I orginally saw this in the occ archives by Memoria and thought it was a good idea. Tell the origin of your character name there are no stupid reasons. When I create a character name I use word association mostly. I take into account race,class,weapons,armor,personality quirks, and even setting. (May-drin) is a name I have used for a babarian that I have made in several rpg videogames. He has never been used in an actual tabletop rpg. I saw Aleris as a world were I could finally flesh out his concept. His name is derived from a babarian's rage ability in DnD. Basically I took mad and gave it a fantasy sound. His last name is from rhyming words with fear it has nothing to do with the Kirks in case anyone thought that. I didn't even see the Kirks until after I had registered. In the end Madrin Kir had a good fantasy feeling so I've always liked it.

-Isabella Redmont-
-I have always liked the name Isabella and to me it sounded regal enough to be part of the Redmont bloodline without sounding too off the wall. Also, yes, I came up with the name Isabella long before stupid Twilight. Plus, I just like the way it rolls off the tongue.

-Ivy Le'Muer (Shroud)-
-The name was given to me by the two people who played Ivy's parents. Jacques and Eponine Le'Muer way back in another game back on Talk City. I chose Shroud as her nickname when she joined up with her first clan, the Dark Kingdom, because her father liked to keep her hidden beneath veils as a child.

-Asurastryfe-
-In Hinduism, the Asuras are a group of power-seeking deities, sometimes considered sinful and materialistic. -Wikipedia. Seemed fitting for this particular family I was a part of.

Those were/are my main characters anyways. I have played many more and a few game controlled gods in my time, but I won't get into those.

Katrophe Denryu.. used to be Kat, then I wanted a longer name. It was my first character so originality was hard to come by. Xezvimhi (Zezz - Vee - Me) is actually Katrophe ran through a cipher. His race, 'Birvuo', is just Denryu ran through the same cipher.

Djarin.. really, I wanted an Arabian name, since Djarin came from Heruin. And Djarin just sounded cool once I wrote it on paper.

Blend/Jelaephon Delai - he's a sailor. All my sailors have nicknames. They're sailors. Blend and Fingers were introduced at the same time, so their names are really probably just due to some raunchy story in their past. But his real name is more curious and makes people wonder what his whole story is. I just kind of made it up on the spot.

Ternal the Kharl'at.. Ok I made up this one entirely, race and all. I wanted a dragon but not your typical fly around in the sky dragon. This one swims

Deruge Altreus - another of my characters. This name has actually been recycled in my storylines quite a few times. First time was in the city of Eliskan back in Odin. Now he's a squire in the Evincan army.

Evinco/Accerso/Corporis/Curatio/Veneficus - the five Houses of Almedda. They are all based on Latin roots (combat/animals/death/healing/magic).

Vita/Contego/Silenti/Praeda/ect - I actually made up the names of the old Mystra-Amor pantheon. As people probably realised, it was also from Latin.



So it turns out 90% of my names are made up. The other 10% are from Latin. Haha.

Huh...didn't know that. Propbably the only one too lol.

*Picks through her memory..* Nari is obviously a Japanese name and for whatever f'ed up reason, I picked it. It was short, easy to remember, sounded kinda bad-ass and I thought it'd fit a young Oriental-looking girl. Obviously, Nari's older now...and the name means 'thunderclap' if I'm correct. So it fits a Phoenix girl!

Bansca..I swiped the name from an NPC list, and this poor fella has been through a lot over the years, but he's an awesome guy.

Pretty sure I answered this before..

Anyways...most character nicks are hunted down via name generators, or just thought up. Or given to me cause someone wants me playing their kid, sibling, or whatever.

Soul of Black Chaos was originally DarkWarrior_90 cause I was 12 and thought that name was cool and then I got into Yugioh and there was a Magician of Black Chaos card I thought was bad ass and I changed it to Soul..

Darius Redmont- Maxim came up with the name and I think Darius as a name is pretty cool

Naiklamuu- was a Shanghelli general in a Halo fanfiction I was writing I transfered him to Mystic as a Jiralhanae(Brute) and thats it, kinda random haha.

Seriously I'm so lame.....Deanna is de Anna French for of Anna......lame I know. DiCorvino is Italian for "of the black bird or raven", De's family crest.

Evil Werebeast was a joke. Adria needed a backup werewolf for a chat night, and so a Melvin was born because honestly, who doesn't like a Melvin?

Sahar means "moon" in Arabic.

Rahne, I totally stole that from an X-men character.

I actually didn't come up with Layla Victoire, but I like it, so there.

Dystopia....heh, self explanatory.

Gethe (Geth) came from Gehenna which is one of the many names for hell, and if you flip the Ge with the while thinking about Gehenna you get the hell. The name sounds demonic doesn't it
