Post subject: Re: Ashes to Ashes - Aleris on Fire Post

The journey to Grand City was taking far longer than expected, and the former slayer was already struck with the unwavering feeling that the trouble really was just starting -- not just for him and the city which he now wore the colors of, but for the entire realm. There wasn't a single sound to be heard, which was strange even that late at night -- it was like nothing had survived in that area, which made no sense, since it was high ground and had barely been hit by the destructive floods. Fiery eyes shifted left and right, sweeping over the landscape after he came to an abrupt halt, and even after he felt that familiar presence, he didn't bother to look at her until he realized she wasn't moving with him, as she usually did.

The look on her face was something that shocked him -- her mouth was open, hand over it, tears streaming down her face as she surveyed the scene before them. It marked one of the few times that he had seen that side of her, and each instance still surprised him. This was far worse than the others -- the look of horror on her face actually made him want to shield her from it, or comfort her. Nonetheless, their relationship was a working one. The gleam in her eyes and shift in color made it easy enough for him to realize she was using her power to visualize the scene in a different way, though it was impossible for him to know how until she told him.

"It... it's killing everything... Maxim, it's not just stopping with us. Everything, everyone, everywhere... there's nothing alive here, yes, but..." she finally forced the words out, and he absently realized she wasn't quite as cold and cruel as she wanted him to believe. She turned and looked directly at him, and then shook her head vehemently before looking away again. "It's that there's no life here, in any form whatsoever. If it remains this way, then nothing comes after this. It'll be just another empty, dead place littered with just a few ruined cities to show we were ever here in the first place." She closed her eyes, and Maxim was finally able to ignore the surprise of seeing her display emotions like that and mean it.

Against his better judgment, he gently put one arm around her shoulders and two fingers beneath her chin, forcing her to look at him again.

"It doesn't end here, and you need to believe that. Even if you or I were to die, if we both fell... there are so many others fighting to survive that we need not worry about this place," the undead Redmont reminded her, before finally releasing her and stepping back. She nodded and looked away again, and then towards the direction of Grand City, with a sigh. Maxim, however, cast a glance back in the direction of Jade City; there was a sense of responsibility that he hadn't felt in a very long time, and her revelation only meant that time was running out, as if they didn't already have precious little left.

"I know you're also checking for the book I requested, but... are you going to seek out either of them, Maxim?" He sighed, and then looked back towards her before shaking his head once again; the same answer she had received when she had asked him the last time. "No. As far as I'm concerned, we walk separate paths now, and there's no point in pouring salt in old wounds, for any of us," he replied, already settling into that brisk stride again. This time, she actually moved along beside him, tilting her head as she studied his expression. That was useless -- by now, she was well aware that she couldn't read his thoughts or feelings very well. "Did you ever think perhaps Deanna or even Quinn might want to know that you're sti-"

"Drop the subject. Now."

"Fine. I suppose this isn't the best time to tell you, but after you left, I noticed you have a much nicer bed than I do, so I'm using it until you get back."

He stopped in mid-step, and sighed -- there was no point in replying, as she was already gone. Instead, he simply continued upon his way, his footsteps the only sound in an expanse that was devoid of anything else.

Grand City, Eiler -- the palace of King Alerion...

The Redmont marched up the steps of the palace, unable to tear his gaze away from the ruined city -- if it had been so thoroughly decimated, he wondered if there were any survivors from Joi other than the man he had seen at Jade City. The guards took one look at his armor, and both of them crossed their halberds to prevent him from entering, sneers on their faces. He shook his head and lifted a hand to silence them before either of them could make a remark, and began speaking in cold, quiet tones. "Before you say something that could damage further diplomacy between your home and Jade City, let me inform you that I've convinced them to change their stance. I need to speak with King Alerion, as soon as possible," he explained, causing the two sentries to exchange startled, hopeful looks. "Well, that changes a lot. Who shall I tell him has arrived, my friend?" the first man asked, and Maxim's fiery eyes lowered slightly. "Commander Maxim Redmont, of Jade City," he muttered, almost adding the word 'temporarily,' though he didn't. The pair nodded, and pushed the doors of the castle open.

The interior was even worse than he had imagined -- Alerion was trying to shelter as many people as he could, and Maxim could already tell some of them were refugees from other places that had either been devastated or even completely destroyed. It only served to further spark his ire towards Mayor MacJacqass -- if that was indeed his name -- since Jade City could've been helping their fellow Alerisians the whole time.

Better late than never, I suppose, he silently reasoned, waiting for the guards to take him to Alerion.

The Val`nothe that took to the ground was both impressive and terrifying as onlookers in Chaliceton watched it come their way. All at once, panic arose throughout the town and people ran back and forth grabbing loved ones and looking for the safest escape route. Chaliceton was a small town and though it was fortified by a few walls and guard towers, it was no match for the gigantic, shadowy beast that was heading towards it.

Brave men of the small Chaliceton militia readied themselves, offering their lives to protect the city. Catapults fired without warning in an attempt to slow down the beast and perhaps give the town more time. This seemed to work a little, but the ammo in those catapults was hardly any damage to the monster and some boulders even phased right through it.

Elysia had followed the Val`nothe all the way to Chaliceton, though she had lost sight of the monster's brother, the flying serpent-like creature. Instead, he mind reached out to Aurora, her words - her prayers - flickering quickly with warning. There is a Val`nothe headed towards Eiler. Prepare for the worst. The worst was certainly on its way.

By the time she had gotten to the city, she had the horror of being able to see the southern half of Chaliceton being beaten away into dust. Houses trembled and then broke under the weight and swing of the Val`nothe's tail. Heavy stone walls shattered as though they were nothing and people were crushed and killed underneath debris.

Still, the remaining few who were not fleeing from the town fought like madmen with all their might to defend Chaliceton. Once of them (Mandrin Kir) even went so far as to fling himself from one of Chaliceton's remaining walls and scale the side of the beast with his daggers. They needed to leave now and so Elysia tried to raise her voice above the screams of the people and the roaring of the Val`nothe.

"Leave at one! Do not engage it!"

It was only five second later that the soldier who had leapt at the Val`nothe was flung from it about fifty feet in the opposite direction. Elysia watched as the man sailed through the air and landed on the grass not far away from where she was. For a brief second, she moved towards him and leaned over the dazed man, nodding at him quite seriously.

"Seek shelter with your brothers immediately. Do not attempt to fight it unless you have a death wish."

Afterwards, she was moving in the direction of the Val`nothe, closing the distance between her and the beast. As she reached close to its six feet, dodging out of the way as to not be stomped on, the Val`nothe sprayed streams of molten, obsidian-colored acid in the direction of the town. Painful shouts and screams once more filled the area like a symphony of the cursed and damned.

On its second breath, Elysia was able to intervene, stealing a chance when the monster was unaware and readying its second breath attack. As it breathed in and started to let loose more acid, Elysia conjured a great wall of ice effectively blocking the acid from hitting the town. Almost like a mirror, this acid was reflected backwards and hit the Val`nothe head on. It roared out in pain, trying to get the acid out of its eyes and off its skin, kicking four of its legs into the air and aiming for anything it could. Once it was able to see again, it turned its attention towards Elysia, shrugging off the catapults and arrows that were still swarming through the air at it.

"That's right, creature of the dark. It's me you want," Elysia said her black eyes glaring at the Val`nothe.

The Val`nothe understood and as Elysia stepped to the side, rushing away from the direction of Chaliceton and her temple, the nightmarish beast followed her, rampaging in fury after the Goddess of Winter. So Chaliceton and her temple were seemingly safe for now, but for how long? And of course, she could not outrun the Val`nothe forever. Oh no. She needed a plan and she needed one fast.

Wish had to seriously contain her laughter as Victor flushed and stuttered in response to Felix seeing his bare backside. Victor in a rush of words confirmed that he would be okay with shorter pants for now and Felix walked away winking at Victor. Had she been a very jealous person, she might have tackled the King's chamberlain to the ground and slapped him. But she was more amused at Victor's reaction.

"I'm sorry," Wish said holding her sides as she laughed for a moment, doubling over. She caught Victor glowering at her and she straightened up, walking towards him with a smile, all giggles aside. Fingers reached up and she touched his reddened cheek. "It's okay. I would never let Felix have you."

She walked to the side and started to dress in the clothing that Felix had brought her. Wish hadn't even held the clothes up or inspected them; she just trusted that the castle staff would bring her something suitable. After pulling on the clothes and turning back to Victor who was now dressed as well, she only then realized he was staring at her questioningly.

"What is it?" she said and looked down at herself holding a gasp in. "They don't think that..."

The sleeveless dress Wish had pulled on was not an outfit that any woman just wore around. It was the Alerian soldier uniform. The dress, meant to eventually be worn with light armor, was tied together at the sides with laces. Most of the dress was white, except for part of the top that banded around her chest circling down from the neck that was colored in light gray. It was decorated across the chest with the crest of Grand City and a subtle, but ornate trim followed the edges of the outfit, both of these colored in gold.

They think I am an Alerian soldier, Wish thought. A hand went to her brow and she shook her head, letting out a small groan.

"I don't believe I have time to get a new set of clothing," Wish said looking at Victor. "This will have to do for now."

It was just as well. At the time, one of the guards came back into the bathing room with a sort of impatient look on his face. "King Alerion has been waiting for you. Come right away."

Wish hurriedly finished pulling on the rest of the soldier garb. Two dark brown leather belts hung tilted against her hips over the white dress. After that, she pulled on light gray colored knee-high stockings followed by boots that came just below the knee. There was also a pair of gloves that that almost reached elbow-length which she now wore. Both her boots and gloves where white and adorned by gold trim in a similar fashion to the dress she had on.

The female version of the garb she wore closely mirrored what Victor was wearing right now. Both of them looked like they were getting ready to head off into battle, to defend the King's honor. Wish had to admit; she did sort of like the outfit, but she was no soldier.

After some annoying forced cough from the guard, they were finally off and on their way to see King Alerion. As they moved through the castle hallways, she took notice that some people moved out of their way and even went so far as to briefly bow. When they crossed into the main hall, Wish glanced around for Deanna and Quinn to see what had happened to either of them, but could not spot them anywhere. Then Victor and her were out of sight, up the stairs and down the hallway to King Alerion's private study.

They were led inside almost immediately, the door closing behind them. Two guards were in the room with Alerion and Wish swore, as her olive colored eyes darted around the lavish study briefly, that she thought she saw a blood stain on the floor. How odd, she thought. Amongst the beauty and comfort of the room there was crimson coloring on the floor and it looked fresh. Her eyes looked back up in the direction of King Alerion who was staring at them questioningly now.

"Victor Sage, nice of you to drop by finally," Alerion said. His gaze turned from Victor and landed on Wish. "Who is this you brought with you?"

Before Victor could answer, Wish did so for him. "Your Majesty," Wish said dipping into a bow, Victor following her suit, "my name is Wish Star. I am... a new healer at your service."

If she could have turned to Victor, she would have shrugged her shoulders at him quite sheepishly. Did she really just say that? Did she really just commit herself to joining the Alerian army? People sometimes said, if the shoe fits wear it and these soldier boots certainly did fit her well.

"Who is this you brought with you?"

"Your Majesty, my name is Wish Star. I am... a new healer at your service."

Alerion raised a brow at the presence of the woman who stood along Victor Sage's side. Her words seemed unsure when she spoke, telling him she was one of the Alerian guard's new healers. However, she was certainly dressed and wore the garb of any soldier that was under his employment.

"Is this true?" Alerion asked turning back to Victor. While he could certainly use the help especially in the healing department, he hadn't heard news of any new recruits, let alone one that was assigned to assist Victor Sage. Alerion shook his head after Victor would answer and then nodded to him. "I sent you off several weeks ago to find out what is causing the trouble with this weather. What have you found out?"

Before Victor could even reply however, there was another knock at King Alerion's study door. He appeared slightly annoyed at this fact but eventually answered. "What is it?"

"My Lord," a soldier began opening the door and stepping inside. "There is a Maxim Redmont here to see you. He is a messenger from Jade City."

"Maxim Redmont is no mere messenger from Jade City. Send him in at once," Alerion said. In the past, Maxim as well as a few others had helped to save Grand City from the clutches of an evil tyrant named Lumine Ravenholm. Were it not for those brave folk, his city and then perhaps Aleris may have very well been completely taken.

Wish and Victor made a move to step out the room on instinct at a new guest arriving, but Alerion held up a hand to stop them. "You two stay. I have other things planned... for both of you."

As Maxim would enter the room, Alerion waved him forward and stood up behind his desk for a moment, offering the undead Redmont a bow in return. He directed Maxim to a spot in front of his desk where he could stand just a few feet to the side of Wish and Victor who were now silent and waiting for Alerion's next directions.

"Maxim Redmont, it has been a while since those days you helped me rescue my kingdom. Perhaps too long," Alerion said nodding to the green colored uniform Maxim wore. "Tell me, what news do you bring from the neighboring Jade City?"

Post subject: Re: Ashes to Ashes - Aleris on Fire Post

Aurora's Temple, her sanctuary, was a blessing for the people and creatures she managed to secure haven, but the Mother knew eventually they would need to return to the outside world. She was also concerned for those in Joi who were stranded, lost souls who were hungry, thirsty and afraid for their lives. Sadly, the Goddess could not house such poor unfortunate souls, yet knew something, anything had to be done to help them.

She had sent one of her falcons, the male, out on his journey to check the status of her Chosen, Khory. The fierce winged warrior had returned with news that her beloved had finally arrived at Tempesturo's temple, in worse shape than she had left, but alive...and with company. From the description the falcon had given, Aurora could only nod and smile. Verial Akilara. Her beloved child could do far worse than the dragon/drow for a companion, and in truth, Aurora was pleased that Khory would not journey alone. She could only assume that Verial had taken it upon himself to pay Tempesturo's temple a visit, and by sheer chance alone, had run into Khory.

Her winged warrior chittered on about the dead rising from the sands, and Aurora was filled with worry for her daughter and the drow. My swiftest prayers I send to both of you. Remember, Khory, all you need do is speak my name, think of my temple and you shall arrive here safely. Protect each other, and you shall both find a way to the Grand City safe and sound.

The male falcon needed time to rest, and Aurora had praised his bravery and bid him rest and food. She turned her attention to the heartier of her two emissaries, the female. The Mother's fingers glided from crown to the tip of her tail, the wicked clawed bird of prey staring at her with uncanny green eyes. Aurora's eyes. Though she valued both of her fierce beauties, the female was special to the Mother Goddess.

Nimble fingers ruffled the soft grey and tan feathers behind the bird's head, just at the base of her skull to reveal a marking, small but detectible if one knew to look for it. The mark of Aurora, colored the same vibrant green as the Mother's eyes.

“Sweetling, I need you once more. You have served me well, true and faithful, and for that I am grateful. Take to the skies once more and---”

Aurora's words were cut of when the voice of her sister, Elysia, filled her mind. A warning.

There is a Val'nothe headed toward Eiler. Prepare for the worst.

The Mother Goddess went pale under her golden colored skin. The Val'nothe were released upon their world. There would be no stopping such creatures from destroying everything in sight, a far worse fate than Tempesturo's wrath, to be told. Such foul creatures, two in fact, could not be destroyed by the gods. Instead, the four had banded together and imprisoned them in the bowels of hell, the deepest dark of the Eternal Lake.

And now they were loose.

Prepare how sister? My people here are defenseless! The city of Joi is defenseless!

The thought was sent to Elysia, laced with anger and panic, though Aurora knew that it was not her sister's fault the Val'nothe were freed.

“We must have reinforcements. We need assistance, trained soldiers to round up any survivors that remain in Joi and bring them to safety. Jade. We need help from Jade.” She informed the female in hushed tones.

“Fly now, my love. Be swift, but safe as you travel to Jade City. Seek out those who are in power, and...explain to them what I require.” Aurora smiled slightly at her companion. The bird of prey spread her wings and screeched her response. She would do as her Lady Mother bid, without question or failure.

“They are not all bad, my sweetling, the humans. Even those who perform vile deeds, who appear to be monsters to you, even they deserve a chance at life, at redemption. They are all my children. All of them. She stroked the bird once more. “You must plea our case. They must come. Tell them of our plight. Tell them of the Val'nothe. Warn them as well for their own safety, but they must send soldiers to Joi. My people are in grave danger. Now go. My blessings go with you.”

The falcon's deadly beak opened and a scream was heard as she took off through an opening in the canopied roof of Aurora's temple.

The Mother Goddess closed her eyes and began to pray first to her brother Galenous, then to Lady Victoire to warn her of dangers.

Brother, the Val'nothe have been freed. We must take action to stop them! Elysia will need our help, Galenous. She cannot contain them alone!

Layla Victoire, heed me child. Your people are in danger. Immediately seek shelter, indoors and preferably underground if possible. Do not emerge for any reason. A creature comes your way that will destroy all, even those you believe can defend you. They cannot be defeated. Keep your people safe. The beast is already in Chaliceton, and another on its way to Eiler. My prayers are with you and yours, Lady Victoire.

Aurora clapped her hands and turned to her people, commanding silence.

"Hear me! Danger comes this way. You must all now retreat to my inner sanctuary. Huddle together, grab your children by the hands and for no reason whatsoever do any of you leave! No matter what you hear, no matter what happens! Do so now!"

Aurora watched as her children calmly, but briskly made their way to the back of her temple, through the doors and into Aurora's own sanctum, leaving the Goddess alone in her temple to brave whatever may come.

“I'm gonna need a bigger stick.”

Rahne knew the vision of the deer, those poor sweet little deer who were minding their own business, munching happily on the grass before whatever lurked beneath the lake so cruelly grabbed at them to make the deer their snacks would burn in her brain forever. The screams of those poor creatures would echo in her head as well. She would need loads and loads of therapy to get over that.

Rahne hadn't wet her pants since she was three, and she was sorely tempted to do so now. The teen girl was horrified to witness the two creatures rise from the Lake, Elysia's warning to retreat immediately did not go unheeded. The girl was up and running away even before Dravvin had followed swiftly and grabbed her by the arm.

“Get away from the lake!” Elysia had shouted, and without hesitation, they had, running like they had never run before until they were a safe distance away from the lake. Rahne swore her heart was going to explode right out of chest, bursting horribly through her ribs. Kinda like something out of a creepy alien horror movi....err, nightmare.

Rahne noted how frightened the Goddess was, and Dravvin as well. The girl wasn't exactly the picture of composure. Her violet blue eyes were wide like saucers, and if it was possible, she was even paler than before. The creatures that emerged from the Lake were hideous to behold, and Rahne knew without the understanding of such beasts, just from the look upon Elysia's face, that their release meant certain doom for the people of Aleris.

"You must leave here immediately. They will return to my temple and destroy it. Please, Dravvin and Rahne, guide those there to safety. Underground is best. There is a system of caves not far from my temple at the base of the mountains. I must go to Chaliceton."

Then Elysia was gone, and she and Dravvin were left alone to deal with those inside her temple. Her first real apprentice job! Rahne was sure she was going to some sort of hell for being so excited about her new position when surely so many would die as a result of the beasts that escaped their prison, but the girl just couldn't help it.

She eagerly eyed Dravvin, nearly bouncing on the balls of her feet with enthusiasm. “Ok boss! I'm ready! Let's go and lead! Lead those people to the caves! I'm on it!” Dravvin glared at her with those icy orbs of his, almost as if he was incapable of understand the inner workings of Rahne's warped teenaged mind. Which he wasn't. Which bode rather well for the young budding apprentice gal!

Rahne started sprinting in the direction of Elysia's temple when suddenly she stopped short and turned to face the Iceman. “Uh, wait. Did she say caves? Like...caves with bats in them?” Rahne's eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets.

Fearsome creatures that were capable of ruining worlds, incapable of destruction themselves didn't stop Rahne The Fearless from taking action. The idea of flying rabid rats, lurking in the darkness with their nasty bat guano everywhere, threatening to swoop down and tangle in her hair, well...suddenly Rahne felt the urge to throw up.

And she did. Right on Dravvin's booted feet.

Madrin should catalogue the price of riding a six legged gigantic monster without certification. Let's see two broken ribs, dislocated left shoulder, a concussion, and of course major whiplash. His blind rage is helpful in ignoring pain, the real problem is when it wears off he feels like he's been trampled by a giant monster, oh wait he was. Well it could be worse at least he can walk, Pop! man that hurts, however he could manipulate his left arm again. He better see a healer as soon as possible, thankfully the healers temporary location is in a nearby cellar. Blast he hated losing even to immortal beast that the gods themselves have issues with.

"Madrin, you look like you've already been to the underworld and even it couldn't tolerate your presence and threw you back." That smug grin on his face was clearly meant for him.

"George you gnarled old bastard, why didn't you take this opportunity to die." Two can play this game you cocky old goat. Madrin will admit George is tough but, he could name twenty people he would rather see after courting death. George had both his legs broken, his right arm in a sling, bandages wrapped around his head and his back looked like a red ruin. Great!, he was in better shape than him a least Madrin won here.

"How's the rest of your crew are you the only survivor." Madrin's eyes seemed to have gotten some stone dust in them because, when he came down here to see the healers they wouldn't stop watering.

"Yeah, what do you want to reprimand me for failing my men in the field, and then having the nerve to survive while better men than me have gone to Elysia's embrace. Damn this foul dust these civilians need to keep their cellar clean." It seems George had learned some humility after he nearly died, Madrin figured he just needed to know what it feels like to lose comrades.

"Sir where do you think you're going your injuries may be patched but, you still need to rest." This poor women had red eyes from crying and such a serious look, at least she can maintain her composure under pressure.

"Listen miss you are doing a wonderful job and I have nothing against you. However, I have a job to do just like you. I am still a soldier of Chaliceton and I have comrades out there right know in need of rescue. Some of them probably can't even make it here on their own. I may be in bad shape but, I can still walk." Elysia may have lured the beast away but, it's path of destruction still remains. Madrin didn't even want to know how much the repairs were going to cost.

"Elysia, you may be a goddess but even you need allies in the face of this monstrous foe don't be stubborn. We mortals may not be much compared to you but I hope we were of some help." That's twice he prayed in one day he felt like a devout whiner.

"Sedric you foolish bastard why are you unconscious inside this house. Don't you even think of blaming this rubble you where too confident in yourself and got hurt. Why do you always wear so much armor you weigh far too much. Also, you might want to consider losing a few pounds." Madrin didn't want to hear him complain about how it's all muscle, Sedric loves his wine a lot. Madrin will send some strong backs to get to that cellar because, it 's beyond him to help move that much alone. Okay, it was time for him to go back to work.

Post subject: Re: Ashes to Ashes - Aleris on Fire Post

(On the outskirts of Heruin, Drybrush...)

I am Aleris.

And then there was silence for quite sometime until finally another voice responded in the darkness.

That's right. You are, Terra, and the entire realm can't sleep forever. So wake up.

Eyelids slowly fluttered open and crimson hued orbs stared at the ceiling. Terra tried to remember where she was and why she was lying on a bed. Her surroundings at first weren't familiar. She held no emotional attachments to this room, so she knew it was not her own, yet everything always seemed so nostalgic. Placing arms behind her, Terra pushed herself up, raven colored hair falling across her shoulders nearly to her waist. A hand reached towards the tattered curtains and pushed the fabric aside looking out the window. Outside, the sun was shining brightly and vicious sandstorm ripped through the town. From afar, despite the winds, she could see a sign written with the word "Drybrush". Ah, so that is where she was. She had stopped here to rest, though her body really felt no need for sleep.

The inn she was in was quiet and to anyone else, this might have been an eerie feeling. Not many people inhabited the continent of Heruin, but those who did flocked to the smaller encampments or the "bustling" city of Drybrush. But those cities had been taken over by her and many people in result were slain without any feeling resembling remorse. Drybrush, Sarheed Camp, Al`Sir Camp, Tempesturo's temple and Ironhold Prison... all of them were now gone. Those who were able to escape fled to the other continents only to survive and await the eventual slaughter that would find them once more. The whole entire realm was going to be taken.

The woman, alone in the inn, moved away from the bed and placed armor plated boots on the floor. Briefly she gazed at her feet as if transfixed, wondering where to go next. Only three more continents - three more gods - stood in her way from reclaiming what was rightfully hers.

Elved. Go to Elved. You know... Elved was where we were born, only the name has changed over these thousands of years.

"Home?" Terra said her head rising upwards slightly. She looked about the room as if trying to find the voice, but there was no one else physically talking to her. "Psyche, things have changed so much. I wonder, are we doing the right thing?"

How could we not be? They have defied us by bringing Aleris back to life.

Terra pursed her lips together, unable to answer Psyche. She closed her eyes tightly, trying to find an answer within herself, an answer that was guided by her own will and not the subconscious memory of her long lost sister. Why did she ever awaken? Why not Psyche? Was it because she was always the stronger one out of the two siblings and that she was the only one capable of getting rid of the deities, destroying the land and taking back this empty shell of a realm for herself? Or perhaps, because in reality she really did want to be home, even if it meant destroying everything in her path.

There was no turning back.

"You are right," Terra said finally standing from the bed. "This land needs to perish once more with us - to stay dead eternally this time."

That's right. So while the Val`nothe has been set loose --

"I shall go see Galenous."

Reaching to a dresser, Terra pulled over to her a pair of twin swords and sheathed each one at her waist. Though they were near identical, there was a small difference. One sword held two small hollow spots in the hilt where it looked as if some gem might have fallen out in the past. The other blade held one flickering, red stone and one empty spot. Terra let her hands stroke over this precious stone, as if soothing it. For a moment, her hand felt warm and she could feel a ferocity in the gem that wanted to burn her, but it could not.

"Shhh, dear Tempesturo," Terra said looking down at the sword's hilt. "We're going to see your brother and make him come along with us. You won't be alone for too much longer. I promise."

With that, Terra stepped away from her room and headed downstairs towards the inn's exit. In the main room, a man was slumped dead over the check-in desk. This corpse was only one of the many. As she stepped outside, Terra moved past a great number of fallen bodies - some that chose this town as their home and others that had fled here hoping for safety. None had been spared - men, women and children. All were alike in her eyes. If one were to also look at the deceased, they would also see that it appeared as if those people had been completely drained - of their blood and souls.

Leaving Drybrush behind and not bothered by the sandstorms, Terra walked a few miles towards the west of the town until she reached the shoreline where the ocean, now devoid of huge waves and raging storms, lapped playfully back and forth. She stood and looked out towards the horizon. From her vantage point, she could not see much of Elved, but she knew that the marsh-like continent was out there and waiting for her to visit. Where the lone woman once stood armed with dual swords, now cawed the form of a raven. This raven stretched its wings and lifted off into the sky, seemingly unaffected by the harsh winds, leaving the deserts and headed in the direction of the Temple of Autumn.

Post subject: Re: Ashes to Ashes - Aleris on Fire Post

"Wait til your father gets home." Was the saying that Aleris mothers used to scare their children into conformity. When their son was rotten and pulled his sister's hair his mother would say those six words and he would beg her not to tell. Anything to stop the vengeful wrath of "father". Of course once father got home it was never as bad as what the child thought it would be. They were punished, but a child's imagination was always worse then what their father could actually come up with.

Galenous was very much like that father figure to a lot of the citizens of Aleris. During this time of heat and horror, many had flocked to the temples of the Gods whether they'd believed before or not. His temple was no different. Unlike his sisters he hadn't made himself visibly known to anyone in his temple. However his priests had done their job well of making sure they all knew that he was there, and watching. "Father" was home and everything was okay.

Only everything was not okay. At least not in the rest of the world. The heat was killing many and the tidal waves that struck the shores had been disastrous. He'd kept his children safe in their home however and things were heating back up outside. And as any good Father would, Galenous was worrying about what would happen next. Originally he'd planned on waiting til the end to unleash his judgement, however it was looking more and more like he would need to step in early.

That was when he felt it. The Val'Nothe had escaped. Leaving his temple, Galenous set out for Eiler. It was the second target he knew they'd go for. He was sure that the first one would be dealt with by Elysia. She wouldn't be able to handle it alone, but she'd at least be able to hold it off until Aurora could get there to help her.

No sooner had he thought her name, his sister was reaching out to him.
"I know Sister Spring, I'm heading to intercept the second one now. Please, go help Sister Winter." he said in reply. Who was he to take on the Val'Nothe on his own? Surely he wasn't more powerful than his sisters. It'd taken all four of them to seal away the monsters to begin with. He knew that he wouldn't be able to completely contain the other Val'Nothe, however he had his own role to play. He was The Father, and while the others were his siblings, he felt the need to protect them none the less.

It didn't take him long to see his target, the shadow spreading across the land in front of him was a very good indicator.
"VAL'NOTHE!" he shouted. "Turn And Face Justice!" The Autumn God stood...rather floated in mid-air waiting for the beast to turn. When the serpentine creature turned recognition crossed it's features. If it'd been angry before it was furious now. It appeared that time had not erased the Val'Nothe's memory. That was fine by him, as long as the dragon-like beast was focused on him it wouldn't be going after the rest of Aleris...for now.

The beast began to charge him, and as he did Galenous rushed forward as well. It'd been years since he'd had to actually had to fight anyone in a hand to hand manner. He pulled his fist back to strike, when suddenly there came a burst of magic fire from it's mouth. The God of Wind, Justice, and Autumn barrel rolled out of the way and came up under the Val'Nothe's lower jaw. Pushing himself forward, he slammed his fists into the creature's throat, snapping his neck backwards. The earth under them shook from the impact and those who hadn't ran, did so now. The God and the Godkiller traded blows and the world convulsed.

Post subject: Re: Ashes to Ashes - Aleris on Fire Post

Tyrelle saw that they were all tended too, grouped together as well in the makeshift infirmary. He remembered to thank the Captain and knowing he was a busy man, didn't keep him too long. Only long enough to have a few questions answered. He was assured they would be fed, clothed, and a healer would attend them. Relieved that he and his companions had been given shelter, only then did he relax enough to go and help Tristan get everyone escorted to the infirmary. He'd follow whoever led them there.

Some rest did a Satyr wonders. With the healers swift attention to his and his little pack's array of injuries, they were on their way to feeling better. Salves for sunburns were applied, food, drink, and clothing was supplied too. They all felt so much better after a bath. Their grief was still fresh, raw and tender as a wound. Seterios himself, was quiet, struggling to make sense of everything. Tristan and Tyrelle did their best to fill him in and once he had been given the news about everything, he somberly nodded.

The loss of some of the girls he was to protect grieved him deeply. Tera, Lily, Mira, Daisy and the others were saved, but it tore him up that he couldn't protect his other girls. His 'Pack of Beautiues' was smaller now. Even though he should abed, he was sitting in a chair beside Mira for sometime, fingers stroking through her hair as she lay there. He had brought them so far from all they likely knew, across the ocean. It appeared he was stuck simply struggling to survive. They were all much more closely knit now. They had bonded in ways only a small group could. Sure, there might be future spats and disagreements, but they were -His- and he would hold each of them close to his heart. Fingers still stroking through Mira's hair, he felt a hand on his shoulder and looked up to Tristan.

"What is it, Tris?" he asked. The man squeezed his shoulder and motioned him off to the side.

Standing, he followed him over to a small niche along the wall, waiting for whatever news had to be given him. Instead, Tristan drew him into his arms and kissed him fiercely to take his mind off his worries for a couple minutes. Holding him, he peered deeply into the Satyr's eyes. "I've a surprise for you," With that, he drew Set off into a small room and locked the door behind them.

Sneaky Tristan, he had begged one of the healers for a room and ordered it bare of decor, save for a table where some raw meat sat. What was he up too?

"You have brought us so far, and for now, we're stuck here. I know one day we'll return home, but the world is falling apart. We can't have you fall apart on us too, handsome. Simply focus on surviving. We're all sad, and in time, we'll deal with the grief. For now, simply remain living and focused. You need to feed that beast of yours and so I've had some raw meat acquired. It's over there on the table, so shift and devour it. You need to keep your strength up, for all of us. Go on, shift and devour that and then I'll let you out. We can't risk you feeding on innocents or some kids puppy, especially with you being unable to go hunting. We don't know these forests yet." he reminded him.

Before Seterios could object, he was kissed again and locked in the small room. It was bare of decoration, except for the meat on the table. He stripped off the pants and clothes which had been given to him and tossed them aside into a corner. His chestnut fur matched his hair perfectly and the wolf was thrilled at the prospect of a decent meal. It might only be the shoulder of a pig someone had killed, but it would fill his aching belly.

The wolf sniffed at the meat, ears splayed back against his skull. A couple different scents were detected, but he was still grateful Tristan had made sure only he and the supplier had handled the meat. Snatching it off the table, he drug it over to the corner and began devouring it. The first bite of meat and blood hit the spot and the feel of raw flesh in his mouth made him quiver in glee. With a paw holding down the shoulder haunch, he ripped into it with wild abandon. It would take a little while to devour this tasty morsel, but at least his wolf's hunger would be sated.

---------

"Where the hell is Set?!" Tyrelle called to Tristan.

"I got him locked up, so he could shift and not scare folks. We can't have him starving, I got him a pork shoulder. You know that he can't go hunting right now. It's the best I could do on such short notice." Tristan replied.

Tyrelle grabbed him by the shoulder and sighed. "Good thinking, I bet he hasn't hunted since before the tidal waves. He was surely starving." he mused. "For now, it seems we're all he has, family wise. He kept muttering in his dreams about someone...Cytara, then it'd be Najia.. He's clearly worried about them. He's worried for us all, crazy Satyr."

"And rightly so, we're family now." Tristan said, fairly well liking the idea.
---------

No sooner than he got the meat devoured down to the bone and was about to crack open that bone to get at the tasty marrow within, all hell was breaking loose. The world shook and there were screams of terror and panic. Those who could, cowered to cover their heads or were grabbing for and searching for loved ones. Tristan flung open the door and stared at the chestnut wolf, whom he was tempted to nickname 'Red'. And he just might!

"C'mon, shift back, we have to get the girls gathered up. Something is going on...all hell is breaking loose! The damned gods are furious again!" The wolf looked at him with what could only be described as a wolfy 'bloody hell' look. He hadn't expected to shift back so soon, but he endure the excruciating agony with only a long series of growls. When he had his balance, he snatched up his clothes, re-dressed himself and hurriedly followed Tristan back to the girls, who appeared frightened.

"What the hell is going on now?!" he asked while he snatched up a wet towel and cleaned himself off before anyone could notice. At least his beast's hunger was sated. For the moment.
