She smirked then as she looked at Kyrian once more. Babysit indeed! She'd take the boy to Siren's Corner first chance she got! HA!

Post subject: History of the Eternal Empire Post

The History...

de Sade...

It is a name that evokes much speculation and rumors inevitably run rampant as to the nature of those who carry such a name. They think they understand..they think they know. Most of it is fiction. Fantasy, pure and simple.

Allow me to enlighten you with the reality.

The Eternal Empire was founded long ago by Duvessa de Sade. The Daughter of the Marquis himself, born into the life of a loup garou, the de Sade bloodline ran pure in her veins, joined with the strength of the djinn lineage granted by her mother she was easily recognized as a woman to be reckoned with.

Leaving her home in the town of New Orleans in the Earth Realm behind she spent a good portion of her existence traveling different countries and even different times as well. Her ability to open rifts in time and space made such things rather easy. Eventually she found herself traveling to another world entirely.

Intrigued by this new adventure she set out to make her way in this new world. Joined by two friends from her life in New Orleansnshe made a rather unfortunate alliance with a man named Dirge. With Duvessa leading them all, together they formed the de Sade Family. In another unfortunate decision she placed Dirge at her side as a joint ruler. This would prove to be the worst mistake of her existence.

The family prospered, new members came seeking acceptance with their rather unique family, and most often they found it, the de Sade's accepting those that most would consider deviant or perverse. It was because of their prosperity that Duvessa did not see the threat that loomed within her own family.

Seductress, her friend and student in the magical arts, turned on Duvessa using the magics she herself had taught her and cast her into a fathomless void for what she thought was eternity.

When it became known that Duvessa had disappeared she convincingly feigned her concern and lead the search parties herself. Wary of pushing them to quickly she eventually convinced them of Duvessa's probable demise and set herself in Duvessa's place, including at Dirge's side.
She had underestimated her opponent, however, and Duvessa eventually escaped and returned with the force of a God, destroying Seductress and any who had given her their loyalty. Dirge was even removed from his position as Emperor and finally left the Empire in shame.

Restored to her rightful place, the Empress set about rebuilding the Empire after the destruction left in the wake of her return. It was not a difficult task as every day more and more people arrived in the Empire, the rumors and legends of the Empire drawing those who sought such hedonistic freedom.

It is the natural course of events for anything gaining popularity, notice, and power to also gain enemies, those who envy what others have managed to achieve with talents they will never possess. The de Sade Empire was and is no exception. Enemies came out of the woodwork, all of them declaring they would destroy the de Sades. See to the end of the Empire. And yet here they still stand. Never defeated, never destroyed, never once dis-banning or fading into the woodwork as so many have done in the face of adversity.

For years Duvessa ruled alone, her iron will tempered by her deep love and devotion for the well being of her family and all its inhabitants. Oh she had her submissives, her lovers, had even consented to marry one at one time though it was a marriage that never came into being, and through it all she vowed none would ever rule at her side or again hold the title Emperor.
Until Astynax came into the picture, that is.

She had known him for years, animosity always accompanying their interactions, reasons hidden deep in their past the cause of it all. And yet..whenever she needed him, whenever she was most in danger, he was there to offer his help, his support, and even his protection. Finally they were able to move past the resentment and anger that lingered from a past long forgotten by Duvessa though painfully remembered by Astynax, and forged a friendship which rapidly grew into a deep and unshakable love.
They married and though it caused some rumblings within the Empire it only served to strengthen the Family as a whole. Now, Astynax had never in all his existence in any realm taken a family name or crests, declaring he would always remain a loner following his own path. He had found a home in the Empire though and soon his began to have a change of heart.
In what was a momentous decision on both their parts, Astynax took the Family name and became Astynax de Sade, and Duvessa named him her Emperor.

They now rule the Empire together. An indestructible pair, their devotion to the Empire shadowed only by their devotion to one another.

As with all things the Empire slowly began to evolve. Their daughter Ameerah Amunet was coming into her own and soon was handed the reigns of the family, if not the Empire as a whole. At her side stood Valorius, the ethereal child of Duvessa and Astynax, the literal other half of Ameerah's being. Beneath their leadership the family began to change. You see, Ameerah had returned to New Orleans and had reclaimed the title of Alpha among the de Sade Pack and slowly more and more of the pack began to join her within the Empire as more and more of the DeSades (Those not of the bloodline) departed. Soon it became a pack/family of de Sade garou and they flourished.

For a time only those of the de Sade garou line joined their family, Ameerah Amunet choosing to be more reclusive just as her mother had been more accepting. A happy medium was eventually reached, however, and those who wished to join the de Sade Family and/or Pack were allowed to join though of course they were very selective. Most were garou/lycans looking for a pack to call their own. Once deemed worthy a ritual blood bonding was performed with the Alpha in order to gain acceptance. Naturally there were those who had once been of the family and wished to be again. To accept one not of the garou lineage would put them at a disadvantage so it was decided that any not of garou or lycan heritage who wished to join the family would need to undergo a ritual that would allow them to take on a Wolf Spirit, though there are few who dare to accept such a force, few who are strong enough to control it.

The Eternal Empire still exists, becoming home to many families and individuals alike not of the de Sade family, ruled over by the Empress Duvessa and Emperor Astynax, All Mother and All Father of the Empire, governed by Ameerah Amunet and Valorius. It is a unique realm, one created, ruled, and filled with magic. Hedonistic pleasure is the rule of the day. Dare you come out and play?
