He wasn't sure if his words would have the effect he hoped they would on the shifter, but he felt a bit better just having gotten them out. Now he only hoped that he hadn't angered her enough to kill him in his sleep.

Life had gone on without her in Eternelle Lune, naturally, though just how much time had passed she did not realize until she emerged from the Nexus Chamber. Time moved differently within it, tailored to the will of the one controlling the Chamber. For her she had been gone for months, in Eternelle Lune, weeks. Though that was something of a surprise to her as well as she had expected only a few days to have gone by. Time had passed more quickly than she’d thought, or perhaps she hadn’t wanted to know, preferring to remain in the Nexus Chamber with Valorius.

He’d joined her when he’d felt her anguish. He’d sensed it the moment her Father had enacted her punishment and had wasted no time in coming to her side. And just what was that punishment? It was mental, to be sure, pain being somewhat relative to her after all. Astynax knew exactly how to get the job done and seizing control of her mind he’d forcibly merged the mind of Ameerah with that of Amunet, making her mind whole once again. Now, this might not seem like that big a deal to the average person, but she is far from average. Amunet had emerged to cope with the darker tendencies that Ameerah had issues controlling. She was Ameerah’s ID, her hidden self, and she’d become far too comfortable shunting her more destructive urges to her repressed mind in order to maintain control. It also allowed her to pass the buck and blame all of her less than palatable actions on Amunet rather than taking responsibility for them herself, even though she knew Amunet was not really another personality.

This time Amunet had crossed the line and forcibly turned Alidia for no other reason than she’d felt like it. It was the final straw in a long line of destructive and chaotic behavior and Daddy had decided to deal with it. This would force her to face her destructive tendencies head on as well as taking responsibility for them. Unfortunately it also made her more unstable and prone to outbursts. But you know what they say, can’t make an omelet without breaking some eggs.

If that were all that had occurred within the Chamber then it would simply be a matter of returning to her life, her pack, her friends, and her mate…but life is never simple. At least not for their family. She’d once shared her life with Valorius and when he’d joined her they were reminded about why they had fallen in love in the first place. They had reunited romantically and in the course of their time in the Chamber had even married with Duvessa and Astynax acting as invisible and silent witnesses. A ring of faintly glowing emerald was visible on her left hand ring finger, formed of the ethereal soul energy that was what formed Valorius as well. Another ring, this one red black and made of her own blood, adorned his ring finger.

Needless to say she’d have some explaining to do. Not to mention she owed Alidia a well deserved apology. She was ashamed of what she’d done. She was the pack Alpha, meant to protect, not harm, and those turned should only be done so willingly. She knew that and she’d fucked up. And not just with anyone…with Liddie.

First things first…she had to see Akuma. Parting ways with Valorius when they’d emerged from the Chamber he’d gone to have his own discussion with Mariska whom he’d left behind when he’d come to her and she headed to the warehouse. She didn’t bother with the door knowing he’d be on the second floor anyway so as she approached she stepped into the nearest shadow and melded seamlessly with it, appearing in the living room of his second floor living space. The scent of others assailed her senses immediately; Alidia….Sylvana….and another she couldn’t place though it was familiar…very familiar.

What the hell had gone on while she was gone? Alidia’s scent didn’t surprise her, she’d anticipated that they would have resumed their physical relationship while she was gone and tried not to let it irk her. She hadn’t exactly been faithful either. The unknown yet familiar scent didn’t really surprise her either, but Sylvana’s was unusual. The two knew one another of course but had spent little time around one another and beneath it all was the scent of blood and lots of it.

Frowning slightly her gaze rose as Akuma walked into the room from the direction of his bedroom and their eyes locked, surprise registering on his face to be quickly followed by anger. Naturally. Without another word he disappeared back into his bedroom before again reemerging, his hand tucking the magically modified “cell phone” he used into his pocket. She looked at him curiously but did not get the chance to ask what that had all been about as his voice was quickly lashing out at her.

”Where the fuck ya been, Meerah? Yeah, I know, the Nexus. I went lookin’ for ya and ya parents told me ta fuck off. That’s fine but while ya were off havin’ a fucking vacation all hell was breaking loose here. And yeah, I know ya were with Valorius.”

She’d expected his anger, even deserved it if she were honest with herself, but the nature of his anger was puzzling and definitely a surprise. Ok, he knew she had been with Valorius but didn’t seem as pissed about that as she had expected, his mention of problems while she was gone capturing the bulk of her interest anyway. Drawing a deep breath she pushed down her instincts which said to lash back at him and accepted that he had a right to his anger. All she could do was explain what had happened and hope that at the end they would be able to maintain their friendship. She’d made him; he was her “cub”, part of her pack. Her friend.

”I know….I fucked up. Big time. With Alidia..with you. Trust me, I’ve been punished. That’s why I left. I didn’t go willingly. My father snatched me from our bed, literally, and took me there for my Punishment. Take a closer look..not with your eyes..but with your senses…you’ll know.”

Mention of punishment had cooled some of his anger and she felt him reach down through the pack connection they would always share and could sense his shock at discovering that Amunet was gone and, though she tried to keep him from it, he had also felt the pain that had come along with the transition. The look in her eyes said she did not wish to discuss that part and he knew her well enough to understand.

”I’m sorry Akuma. Really…I am. But what has happened?”

She knew she had to address the issues between them but his earlier words about all hell breaking loose had concerned her a great deal and the not knowing was killing her. It was his turn to draw a deep breathe and she knew she wasn’t going to like what she was about to hear. She was right. For the next several long minutes she listened silently as Akuma spoke as quickly and succinctly as possible, explaining everything that had happened in her absence. Well, almost everything. He told her about Sylvana’s abduction by the demoness Talisy Aensland, Morlis’ refusal to assist even though he knew how to find Talisy, the change that had been forced on Sylvana leaving her half vampire, half loup-garou, and finally about the destruction of the New Orleans Pack.

She didn’t speak at first, her eyes closing as she sought to confirm his words and reaching out through the pack bond she sought out the New Orleans pack only to find it gone…completely eradicated. The only surviving members were those already living in Eternelle Lune, like Sylvana. Sylvana…reaching out she brushed the girl’s essence and felt the change, felt the bloodlust, and understood it all too well. She had once had the blood of the vampire forced on her as well.

To say she was angry would be the fucking understatement of the century and when her eyes opened the crystalline depths burned with an unholy yellow light. She wanted blood but she would take their fucking souls. Akuma recognized the signs for what they were and knew she could easily go off half cocked which wasn’t good for any of them. He needed to distract her, to help her focus. They would address the issues of what had happened to the Pack and to Sylvana but they could not save the pack and Sylvana was changed but alive and mending.

Drawing close to her he said the only thing he could think of to distract her from the rage he could feel quickly consuming her. If she blew up here she’d destroy his fucking warehouse and then he’d be really pissed. His car was downstairs.

”Ya been with him…don’t lie, I can tell. I can feel him on ya. The ring on your finger ain’t exactly subtle, either.”

Once there would have been anger to go along with his words but he hadn’t exactly been faithful either. Startled out of her thoughts the anger remained but was leashed by the need to discuss other things. Though she hadn’t heard his thoughts he was right, these things would need to be addressed asap but nothing would come of going off like a fucking hurricane, which is what she’d usually do. She had to handle things between her and Akuma, find Sylvana and make sure she was alright, and apologize to Alidia. The list was growing.

Meeting his gaze she smirked softly and leaned in to him close enough to inhale his scent. The familiar yet unplaced feminine scent clung to every pore of him and she knew he had been doing his own philandering.

”You’ve been busy too. Lemme guess…one of the Pit danc…”

Her voice cut off as the scent that coated him and permeated his home finally registered…she knew who the scent belonged to and again their eyes met, her own widening with shock and anger. Not that he’d fucked her…but that she lived at all. Natani was alive…and she was here. Her presence was a direct challenge and her lips curled, baring her teeth, a soft growl rumbling from her chest as the Wolf responded and quickly took control.

Realizing what was happening Akuma gripped her arms, forcing her to look at him, and the hold he had on her revealed she’d have to fight him to get free. He wasn’t about to let her go after Natani, though, no matter what it took to stop her. Then again, she still didn’t know.

”Now ya knock that shit off, Meerah! Yeah, Natani’s alive, ya wanna know why? Because she was full of your blood when ya bit her. Yeah, that’s right, she turned ya by bitin’ ya…and she drank so much of ya blood that when ya bit her tryin’ ta kill her…ya turned her too. Ya weren’t the only one who was made a hybrid that night. She’s a wolf now…Your Wolf. And she’s also the one who realized Sylvana had been kidnapped, who helped us find her, and who knew about the Pack bein’ slaughtered. So keep ya funky ass temper in check ‘cause I ain’t gonna let ya hurt her.”

As if she didn’t have enough to think about and digest she was now slapped upside the head with the knowledge that she’d turned Natani the same night Natani had turned her. The vampiric virus had been removed from her by her Father’s blood but Natani had remained as she had been made and sure as shit when she reached out to find her she could feel the presence of another pack bond…this one far tighter than she would have realized it could be.

Slowly she drew from his grip and backed away from him. Their eyes met and they knew without speaking that their romantic relationship was over. There was no anger or animosity though, not this time. They were pack mates, he was her cub, that would never change, and they would always be friends.

He would be able to see the conflicting emotions warring for dominance in her mind and the tenuous grip she had on her control. With the absence of Amunet she could no longer suppress such things and she knew she was on the verge of losing it unless she could anchor herself…and that meant finding Valorius.

”I…I gotta go…I’m sorry. I’m gonna…I..just gotta go. I’m not gonna hurt her, don’t worry. There’s a lot I gotta deal with now…and I think you can tell I’m not exactly…with it, right now. I’ll find where Talisy fled and when I do we hunt, the whole Pack. I’ll be back….we’ll figure shit out…in the meantime…you’re alpha in my absence.

His shock registered on his face and he parted his lips to speak but she didn’t give him time to refuse, she didn’t have the time to argue, she could feel her control slipping and stepping back she merged with the nearest shadow and was gone.

Captain Ambrose and Lt. Aiden stood watching the grounds that had been the Desiderio house. Word had reached her, she'd felt her Creator's distress and as she was on duty and had to help the ones that Val had left in charge when he'd gone to be with his family. She stayed within her limitations to check out what she could. She interrogated the remaining servants and found that Morlis had pulled his old faithful disapperance off to Italy. She couldn't say that she blamed him, although she didn't cast any blame to him.

For the time being she was oblivious as to what had transpired only that she'd felt something. Which was why at Italy yet another of the Ambrose sisters had made sure Morlis knew that he had yet another creation slash ex wife's concern on his side. It might change if she found out what had transpired but as for teh time being the shadows allowed Morlis a light of someone else was in shit for fucking with established people in the empire.

Lately the influx of the Pack in the neighborhood also alerted the tiny redhead that sooner or later, she was going to cross paths with Ameerah again. Not that she bore the Princess any ill will, not at all. She was a eye awakener although anyone said anything they'd find her foot or a fireball up their ass.

Delaney looked to the angel of the Protectorate and slid her fingers over the muscled biscepts a moment and squeezed to get the male's attention.
"Change is in the wind." The demoness murmured with her usual detatched almost predictions that more often were accurate as a crystal glass at seeing what was before them.

Wind blew the dark red hair of her about her face and spine, her foot rested on a rock with her hand on a hell forged katana blade she'd recently procured from a deal she'd made on a trip to hell to find out where the fuck her daughter had gone. Even when she was busy, she at least kept outside tabs on her children. She'd found out that her ex lover's errant daughter was trouble making.

Evidently Tali had bitten off more then she could chew said the whispers within the rings of hell. She'd fucked with the deIngis. She knew only her youngest child was there and as such she respected enough to keep her distance. If her daughter needed her, she had unlimited resources to summon her sorceress mother. Until then she shook her head, something was off.

Turning she headed down the hill with a errant flick of her wrist.
"Change is coming, thigns should be interesting. Perhaps I should send Amy over to Morlis to get her out of the empire for a while." She talked to Aiden and the angel shrugged. "Duty, Captain." She nodded her head and kept walking. "I know."

Discord had long ago traded on her skills as a slayer, she still did it behind the back of others as well. She still hired out as the mercenary she was trained to be so when she'd returned to that of the housing unit she shared with several of the protectorate she almost laughed when a letter was waiting. Another job that allowed her some time to work it after shift hours. Opportune as she was not one to sherk her duties with the protectorate either.

With her phone in her hand she'd plucked something into ear and hit a button and listened to music that filtered through to her crowded brain heading for the training building. She had some work to do, this next assignment wasn't a pretty one.

Post originally by Character_Natani Mankiller

She was happy. Giddy almost. In spite of the chaos of the last few weeks and the tragedy that had so recently befallen the de Sade pack in New Orleans she was walking on air as she entered the Sang de Lune Inn in Eternelle Lune; the Inn that acted as both guardian and rest stop for the public inter-dimensional portal that existed several yards behind it in the woods where it was under heavy guard.

Stopping at the front desk just long enough to settle her balance and check out she waved at the clerk she had gotten to know over the last couple of months and headed up to her room to pack. She was moving out of the Inn and into the Warehouse with Akuma; something she had refused to do until now. She wouldn’t live with him so long as he shared his life with Ameerah, refusing to be ambushed in his bed should Ameerah show up unannounced. But last night…last night Akuma had told her what she had longed to hear but had never thought to. He and Ameerah were no longer a couple. She was still the Alpha of their pack, their maker, and his friend, but she was now married to Valorius and her romantic involvement with Akuma was over.

She hadn’t left at dawn that day as she usually did and had woken up next to Akuma who was already awake and watching her sleep with a grin on his face that said he was as happy with her presence there as she was. He wanted her to move in with him and she didn’t have the heart to tell him no, not now. And really, there was no reason to any more.

Unlocking the door to her room she had taken two steps within when she sensed the presence that waited for her there but before she could retreat back out the door it closed and locked behind her. Shit. She didn’t need to see the figure that emerged from the shadows from across the room to know who was waiting for her. She’d known she would have to face Ameerah at some point but to say she was ill prepared would be an understatement.

Slowly her euphoria faded to be replaced by wariness and apprehension. When Ameerah fully stepped from the shadows and she got a good look at the other woman she was struck by the differences in her appearance but recognized the predatory light in the other woman’s gaze sure enough, she’d seen it right before she’d nearly died during their last meeting so many years before. She didn’t move as Ameerah approached, the urge to sink to one knee and bare her neck in the traditional greeting of the pack alpha was there of course but she fought it down. Ameerah might have made her but she had not officially been accepted into her pack. Yet.

Forcing her instinct down she met Ameerah’s eyes and though she did not challenge her with her gaze she let the alpha see that no matter what she might be able to do, she wouldn’t be cowed. She had fought nearly to her end once before and she’d do so again if she had to. But truthfully she was hoping it would not go down that way.

Ameerah stopped in front of her and still she remained silent, refusing to be the first to speak. She must tread these waters very carefully. She knew how unstable Ameerah was, possibly better than some considering their past, and she wanted to emerge from this meeting with her head in tact. They remained as they were for several long moments, staring one another down, until finally Ameerah smirked, breaking the tense moment.

”Chill out. I’m not gonna kill ya. I wanted to at first, instinct you know, it’s a bitch. But…Akuma talked me out of it. Lucky for you. For the both of us really.”

The tension ratcheted down and she relaxed slightly, brows rising at Ameerah’s cryptic words. Lucky for her, definitely, but lucky for Ameerah? Now this she had to hear. Ameerah began circling the room slowly as she spoke, her crystalline gaze taking in Natani’s meager accommodations though she didn’t comment on it nor did she seem disdainful of them. Her own dark brown eyes followed her movements closely, relaxed but still alert.

”Lucky for me, definitely. I don’t quite see how it’s lucky for you though.”

Ameerah turned her gaze towards her from where she paused next to the desk that was facing the wall to the left of Natani and their eyes met. The same half smile Ameerah was known for remained playing about her lips as she turned to lean her backside on the edge of the desk. Stretching her legs out in front of her she crossed them at the ankle, her hands resting on the edge of the desk next to her hips.

”Well yah see…it’s like this. I’m not right in the head. Everyone knows it. Hell, you know it. From what I understand you ~know~ a lot. Recent events have made me even more unstable. That isn’t good for the pack, we both know that. So..there will be times in the future..probably a lot of time…that I won’t be able to be around them. My duties take me elsewhere as well…so I’ve made Akuma alpha in my absence.”

Natani’s eyes flared wide briefly in surprise at that little announcement. Akuma had said nothing to her the night before though, to be fair, they had been somewhat preoccupied with other things. Turning to face Ameerah she let her hands slide into the pocket of the faded blue jeans she wore, her posture relaxing much as Ameerah’s had, both of them displaying the type of posture within wolf etiquette to project they were not a threat.

”He’ll protect them with his life. He’s a good choice but..how do I fit into it?”

Beyond fucking the Alpha that is. She didn’t say it but the smirk on Ameerah’s lips said she knew she’d been thinking it and they shared a smile in spite of their bitter past. Ameerah nodded, agreeing with Natani’s assessment of Akuma’s appropriateness for position of acting Alpha. Beta? Whatever.

”Yeah, he will, which is why I chose him. He’s strong, very strong, and he will look out for the pack, keep an eye on them and protect them if need be. But he can’t do what you can, Natani.”

When she'd vanished from Akuma's warehouse the other day she'd gone straight to Valorius, seeking the anchor he represented in the midst of the tempest her emotions had become. She'd told him everything, from telling Akuma about them to finding out he had been with Natani, who was shockingly alive. Valorius had not yet been born when the altercation with Natani had occurred but he knew everything about her so she didn't have to waste time explaining. It was Valorius who had suggested the blood bond between them, that Natani might have been created for a purpose though it had been done unknowingly. That she knew of. Whether or not the Parentals new was another story entirely. Pushing from the desk Ameerah again began to pace, prowling the confines of the small room as she explained what she meant by her cryptic words.

”Akuma told me how you were able to ~see~ Sylvana in trouble, how you got the visions of the pack being destroyed in New Orleans. You saw this even when I didn't. Granted there were things blocking my sensing it but still..I should have felt ~something~. When we turned each other...I had drained you to the point that I thought you were dead...until all that you had left in you was the blood you'd taken from me. Like it or not...that changed you. It had to have...if I'm right..you are more purely my wolf than any of the others I've turned. You have the same blood connection to them that I do.”

Pausing in her pacing she faced Natani who had confusion written plainly on her face. She knew what she was trying to say but it was fucked up enough that she found herself struggling to explain it. Finally she signed, her right hand rising to rub at her forehead slightly.

”I'm not going anywhere, I'll still be around, but I can't be here all the time. Not right now. Akuma needs you at his side if something happens while I'm gone. In the old lycan tribes there used to be a position among them called the Pack Shaman. The seer. The pack healer. The den mother, if you will. You've already stepped into the role whether you meant to or not. Thank you Natani...for saving Sylvana.”

One might think saying thank you to a woman she had tried to kill years before, and thought she had, might stick in her craw and once upon a time it might have, but things were vastly different now. She wasn't relinquishing her authority over the pack, she would still be around, would still call on them should she need pack assistance, but she needed them cared for while she dealt with her own bullshit. Like it or not, Natani had already proven herself in that regard.

Shock still registered on Natani's face. Of all the things she expected out of Ameerah, this wasn't it. For a long moment after she offered her gratitude for Sylvana's life she could only stare at her before finally nodding. Struggling to find her voice as she processed everything Ameerah had just laid on her she finally spoke.

”You're welcome...but. Um...Shaman? Really? Me? Are you sure?”

”Yeah..I'm sure. The pack consists solely of the wolves still residing in the Empire now...and not a single one of us is pure loup garou. We're special...and you understand that. Sylvana and Tevy both share the vampire virus with you, you'll understand them in a way no one else will. I'm sure there are more hybrids out there, wolves of some nature with mingled blood..shunned by the stuck up lycan tribes. They'll find us someday. This was our evolution.”

Change and evolution were necessary for survival and their unique pack had evolved into something so much more than just a loup garou wolf pack. Glancing at Natani's eyes she grinned slightly before reaching out and pressing her right hand to Natani's lower abdomen which was revealed by the low slung jeans and halter top she wore.

Natani gasped as heat flared in her stomach, the sudden appearance of blood rising to the surface of Ameerah's skin startling and almost alarming her. As if the blood had a mind of its own it moved over Ameerah's fingers and slid onto Natani's flesh. She could feel the heat searing her skin as the seemingly symbiotic blood adhered to her flesh, merging with her skin as if to become a permanent part of her genetic make up. She tried to pull away but though Ameerah did not have a grip on her she found she couldn't make her feet obey as a sudden rush of energy suffused her.

When Ameerahs had finally withdrew she looked down to find a dark red wolfs paw print seared into her skin, the blood having merged with her skin on a cellular level. She knew without asking that the only force that could remove it would be Ameerah or another of the Eternal Line. Her lips parted to speak, to question what the fuck she had just done to her, but Ameerah only grinned and walked away, merging with the nearest shadow before she could utter a single word, no explanation, no warning...nothing to help Natani understand. She left here there with little more than a parting farewell....

”Welcome to the Pack Natani.”
