Post subject: Return of the Chronicle
For months the Chronicle building sat empty, the large brick edifice dark and silent without the hum of activity or the sounds of steam powered printing presses to give any indication that there was life within. And of course there had not been. The Editor in Chief, Sarine de Ingis (née Desiderio), had hit a sort of bump in the road as far as her personal life went and as a result the Chronicle suffered. It was undetermined for quite some time if she would be able to pick back up the mantle of Editor but eventually it was decided. She would return and she was coming with lots of ideas and plans for some changes.
And so it was, in the dead of night, that the Chronicle lit up like a Christmas tree, every floor of the brick building blazing with light as Sarine opened up the tomb like building and set her staff to putting things to rights. The first floor of the three story building housed the reception area in front, the printing presses taking up the rest of the floor. The second floor was comprised of conference rooms as well as communal space for the employees. And it was the third floor that housed the offices for the Editor in Chief and the three Reporters who staffed the Chronicle, the largest, of course, being Sarine’s.
The physical and cosmetic reparation was easy enough. Within the week the building had been cleaned from top to bottom, every office furnished, and each floor outfitted with everything it would need, the more cosmetic things like new paint and furnishings easily accomplished. It was the more nebulous necessities that would take more time, such as reporters and stories for them to write about. In the past Sarine had done it all, both the serious news as well as the gossip column. She had bigger plans for the Chronicle though, and frankly, did not enjoy doing the gossip column. That position was easily filled but the others…those would likely take some time.
In addition to the Gossip column and her Editorial, there would now be interviews with prominent Alerian citizens as well as a society section where people could announce important events in their lives such as marriages, divorces, deaths, births, important functions, anything they wished Alerian society to know. She could only hope that those positions would fill as quickly as the Gossip column did.
Though it would be at least a month before a full issue was out Sarine wanted the Alerian population to know what was afoot with their beloved newspaper and hopefully get the word out about the desired reporters. With Hale standing watch as she worked into the wee hours of the night a Breaking News announcement was written up for the This Just In section of the newspaper which the presses were churning out by the hundreds shortly afterwards.
By daylight there were couriers all over the Grand City as well as in the other major cities of all four Lands in Aleris hawking the Chronicle, criers and newsboys announcing the return of the Chronicle and a special article by the Editor in Chief. By midday anyone who was everyone would have a copy and all would know…the Chronicle was back in business!

Post originally by Character_Hael Di TemporaleYou could only sit in one place for so long before it felt like you were going to go out of your skull. Sure, things were easier when he had Sarine around. She made everything more fun, but the problem was she wasn't always able to be around. It'd be a lie to say he didn't get jealous sometimes but that was a small price to pay if it meant he could have her. He'd been made for her so a life without her in it just didn't make sense. Besides, nobody said things would always be the way they were. And he could be really patient. For now he'd deal with it but one thing that he couldn't deal with anymore was the sticking around in one place for days on end. He was already going stir crazy 'before' Sarine killed Rain and gave him intense combat knowledge and instincts she'd had. The way it all happened was really different from how it usually went down in sci-fi books or fantasy novels. There wasn't any clouds or lightning, no miraculous cosmic oneness with all things. He didn't even get any enlightenment. Rain just kind of...died, Sarine asked him to touch her, when he touched her skin it was like someone dumped a frigging dumptruck full of ways to kill people into his head. And wouldn't you know it...with that shit came an even 'more' intense need to be moving and doing something. And masturbation just wasn't a reasonable option. It took a day or 2 of thinking about what he wanted to do with his time before he even began to have an idea. The list wasn't long but it summed up what he was looking for. It had to be fun..otherwise he wouldn't stick to it. There couldn't be a lot of work involved..because that'd defeat the whole purpose of fun. It'd help if he could get money doing it. It had to get him outside the frigging house for a while. And the final thing..when he thought about it, it really helped him decide just what he should be doing. The last thing was that he wanted to try and find something that got him more time with Sarine. Well it didn't take a genius to figure out that the best way to do that was to be around her where he knew Stativare wouldn't be. Where else could that be but the news paper she worked at?!He figured it'd be easy to get a job there. Just go for something that nobody was asking to do, and act like he wanted to do it. That was the plan anyway when he headed out of Narion. When he left there wasn't anyone around, Sarine was at work while Najia and Stativare were..somewhere doing..something. The rest of the people staying at Casa de Dismal were doing what they always did, sitting around and waiting..pfff, no more of that for him! His frosty ass was getting a JOB.On his way to the news building he felt amped up, like his mind was going a mile a minute and every muscle in his body was twitching. For some reason he felt like he had to run and that's what he did. He hauled ass down the street like he was trying to outrun his own damn shadow, and soon that wasn't fast enough so he froze the soles of his shoes and started "sprint-skating" down the street. There wasn't any stopping, no slowing down, he couldn't. When something got in his way..like the loaded carriage backing out of a distillery, he just jumped the hell over it. The trip should've taken at least an hour by train, and he made it on 'foot' in half the time. When he finally came sliding to a stop in front of the news building his chest was moving fast and he was breathing really deep. It felt good though..the adrenaline, the burning in his muscles, but damned if he knew why. After he caught his breath and ran his hands back through his hair he did a quick once over of himself. Black steel toe boots, pair of faded ash-grey jeans, black leather jacket over a dark blue hoodie. Well..it wasn't like he was applying to be a lawyer or anything. Besides, as far as his wardrobe went this was as conservative as it got. Taking one last deep breath he headed inside the building and walked to the first person he saw. Got to start somewhere, right?"Hey. Um..I was looking to see if you guys had any job openi.."Before he even got to finish the woman pointed in the direction of an office on the other side of the room. Ok so he guessed that was going to be the person who'd either hire him or not. Straightening out his coat he walked over to the office and gave a 2 knuckle knock on the door before opening it and taking a step or 2 inside. The second he saw her face he smiled and his head tilted while he moved further inside."Hey there. I was wondering if you had any positions I might be able to fill."

Post subject: Re: Return of the Chronicle
Everyone at the Chronicle knew Hale. He was at her side when she re-opened the building and was usually at her side every day after that. He couldn’t be with her all the time, however, and this evening was one of those instances. It was nearing the end of the month when the next issue would be due and she had yet to hire anyone to cover the Spotlight or the Society Pages. If no one was hired she would again be responsible for the pieces which in and of itself was fine it just meant she had less time to spend with Hale or even with Stativare for that matter.
It was because everyone knew Hale that he was instantly waved down the hall towards her office. At least that had better be the case or the twit sitting at the front desk would soon find herself unemployed. She felt him before she saw him; the sudden wave that felt like a cool wind brushing over her skin heralded his arrival so that her head was already raising and a smile touching to her lips when he walked through the door. It wasn’t uncommon for him to visit her so she wasn’t surprised by his appearance but the words he spoke were something of a surprise. He wanted a job at the Chronicle?
Though surprised the idea was a good one and he would be able to see the excitement enter her gaze of burnt umber as she rose from her desk and strolled around the large mahogany piece; an expression few people ever saw on her face. Hell, few people ever saw any expression on her face. If he worked at the Chronicle she could see him all the time, he could even share her office if he wished to. It would give him a means of financial independence as they both knew she would not insist on controlling his income in spite of the unique nature of their relationship. And he was smart, scary smart, she’d made that a condition of his creation and the addition of Rain’s knowledge only made him more so.
Already she was considering which position he would be best suited for and by the time she was standing in front of him she knew exactly what that would be. She had two positions left and frankly she couldn’t see him sitting around waiting for notifications from the population of Aleris about their impending weddings, births, divorces, and deaths. It was an important position but not one that required a lot of action. The other position, however, would definitely require some persistence. It was for the Spotlight, the section of the newspaper that would showcase prominent Alerian citizens and she wanted more than just a string of fluff pieces talking about how awesome those people were. She needed someone smart enough to get the good information out of them, someone able to ask difficult or even taboo questions with a great deal of charm and persistence so as to ensure that they answer them.
”Oh, I have several positions with your name on it. I also have the perfect job for you here at the paper.”
An uncharacteristic grin touched her lips as she proceeded to explain that which position she had in mind for him. Hale had been with her every step of the way in her rebuilding of the Chronicle so he was well aware of the responsibilities that would come with taking on the Spotlight Column. Retiring to her desk they spent the next hour or so discussing his place at the Chronicle and possible candidates for the first ever Spotlight Feature. She wanted one ready to go up with the next edition of the Chronicle and the end of the month was coming quickly. When it had all been decided on she leaned towards him and pressed a soft kiss to his lips.
”You’re hired.”’
