequented. Where as their unsuspecting wives partook in the spa and day pampering. It worked well for her as the black babydoll like dress cuddled her form to just above her knees hugging at her breasts where as the straps caressed over her shoulders.

Pink hair was pinned back in a delicate confection of both curls waves along her back and shoulders. Andras stood at her side imposing his height in comparison to the 4'9 bundle of trouble that was Salome.
"A bouncer we could use. Our business here is multi fascetted. You see, during the day the local ladies come to the massage parlor and spa, the night time tends to being the gentlemen callers that perfer well a bit of fluff on the side without the benefit of a wedding ring. " She grinned impishly.

"What do you have to offer, sir in the way of helping to inspire your immediate hire?" Not that she wouldn't hire him. Honestly, she liked to hear things from others. The more they talked, the more she knew and unless she missed her marbles, probably her own sweet Mistress knew.

For a while as he waited, Verial let his eyes wander across the hall studying the festive decorations that swept across The Siren's Corner. He let his odd colored eyes follow the swoops and swirls of garland and enchanted lights that hung across the ceiling and archways. Verial took in all of this and breathed out softly, until he heard the sound of heels clicking their way into the entrance hall of the Corner. His gazed lowered and not long after he was met in the hall by none other than Salome de Ingis, the House Manager.

Salome was an interesting sight to see, though not in a bad way at all. Verial was just not used to seeing someone so... bright. Salome was crowned with cascading pink curls that framed her face almost elegantly, accenting her rainbow colored eyes. She stood a mere 4'9, so being 6'2 himself, Verial had to look down to actually talk to her. Along side of her was a man, who Verial had no idea of his position in the Corner. However, Verial had the distinct notion that the man was puffing out his chest a little and trying to look... well, impressive. Verial ignored him for the moment and turned back to Salome as an introduction was made.

"Hello Lady Salome," Verial took her slim hand for a moment and only shook it, deciding that was the better decision for now. Had he made a proper introduction and maybe kissed the top of her hand, the guy next to her might have punched him in the jaw. He was not so anxious to have his face hurt today. "The Bouncer position is what I am here for actually. I found your ad you placed in The Chronicle. It appears to have been there for a while, so I'm not sure if that position is still open or not."

Verial couldn't remember when the last time he ever had an interview was, or needed to seek out a job for that matter. At an early age of 15, he was thrust into being a King for the realm of Oneiro. Prior to that, he had everything he needed living with his mother Sorvynia Dreamer. One might think that would mark him as a pampered prince, but he had been through too much during his kingship to ever deserve that title. For a brief while, Verial mused at the idea of going from King to possible Bouncer for Siren's Corner and almost smiled to himself.

"That is, if you do not have a Bouncer already," Verial said turning his head to the man who nearly clung to Salome's side. He turned back to her and wondered for a moment before speaking what sort of qualifications would make her hire someone like him? "Since I was very young, I have practiced in all sorts of combat, mostly sword and dagger training, though a know a bit of other weaponry as well. I held a high ranking position in a kingdom's army for quite a few years and afterwards, travelled to many places seeking out new adventures to better prepare myself for the unexpected. I don't know if this warrants enough to be a good Bouncer for you, but I can assure you that I will make sure no unnecessary harm comes to your ladies."

The whole time he spoke to her, a few women employed at the corner had floated out of their hiding spots to see what the commotion was about. Verial kept his eyes focused on Salome. Though the women cast him fluttering glances and knowing smiles, he was not interested in what they could offer him. After all, he was here for a job and not a fun time. Verial was sure Salome could appreciate a potential employee who would not lust after her "wares".

It always amused her when she saw how people responded to her presence. The small female grinned but in a way that didn't raise heckles if anything it was an endearing sort of grin even if she was amused at the time. A slight shift of her head caused those soft vivid strands of pink hair to slide over her shoulder, the rainbow eyes of her studied the man. He in turn studied her which worked in due accord honestly as she prefered no illusions.

"A pleasure, this is Andras he is my personal assistant and if you're hired, your assistant bouncer to help keep out trouble. " For all Andras's posturing she knew he wouldn't balk, he just wanted her happy. And if there was a bouncer, he might get to slouch slightly and get to spend more time with that of the small little bundle of Mistress. As he shook her small hand the firm grip of it spoke well of him at that moment honestly.

A lot could be told in a persons handshake, if it was fast, the person was apt to flake off and be a johnny come lately. A firm shake with callaused fingers spoke of someone that worked hard and had confidence. A slick hand was a slick man that was nervous and wouldn't suit her needs. But the man had a point in his favor so that grin of hers shifted into a beautiful welcoming smile.

"I currently have Andras filling in but that is not to be his permanent job, so yes the position is very much so available. " She listened to the man as he observed Andras, "Perhaps you could even give me a few lessons in combat." She smiled even more. It would never hurt and after that fiasco with Talisy, she had no wishing to ever be the weakest link again. Her spine had stiffened since then her main concern when away from the Corner was the Mistress. Behind that was a strong will and determination to prove she was worth what she had.

Naturally several of her girls had migrated in view, flirted and winked even flaunted to which Salome's smile at times slid to a smirk
. "With the position is the set pay, there are benefits as well for working for me. After hours never on shift are you welcome to enjoy any of the services here be it the girls, the massage parlor or spa area. During work hours will get you a warning, then a very sharp reprimand if it happens again." She made it clear, she brooked no nonsense.

And sharp reprimands were usually done with her strapping you to a post in her office and whipping you, but that was besides the point. Only 3 girls had gotten that far. Although she was heartless when it came to the girls. Instead of marring their flesh that would devalue them. She'd bound them with hands behind their back, suspended them to where their feet were up. And then she whipped their feet hard. It was ancient torture used in harems. She made it excruciating to where the girls knew not to cross her again. A man would be different, Andras knew well what happened if you unsettled her, or didn't do as she dictated.

The small Mistress of the Corner smiled at the younger man,
"There is a position if you want it. If you'd like until you are sure this is something youd like, we can give you a month trial period that is no less then the same regular work. So you can get aquainted with the work." Her smile was warm and welcoming if anything she was all out encouraging him to either accept or deny what could be very advantagous to herself and him.

So, after introductions had been made, it seemed that Andras would be working closely with Verial for some time, almost as a sort of supervisor. It appeared that Andras had been temporarily filling in as Bouncer until Salome found someone who could take up the reigns and give Andras lee-way to do other things. For now, if Verial were to be hired, he would have to possibly learn to work with Andras - a task he hoped would not prove difficult.

Verial merely answered with a soft nod of his head to Andras, "It is good to meet you as well, Andras. Hopefully we shall see more of each other in the near future."

Verial smiled and turned back to Salome at her mention of him training her. Verial had practiced with very few women in his life. Necia (his ex-wife) had been pretty self sufficient in defending herself. He recalled the many times his cousin Tehran had seen fit to make fun of him for Necia appearing more "manly". Other than Necia, his other female training companion had only consisted of his sister Maiwen. Maiwen's training, however, never went very far at all, as she chose to learn with some lightweight weapon that had been fashioned to resemble a long and lethal ribbon. Verial thought there was no way in hell he was going to be caught twirling around a ribbon no matter how sharp the thing was. He still wondered if his younger sibling had ever learned to use those things called "Razor Ribbons".

"I would be happy to help you out," Verial said despite his previous thoughts.

Salome continued on about what the job responsibilities would be and what his benefits would entail. He listened in detail, but when she started explaining his benefits as an employee at the Siren's Corner and the restrictions that accompanied them, he found himself shaking his head gently. Verial couldn't see himself ever using the privileges Siren's Corner provided. He was not interested the spa or massages or even free hours with women.

"With me, you will find you do not have to worry about myself taking advantage of the benefits you provide," Verial answered. "But yes, I would like to start working here and get a feel for the environment. I can start immediately. After all, new beginnings are always welcome."

"Andras will help you but you will be in charge mostly, it's a straight forward job, just keep the trouble makers out. They get one warning, no warning if they hurt or threaten a girl with anything more then a good time." She said softly with her polite tones that held that undertone of authority that wasn't to be messed with.

Andras gave a faint smile and remianed at his Mistress's side. No he was protective of her and though he didn't like the idea of someone teaching her fighting , it was probably for the best. As hotheaded as she got and after the Aensland girl's mess. Never the less he nodded his head to the man.
"Of course, I will help out and show you the ropes swiftly, Mistress isn't hard to please." He stated patiently so not to upset Salome.

The woman was well nothing if excitable at the slightest thing at times. So when Verial said he would help her, she smiled beautiful and finished out her explainations swiftly including pay rates and benefits. He'd declined the use of the girls but that was fine, he might some day change his mind. It wasn't something she would have ever forced upon the other man in the slightest. When he said he'd like to start immediately did she really grin.

"By all means, Andras show him around, our boundries and the lake for those we usually toss out that dont' accept No for an answer. Mind your manners." She reminded softly then turned her gaze to the other man and offered her hand out. "Welcome to the Corner." She was delighted of course, it would be nice to have an attractive person about. It would probably give some of her Boys a person to emulate and talk to.

After all, what fair was it to keep just female whores. Girls like toys too, there were only 3 male workers that serviced women with varried schedules and on call the rest of the time.

"Thank you. I look forward to helping out around here," Verial said and nodded politely to Salome as he turned and headed off with Andras. Verial followed the male imp as he was showed around the grounds of Siren's Corner. When the two men reached the lake, Verial stood at its edge and watched the waters for a moment. He wondered how many people had been thrown into the lake so far and if he would eventually need to do the same. Verial grinned slightly to himself with the thought before moving away from the lake and continuing on with the tour.

-----About two weeks later...-----

Verial had adapted to his routine at Siren's Corner quite well, perhaps better than he had expected, though he was still not used to passing by women who were flaunting or prancing around nude quite openly. In fact, he found himself often covering the side of his face with a hand, shielding his eyes and moving onward. The girls thought it was funny, but he mostly kept to himself and listened for anything that sounded out of the ordinary.

And in his short time here, he had heard some things. There were a few girls who had gotten beat on or some who refused to do what their customers asked them to. The clients would put up a fight and try to force Salome's girls into whatever they wanted (at a much cheaper rate) and these were normal things Verial encountered. Verial would have to defend the girls' rights, or in most instances, just throw the bastard out that was bothering them. Verial threw one guy off the balcony who tried to throw him off first, tossed three more in the lake (so he did get to use it), had something like a bar fight with a few others and only had to escort one stumbling drunk out of the building who actually complied easily after Verial told him, "No, you can't do that."

The strangest incident happened to be, however, with one of Salome's male employees. The boy had been servicing some woman who demanded that she be allowed to cause him pain and beat him, as if it were some sort of turn on. She was quickly ushered out of the property, though she put up a good fight, kicking and screaming the whole way so much as to the point where Verial had to carry her slung over his shoulder like a sack of unruly potatoes.

Today has been a little different to start. Verial was enjoying morning - his 4 a.m. morning - and drinking some coffee, when what he was about to swallow he spit out of his mouth. No, the coffee wasn't poisoned or anything like that. In his hands, he held a copy of Aleris' recent issue of The Chronicle and tried to shake the spewed coffee off of it so it could dry. Once he was satisfied, he read the printed words from Najia de Ingis, the gossip columnist, again:

"Rumor has it that someone has finally applied for the bouncer position at the Siren's Corner, and such a prestigious applicant too! Who you may ask? Why Verial Akilara, the one time ruler of the now defunct Outer Gate of Oneiro, that's who. For those of you who have never encountered this particular man he probably has the biggest stick up the butt that I have ever seen! Talk about sexually repressed! I haven't met him personally but you can just tell by looking at him that he needs a good piece of ass! Maybe this is his solution to that? Why else would he go work at a whore house? Maybe he's hoping for an employee discount! Finally he'll get laid because let's face it, if you can't get laid in a whore house, you may need to rethink your sexual orientation."

Since when was everyone so interested in his love life, or lack there of? He made a face as he stood alone on one of the Siren's Corners balcony. As for biggest stick up the butt, okay well he was a little stubborn (a little?), but he wasn't trying to get anything easy by working at Siren's Corner. And how did Najia ever find out he used to be a ruler of Oneiro? Verial had tried desperately to make sure no one had ever called him that again or labeled him as such still, and somehow she had found out and made him into some sort of celebrity by calling him "prestigious". Well, he guessed it had something to do with the fact that she was a gossip column writer. Verial drank some more of his coffee, this time able to swallow the hot liquid, and shook his head. Oh well, how many people actually believed a gossip column anyway? Though there was always some truth in rumors...

Work progressed with how things were. Some days were quiet, other days she along with the bouncers would deal with some crap that had no place in her Corner. The new head bouncer well he definately got the job done, girls loved to try to tease and tempt him. They were however brought in check by her after two weeks when she saw how he wasn't overly enjoying it. There was some compassion to her after all, she did have it in there thanks to her sister and her father's concubine's influence raising her.

However the removal of the curse on the land seemed to have brought out a lot of bad seeds. People that weren't following her rules on tasteless play and bondage. No one was allowed to beat her girls unless it was her for doing stupid shit. But to give Verial his due, he did get things done. He took care of things when she was in her office, it was sort of nice at times to not have to be the bitch of town anymore.

Like Verial though when her eyes slid over the chronicle sittong on her desk she put a hand to her face and palmed it, massaged her temples. The fuck was this. She compressed her lips the more she read and her eyes narrowed to dangerous levels at times. Naturally she felt a few moments of rage for her poor worker. Damn it she really hoped that wasn't going to cost her a new worker, she liked the help. For the love of god this just ugh...

Her attention turned to Hale's collumn and again an eyebrow lofted a little bit. Her business wasn't like that, menu indeed. She huffed softly she had a pamphlet that is very tastefully done that lists the two sides of the business and their specialties. There was nothing dirty about anything that ran on around here. But to each his own, the whole thing on her daddy made her want to slap the stupid out of his mouth though. Damn it would she always be haunted, hunted and hated for stupid mistakes when she was younger? However, she wasn't going to bitch to Sarine, she'd get laughed off anyways.

A sigh marred her lips as she gathered up her paper and flipped to Sarine's part and read it with a faint nod of satisfaction. At least that was something , her sister did care some but she missed spending time with her. Perhaps she'd invite her out to lunch or a girls day out. Perhaps she just missed interactions since she did make herself a bit of a driven loner at times.

Days had come and gone and though she'd had a talk and worked out a great deal of her frustration, she felt a need still to spend time with more of her well family of sorts. Accepting that there was a great chance that though she wanted to befriend her estranged aunt Cahira, it was probably not likely to happen. And that though she pledged to be at her mistress's back and call, she was what she was.

During those times she worked at the Corner doing paperwork, filing away the taxes to the governing state. There was dignitaries that came and went through the less pleasurable side of the building. Enjoying massage, pampering and such which was something she'd go make sure of personally that they recieved Everything they wanted in a professional manner.

She hired and fired girls, men based on their preformance never out of personal feelings. Some girls she rather disliked, but they were good at what they did and toed the line. Some men were a bit too over the top but in that, she let them be. Lately the 'gentlewomen" of Aleris seemed to be coming out of the woodwork.

A high class society matron had taken to a backdoor agreement. She came in masked once a week and was made into the evening specialty.. She got off on being used and fucked by men she knew. Titilated when they whipped her and treated her like she was a common no one. And then when in polite society away from the corner, flash those secret smiles that confused them.

It was well an odd situation and made her wonder what sort of secrets there were to be had. Unlike her mistress with her Occulus that the Demon Lord allowed her privy to. She was only given what she sees and what she heard. It made her curious more about Najia and just whom and what made her what she was. Not in a bad way, but more a wanting to best understand the woman that she accepted as Mistress.

There was also the eternal curiousity as to the Demon Lord himself and then Cahira, she was contradictory and confusing. Part of her wanted to ask of Antonio, she missed her older brother. Perhaps she should see if the Demon Lord would allow her a way to check on him if she asked nice. She had no wat to start up things, perhaps she just cared about family.

A knock upon her door stirred her from her revelry to her bouncer asking questions as to the treatement allowed of the women.
"No haggling prices, they are what they are. Women are NOT allowed to be hurt here unless they are on the select list. The list consists of 2 women. They get off on bondage, whipping and a slapping. No fists allowed, no violence period beyond the sex play. Anything beyond that, the lake or bring them to me and I'll show them what it's like."

A grin made her seem almost like a beautiful little pink haired doll. Curls caressed over her face as she looked over that of her payrolls. "You've been doing a great job by the way. Perhaps you'd like to help me with something. I'm planning a little party or something here, perhaps even close the hmmm pleasure palace part of things and have a actual ball since we have no pavillion and place to have it in town. It might boost revenue and just show that we're not all about who's screwing who?" She asked quietly somewhat to herself.

Back to Business.

Yes this is what it seemed it was going to be on this day, back to business. It wasn't a business she was happy with at the moment. It was a business matter of the heart that faced the pink bundle of trouble. She stood staring out of her office window thinking and contemplating. By now the others were in hell, she was trapsing the surface. All because of what? Ambition? Perhaps Pride and Determination. Vanity, well that was apparant even perhaps even Envy though she was bound and gagged before she'd ever admit it.

She had started life wanting to be like her parents, important to them and her family. Now where were they and where was she? Father was dead, honestly he had deserved it. He'd never been a good person unless it got him something. Mother was worthless in all matters unless it was a bed. Her sisters were different, but had their own purposes. Sarine so driven, determined to do things her way and go far with it. She served the Demon Prince even though at times it seemed beneith her to share as she was. She contented and accepted. Carese was happy, she was staying with the mistress to be a constant companion. And she, she was in her office at the Corner topside.

Mistress was in Hell, but she would keep her promise, she'd remain on call should the mistress need or want her. Ambition however and the quest for something all demons wanted still courced through her own veins though. She wasn't content to just settle and stay in a room by herself other then Andras for days, hours perhaps days and years before she'd be called to her Mistress's side. She liked something, something that made her demon side show. She liked Power, and that was both a good thing and a bad thing.

It was that love of having power, weilding it that made her decision ultimately. After a long discussion with her family, it was decided her place was uptop paving the way, maintaining things. She would gain power for the deIngis so when they did return, it would be laid at their feet and she'd return to Najia's feet. Not that she couldn't if she failed, she could return if she wanted, she knew that and had that assurance.

Turning from the window she walked back to her desk and looked at the dark hellbound box that rested there now. Unlike before, the carved ornate box was there, the power from it eminated like it's own personal heating source. How she'd come in possession of it, a discussion with the Demon Prince when she was unsure what to do.

"I'm torn and I know you will just give it to my straight. Family is important, the only thing really besides the want to prove I'm worth having. You've allowed me books people such as me would never be allowed. Youv'e protected and kept me safe. But I still feel, I need to stand and yet.. I don't wish to break my word to my mistress."

"You belong to Najia. But, Najia belongs to me. She belongs directly to me, and as such she will follow where I lead. You however do not belong directly to me. I will not force you to travel with us if it is not your will. It is not your word to her you are breaking. Those who reside in Hell must do so because they have either become the property of a demon..or of their own will. They cannot be forced. So, if you wish to stay and attempt to better yourself than so be it. If and when you wish to rejoin us you shall have that right. Najia will respect this."

"So I can stay here and work on getting stronger, and in time I can go home... well.. It's not a home but to be back with my sisters?"

"What would it cost me to be able to return. I know you do nothing, without a reason."

"Your staying here and bettering yourself does benefit me, Salome. The things you do, the strides you take to make a bigger and better your name for yourself in this place gives you more influence in more places. The more influence and recognition you have here becomes influence and recognition the group has. And if I can achieve that without having to use fear and intimidation..it makes things happen much faster. A machine works its best when the parts are all as efficient and well made as they can be. If you wish to make yourself a better part of that machine..I would be foolish to try and stop you."

"And if I fail in what I wish to do? Influence are easy gathered, acchived within the right circles. How would I go back?"

"If you fail than you will learn from it, take the necessary time to plan your next action, and then you will try again. A failure is not a failure until you stop trying to succeed. Until then it is merely a work in progress."

"It is a Heathens Rift stone. When worn, step into any large enough flame and it will lead you there."

"Why are you allowing me such libereties? Or is it just the power and want there of, Sir?"

"I don't want to walk away from what I've been doing. Granted what I do feeds Mistress more then not with what I learn and get my hands on. Gossip, scandal and ruination of families.. That sort of stuff."

"You are not walking away from anything. You are merely pausing. It's one thing to walk away, it's another pause so that you can become better equipped for the journey ahead. I am taking these liberties with you because I have had opportunities to learn things that no demon would ever be capable of. If not for those teachings I would be no different than my father and grandfather. We all must have our chance to become more than what we are. Only then can greater things be expected of us."

The conversation still rang in her mind, the heavy black pendant sat in the box on her desk and always she had her fireplace going. If anything, she had to have soemthing, she knew ould lead back to her sisters, her Mistress. Yes, Najia was and would always be her Mistress until she released her and that was her final decision. Her neck still carried the weight of that collar resting there.

Still, she would find a way to give them more power, so when they returned, they'd have more then a little bundle of pink fluff that needed carried. She was sure, that she could do more then just be some cock adornment like her mother. How hard could it be after all, if the others could do it , why couldn't she.

Walking away from her window she turned her gaze to Andras, he belonged to her as such, he would remain with her.
"So, let's throw a party to welcome in spring. Seasons are changing, snow is melting and soon it will be beautiful once more. With liquor flowing, the lips will be less tight like a virgin. With the right contributions to the moral of people around. Perhaps we can play a game called seek and destroy. We seek the information and in time, use it to destroy what is needed to gather the power needed and influence to make the Family their personal empire?" She asked.

It wasn't that she was bad, although she definately had upbringing for it. It's more, she wanted to have fun, wanted to prove something to them, herself too. She missed them though and it was something she'd just have to get used to.

"Perhaps the Corner should open it's doors to it's neighbors sort of a meet and greet. Allow more people to get to know us, beyond what Hale did for spot light. Although it has generated a bit more attention." She murmured and felt the heavy callaused hands of her slave on her shoulders and him massaging gently. "Yes, Mistress Salome."

((OOC Note: This is a reply to Salome's previous post.))

As Verial stood in Salome's office listening to her speak about the rules of the Corner, Verial wondered what woman in the right mind would actually enjoy getting slapped around and whipped. To each their own, he humbly thought. Maybe he was just "old-fashioned" in that sense, but it was his job to be the Bouncer for the Siren's Corner and make sure people got what they paid for without a fight on either end. Luckily he had a knack for hearing things that crossed the line between pleasure and pain.

"I've become quite acquainted with the lake the few weeks I've been here," Verial said and nodded looking towards Salome with his odd colored eyes. "A nice throw in the cold waters usually stuns them enough."

Verial shook his head lightly, raven colored hair framing his pale face. He hoped he would not have to bring anyone to Salome and as of now, he did not have any reason to. Since he had started working there, security was somewhat better and people seemed to want to behave themselves... generally. There were still a few troublemakers, but for the most part when Verial chased them down or gave them a toss into the lake, the matter was settled.

His most recent encounter with an unruly man was an interesting on at that. His sister-in-law, Aursra, had somehow made her way to Siren's Corner after a long and frightful journey and found him. Verial could hardly believe his eyes, and hardly believe them even more when Aursra had practically thrown the man across the floor. He had tried to touch her and force himself upon her - a woman who was not even employed within the Corner - to which she reacted... with magic. Something he had not known about her.

Suffice to say, the man was left stunned and sprawled across the floor. Verial told him he had to promptly leave and he didn't see the man's face around since. It was true that Salome had probably lost a customer as a result, but no one was going to touch Aursra in an ill manner and get away with it. Though he didn't want Aursra to have the need to defend herself, Verial was somewhat glad she did so before he got to the man who assaulted her.

He didn't want to imagine what might have happened if he didn't hear Aursra's pleas. Or if she had not been able to use any magic. He knew the blast that came from the palm of her hand and fingertips was unintentional, but it was a good thing it had happened. The whole incident had left people in the Siren's Corner staring for a while until Verial ushered Aursra out to someplace safer.

That was the bad side to working at the Corner. He had not told many of his family about the new position he acquired; naturally he was quiet about most things. However, he did not really want any of them visiting during his working hours. It would have just been awkward. Verial could imagine his mother showing up... or what if Kyrian had stumbled upon the Siren's Corner? It was a possibility Verial had entertained and one he did not want to happen.

Salome's mention at a ball brought him out of his thoughts and he titled his head a bit curiously. He hadn't been to a ball or dance since Oneiro times, and he wondered how the people of Aleris might think of a ball hosted by the Siren's Corner. Would people attend an event hired by the land's local whorehouse with an open mind or would they come only to start rumors and trouble? Still, Verial smiled gently at her proposition.

"I think that would be a good idea. Many people don't see the establishment for anything else besides a sexual parlor," Verial started. "Write the king and see what he says. It would be good to show people what else you have to offer - that is massages and beautification services."

For a moment Verial looked out the window of Salome's window. It was daytime outside and he was getting ready to leave soon, having stopped in his boss' office before departing. He watched as a small bluebird perched on the window sill for a moment, ruffled its fathers and then took off again. Verial turned his attention back to Salome.

"If you would like to plan the event, I'd be happy to help and will be there for security reasons and such," Verial said.
