Doubly surprising considering she was a vampire succubus and he a satyr but, there it was. The supernatural version of Milo and Otis.

Odin hadn't really expected to be welcomed with open arms when he made his presence known to Ainsley. What he hadn't expected was for Ainsley to have heard the conversation he'd had even if it was just his side. Nor did he expect her to actually assign him duties alongside the rest of the Redmont Family. He wasn't sure if he should feel honored or dejected.

He decided that if he was going to be given a job, then he was going to do it right. For weeks he stayed with the Redmonts, working beside them and showing them ways to improve their security. He'd made it through fairly easy, but now with the increased personnel, the sporadic watch patterns, and the special bracelets that detected unfamiliar magic in the area, the Redmont's home was now something that he wasn't sure even he'd be able to get into without someone finding him first.

The youngest Kirk leaned back in the chair he was sitting in and smiled to himself as he took a sip of the tea he'd been drinking. If things kept going this well the Redmonts might be able to start making themselves into something of a private security firm for the rest of Aleris. It was something that he'd planned on bringing to Ainsley's attention soon. He just wasn't sure what the best way to approach her about it.

Odin decided that the next time he had a free moment he was going to sit down and write out a plan that would show Ainsley how his idea could work. Of course he'd have to draw up a diagram showing the pros and cons of making The Redmonts into a brand more so then a family.

Standing Odin looked around, the room he'd been in was suddenly very empty. Had he been sitting there day dreaming too long? No, someone would have smacked him if he had. Ainsley had given all the Redmonts orders to be very strict with him, and they all seemed to take pleasure in making sure he knew when he messed up. Nothing had happened. No one had yelled. Nothing. That was odd.

He turned, looking around the room and found nothing still. As he finished the circle there was suddenly a figure standing in front of him. It didn't flash into existence, or pop into this realm. It just suddenly was there. The being stood about as tall as he was, with similar height and body weight. The sight of him made Odin jump at first, then he realized who it was.

"Ok, how did you do this? This is new."

The being before him stepped into the light. Odin stood looking at himself.

"Well, it's something I've been working on for a while. I took what Ainsley said to heart, if someone heard you talking to me then they're eventually going to start thinking you're insane. This way we can talk and you don't have to worry about people knowing." he smiled, but it wasn't the warm smile that Odin was known for. There was something darker to it. Something, malicious.

"Fine, what did you have on your mind? Why did you call this little meeting?"

"Dear brother of mine, I've called this 'meeting' as you called it, to tell you that you need to go talk to Ainsley. You need to tell her about your idea, and that you might be able to get that collar off of her. You just need to man up and do it."

"Rupert, there's more to it then just telling her..."

"No Odin, there isn't. Just tell her."

Odin jumped out of his chair, and dropped his cup of tea. It shattered, spilling the rest of his tea all over the place. He looked around as the Redmonts just stared. Flushing, Odin stood and made his way out of the room. He paused right outside and could hear as the talking started. Yeah, this was going to go a long way to make him seem less insane.

Time and time again, Ainsley caught herself wondering what she was doing still taking care of the Redmont Estate. Perhaps it was because some insane part of her cared to keep the family name strong and without her around, she imagined they wouldn't know what to do. Things had shaped up since Ainsley took control of the Estate. No one had bothered to question her authority or capability as temporary leader again; though she did hear hushed whispers from time to time and dismissed them as childish prattle.

Their food, armor and weaponry storages had gotten significantly stronger, which was a good thing. Ever since Lumine had decided to waltz his pathetic hide in and take over The Outlands, things throughout the land had gotten rather dismal and resources dwindled. Ainsley was trying her hardest to make sure the land's natural resources were once again plentiful, but it was tough work.

At least she did not have to worry about security. Odin Kirk had indeed seen fit to do a fine job at that after she put him in charge of the position. He had closed a good number of loop holes and tightened the possibility of any person trying to sneak in. Ainsley was sure, however, that he kept such a close eye on everything concerning the Estate's security because he didn't want her to throw him out. She wasn't about to give him the ol' heave ho, but there was a certain sort of satisfaction knowing she did have this hold on him. She had also seen fit to let the other members of her family pick on Odin and give him a hard time; mostly, it consisted of harmless jokes.

When Ainsley saw Odin coming her way, she tried to duck out of view but unfortunately her current position did not allow for such an escape. She had been keeping watch along one of the high walls that surrounded the Estate, wrapped up in warm clothing. Snow had fallen over the Estate during the day and now that it was night out, a thick white blanket was covering the ground with the occasional disruption of foot prints.

As Odin was trudging through the snow towards her, she caught sight of four men huddled together and laughing. When they saw Odin, they hid themselves around one of the smaller storage buildings, each one armed with a freshly packed snowball. Ainsley watched thinking this might be good. It just might make her laugh.

He was looking up on the wall and noticed Ainsley standing up on the wall above him. Odin didn't notice the four guards that had hidden and where currently taking aim at him. He was about to go into the Estate, when the attack happened. The first of the snow balls hit him in his shoulder and spun him around. The second and third hit him in the chest and knocked the wind out of him. It was the forth that knocked him to the ground. The last one actually seemed to be packed with ice. As he fell a light flashed behind his eyes and when it faded, he noticed that there was blood on the ground under him.

Odin coughed and spit, blood mostly. When he stood he heard the laughter from the guards. Face and chest throbbing, he turned his eyes to the men. Slowly his vision began to turn a shade of red. Clenching his fist, the youngest Kirk could feel the power building in his hands. Almost without thinking about it, he lashed out. Ice whipped out around the group like a snake wrapping around them. With a twist of his hand the ice shattered and small pieces embedded themselves into their flesh.

He couldn't take it any more. The constant picking and nagging had finally broken him. He wasn't the smartest, strongest, or fastest of anything, but he'd be damned if he was going to let anyone push him around anymore. Everyone had their breaking points and Odin had just found his. After spending the last few months letting all of the Redmonts push him around he was done.

After making sure that none of the men were actually dead, Odin gathered the wind around him and used it to propel himself to the top of the wall where Ainsley had been standing and watching. Turning to her he felt his anger subside slightly, but only slightly.

"Ok, I was going to come to you and give you an idea I had for your family. But after this I've decided that I'm not." inhaling he found himself calming more, "I've seen how they treat you here Ainsley. No one respects you or appreciates the work you've been doing. I'm leaving, come with me." He reached his hand out, "Not to mention, I might be able to work on that collar of yours."

He held out his hand and in his breath. Would she come or kick his ass out of the Badlands and not think twice about it?

Ainsley didn't interfere when Odin had unleashed ice elemental magic upon the people that jokingly attacked him. Perhaps the young Kirk had been pushed too far, and Ainsley could definitely sense a restless hostility within Odin. Nevertheless, she watched from her vantage point in kind of a scholarly way, studying Odin's magic that was otherwise unseen until this point. However, another part of her watched in jealousy; how she wished to have the collar removed from her neck and be able to use magic again...

Before she knew it, the attack was all over. The Redmonts who had chosen to pick on Odin scrambled away, ice still embedded into their skin, their tracks left in the snow. She slowly turned her indigo hued gaze towards Odin as he rather launched himself onto the high wall she was perched on. At first when she heard his words, her cheeks grew warm and a bit of anger washed over her. To say her family disrespected her authority... well it had been true on more than one occasion. And after his final suggestion, she grew confused and blinked her eyes at him.

"Go with you?" Ainsley said a slender brow rising slightly across her forehead. She found herself shaking her head. "No, Odin this is my family and they would fight if I asked them to, but..." Ainsley turned her eyes away from him and looked at the fortress she had helped rebuild in Maxim's absence. It had been a lot of work and she constantly found herself questioning if it was all worth it. Since she had been resurrected, her goal had been to secure the throne as Queen of the Redmont family, a position that had been taken away from her by the Bluefield family nearly 1,000 years ago.

Now, there was a certain sort of restlessness about her. Things had changed and in those many years that had come and gone, she desired knowledge and magic that she had otherwise missed out on. If there was anything else that Ainsley cared about just as much as the well being of the Redmont family, it was her thirst for wisdom and experience. With Odin's idea implanted into her head, it had come time to decide what was important really: her own happiness or that of her family's? Why should everyone else - Maxim, Daphne, Jass and all the others - be allowed to go wayward and herself feel devotion towards staying? Why could she not let her feet flee as well?

Suddenly Ainsley looked back towards Odin and nodded. "Let's go," was all she said. With that, she took his hand and started running from the fortress that was once called Northcross. I shall leave them to their own devices and see what they can do, Ainsley thought. Perhaps that is what the Redmonts needed; to fight over power or to try and work together without the presence of any clearly defined leader.

The Redmont Witch needed to be a witch again, and for once, to think about her own future.
