When she saw the blood pouring from his chest she automatically let him into the house and saw to his wounds. He was bleeding badly from multiple gashes on his chest and arms. He'd been torn apart by a beast. Father surprised her yet again with his passion later that night. She was afraid of hurting him worse, but he seemed unfazed by the injuries. He told her afterward his name and what had happened. He also told her that he was married, but that she would always have a place in his heart.
It's amazing what people will tell you on their death beds. I didn't find any of this out until two weeks ago. It explained a lot though. For example why I constantly found myself out at night, looking for the undead. Yes I killed many vampires in Aleris, became a slayer just like my Father.
Twelve months ago I became very ill. My face was already scarred from a couple rough encounters with a lower demon. He took me off guard, but in the end I came out ahead. Literally. His skull is sitting on my table. Over night my hair died, and fell out. When it grew back in it was stark white. My scars deeper, more pronounced. I didn't question it. As long as I able to continue my work I didn't care.
On her death bed, my mother told me who my father was. She also told me he was back in Aleris. I started my search after we buried my mother. My questions and...persuasions...led me here. To the Oaken Barrel. There was only one person in the tavern.
"Hello Nathaniel Redmont. I think we need to talk."
