Rules of Eligibility:
1. Candidates must be a citizen of Aleris (registered characters only).
2. Candidates may not hold another office at the same time as they hold their seat on the Tribunal, i.e they can not be a recognized Priest or Templar/Paladin/Judge/Champion of the gods or hold any other office in Aleris. Should they hold any of these positions and wish to run for a seat on the Tribunal in the event that they win the Tribunal Seat they must vacate the other office.
3. Candidates may not be Ambassador or recognized Leader/Ruler of an Outer Gate. Should the candidate hold said office in the event that they win their seat on the Tribunal another must be named Ambassador/Leader of their Outer Gate for the duration of their tenure as a member of the Tribunal.
4. Candidates must have experience in the subject matter ruled by the Tribunal seat they are running for. For example, the Minister of Spirituality must have a history serving the Gods such as a priest/ess, minister, etc. The Minister of Defense must have a history in warfare and/or defense of a large city/family/realm as a soldier or warrior. The Minister of Civil Concerns should have a history caring for a large settlement such as a city or realm, they must be willing to put the concerns of the people over their own as this position is the direct line of the people to the government, the one who ensures the prosperity of the Citizens of Aleris.
Running for Office:
1. When a Tribunal seat becomes open an announcement will be made and all those interested in campaigning for the seat will be given one week to announce their intent to run for office. (This should be done by starting a new thread in the Tribunal forum. This is also the opening salvo for your campaign so make it good.)
2. As stated before there will be a period of one week in which all prospective candidates may announce their intention to run for office. At the end of this week the election will be closed to any new candidates and the campaign week will begin. The candidates will have one week to convince the citizens of Aleris that they are the best person for the job. (How this is done is entirely up to you so get creative!)
3. At the end of that week the campaigning will end and the polls will open. The citizens of Aleris will be given one week to cast their vote. At the end of the week the polls will close and the results will be tallied.
4. Should there only be one candidate for a particular seat this does not automatically guarantee that the candidate will win the spot. In this event the citizens of Aleris will still be given a voice and when voting they will be able to vote for or against the candidate. When results are tallied there must be more votes “for” than “against” to win the seat.
In the event a member of the Tribunal is found to be remiss in their duties or are accused of a misuse of power a special hearing can be called and King Alerion will be called upon to pass judgment which can include removing the Tribunal member from their seat of power entirely.
