Our Voices

He wasn't sure if his words would have the effect he hoped they would on the shifter, but he felt a bit better just having gotten them out. Now he only hoped that he hadn't angered her enough to kill him in his sleep.

For a while I've wanted to set up a sort of questing system for this RPG. I've been working on something that can utilize things in the game that aren't really used right now, like classes and levels. I also have another objective. Some of these quests would require more than one person, meaning working with people or asking others to join you. My point for posting this is, would anyone be interested in doing quests at all?

My thoughts are that quests would be initiated by a player and then the GM staff (via an NPC account) would help push the player's quests along by whatever means. Essentially, the quest could be different for each player. Quests do not necessarily need to happen with a player's current storylines; you can make them happen whenever you see fit. As we all know, things are not always linear in the world of RPing.

So here's some silly examples:

Quote:

Quest Origin: Elved, Shimmer Town
Level: 15+
Class: Fighter or Rogue
Number of players: 1
Total word count: 1,000 words divided between more than one post
Rewards: 100 exp, 50 gold and an awesome sword
Objective: A unicorn has attacked a bunch of men from Shimmer Town with rainbows and then headed off towards the Cave of Mystical Wonders. Track down the unicorn and steal it's super rainbow powers to prevent it from attacking Shimmer Town again.
Instructions: Post this quest in the "Elved" forum with the tag (Quest) in your post title.

Quote:

Quest Origin: Eiler, North Joi
Level: 30+
Class: Fighter or Rogue and Healer
Number of players: 2
Total word count: 1,500 words words divided between more than one post
Rewards: 200 exp, 100 gold and a land parcel (does not count to your daily parcel purchase limit)
Objective: The rainbow unicorn is back again, only this time he's much angrier than before and has an army of disgruntled gnomes. Stop the unicorn and his onslaught of gnomes from wrecking havoc and taking over North Joi.
Instructions: Post this quest in the "Eiler" forum with the tag (Quest) in your post title.

Thoughts?

Whats this Word count thing? Is it a restriction that you have to have at least 1000 words to qualify? or something else?

For any particular quest you have to have "x" amount of words divided between any number of posts in order to complete the quest and get the reward. For example: If the requirement was 1,000 words and you write three posts - one with 300 words, one with 600 words, and another with 100 words - then you meet the quest requirements. Of course, you can always write more.

The word count would be in place to make sure people actually make an attempt at participating in the quest and aren't in it for quick rewards. Most of the word count requirements shouldn't be too difficult to meet anyway, at least I don't think so.
