Thankfully, the small scale war was put to an end with barely any casualties. Meristali was killed in battle and those Corpirians who were left standing were taken into custody by the Almeddans. Though King Elias has sent aide to the wounded Almeddans, official word is that the Almeddans are to move their camp and soldiers back to their temporary base southwest of the Hyperborean Mountains. With one terrible event after another, Aleris' King wants to put some distance between the people and any more future tragedies and threats. Nevertheless, trade between the Almeddan Empire and Aleris will still progress as normal.
Also in the news, an unknown liquid substance concocted from magic and blood has been circulating Grand City's markets. This unnamed drug, which bears no relation to the previously distributed "Soul Ease", was being manufactured in a warehouse by a group of about ten men. One of our reporters was at the scene to put a stop to these men and their dealings. They were apprehended and the city guard was alerted to take the men back to the castle dungeons. The man in charge of the drug dealing operations is currently being held for questioning. If you have recently been in dealings with this drug or even have some, official word is to discard of the substance immediately. The effects of the drug, though it may appear as harmless at first, are negative and life-threatening. After some investigation into the warehouse where it was created, it seems that the addictive substance was only brewed to force gold and possessions from people who were lulled into buying.
In Arthuran, the Winter Masquerade Ball went by as usual. I was present at the event for the first time ever and it was quite the party. Others say it was more elegant than the previous years. The event was approved by Lord Verial Akilara of Arthuran, but he states that the planning of the party was entirely handled by his trusted advisor Sahar and the head butler of the Northsea Manor, Edgar. The Winter Masquerade Ball is held every year in Chaliceton to give thanks to Elysia. For many, it is also to pray for a safe winter as the season can be quite ruthless across all of Arthuran.
