Doubly surprising considering she was a vampire succubus and he a satyr but, there it was. The supernatural version of Milo and Otis.

Madrin had enjoyed his time with his mother. She taught him a lot about battle, from tactics to weapon use. However, the most important thing she taught him was how to use the family gift or curse. The evil wizard Gerthluo wanted to create a better warrior, so he tried many magical experiments. He tried many forms of transmutation that resulted in a race of mountain lion bipeds he called Galuwrath. The problem was that they could not follow orders without a commander to manage their impulsive frenzy. Gerthluo could not maintain his control over all his forces so he needed to appoint generals to keep them in line. He decided to use a obedience control spell on his commanders. However, he wasn't satisfied with that. He wanted his creation's rage to be harnessed in a more intelligent animal. Gerthluo chose his most talented general for his twisted experiments. Madrin's grandfather had no choice but to comply due to his masters control. Gerthluo used arcane arts to manipulate his grandfather's anger into a weapon. The final product was a man that was little better than a killing machine when battle began. Sadly, it became a genetic trait so, Madrin had to tame his inner beast in order to use it without killing everything in sight. Thankfully his mother had ten years to learn how to keep it in check.

He decided to begin a journey to redeem his family name so that the people no longer feared them as evil murderers. He started off claiming no last name in order to keep a low profile. Gerthluo's rampage occurred twenty years ago, but storytellers still recited tales of his crimes. Also, the remains of his army of Galuwrath still travel Eiler in packs. Madrin served as a mercenary for several campaigns against bandit groups all over the continent. He even spent time as a tracker for hunting parties seeking rampaging monsters that endangered the local cities and towns. He was also a bounty hunter for criminals so dangerous that they were wanted dead on sight.

He spent many years moving from one battlefield to another seeking a cause. Then he realized that he had done nothing to improve his families reputation. Madrin realized he had only given the people more reason to fear him. He was glad that no one had died by his hand that didn't have it coming. However, he had done little of note. Madrin decided that Arthuran is where he should go to help people that needed it. Tempesturo's unexplained lunacy was causing problems all over Aleris from famine to pestilence. The Eternal Lake was cracking and creatures of unknown power were about to be unleashed on the world. As a warrior Madrin was resolved to be on the forefront of the battle for the people of Arthuran. He knew that as a mortal his chances may be slim but, he would not let Chaliceton be destroyed without a fight. He boarded a merchant ship bound for the city as a guardsman for their goods.

Power of any kind is a tool, whether you use it for good or evil is up to you.
