He wasn't sure if his words would have the effect he hoped they would on the shifter, but he felt a bit better just having gotten them out. Now he only hoped that he hadn't angered her enough to kill him in his sleep.

In reference to one of Deanna's posts here: http://aleris.neverend.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=121&t=828

Though silent, the gods were always listening and it wasn't unlikely that one of them would have heard Deanna's prayers. It was Elsyia who had heard Deanna's petition for Mal and though it was her rightful place to decide where he would eventually come to rest, the Goddess of Winter held Mal's soul within her hands for much longer than usual.

She stood alone, almost complete blackness surrounding her with the exception of a patch of flowers. For the most part, they seemed like ordinary flowers, but there was something in the way their ice blue petals bloomed that made them appear almost alive.

"You are quite blessed, you know?" Elysia said looking down at the glowing entity in her hands. "Had she not prayed for you... there would not be much I could do for your soul. You are lucky to have met Deanna DiCorvino, or else I could certainly sense that your soul would have fallen into further corruption and chaos."

The soul, cradled within the palm of Elysia's hands, flickered faintly as if a firefly. It was an indication of a response; one only Elysia would hear or ever know of. The thoughts of the fallen, of those who had passed on, were often not shared. These eternal wishes were sacred and though Deanna would never hear any words meant for her, she would certainly feel Mal's spiritual presence occasionally, as if a whisper on the winds.

"I am almost certain she will be fine," Elysia said with a nod again speaking to Mal's soul. "There will undoubtedly be times of struggle for the therianthrope, but nothing you can help with at this point. For now, I grant you rest... as that is what Deanna has wished for you."

Elysia stepped towards the bed of flowers and pointing her fingers downward, let Mal's soul drop like water onto an unbloomed flower. The flower caught him and its petals slowly started to unfurl. She waited and watched it for only a moment longer, certain that Mal had finally gotten some much needed sleep and started to move away, walking an invisible path out of the darkness.

"As for the prayer to a vampire, to Maxim Redmont, to love..." Elysia said, a hand momentarily grazing her chin as if in thought. Her hand dropped away shortly afterwards and was followed by a sigh. "That area is not my forte."
