Madrin's leather greaves were shredded beyond repair at the end of the battle of the crystal grove. Due to this he needed to replace them before he headed off to the winter masquerade ball as a guard for King Elias. The Executioner's block seemed different from the last time he saw it. The place shinned as if newly polished. He admited he liked the new look. "Greeting's madam I would like these greaves." Once she took his money, Madrin headed out to make preparations for his journey ahead.

Times Change, People Change, And The World Keeps Turning. What Was Important Yesterday May Be Less So Today. And Yesterday It Was Important To Maintain The Stability Of All Things. Balance, Equilibrium, Things Like That. However, That Was Yesterday.

Today Was A New Day. With New Days Come New Ideas And New Perceptions. It Had Taken Him Almost 2 Decades To Understand That Even Imbalance Was -Still- Leveling The Eternal Scales. Good And Evil, Light And Dark, Balance And Imbalance, All Of Them Were Required. And As Far As He Was Concerned The World Would Figure Itself Out. In The End It Wasn't About Doing What You -Thought- Was Right, It Was About Doing What You Felt Was Right. The Weapons And Tools He Had Purchased Only A Short Time Ago No Longer Felt Right – He Had To Fix That.

Journeying To The Executioner's Block That Had Recently Opened In Heruin He Decided Not To Follow His Eyes, But The “Sensation” Of Each Item, And That Would Decide His Purchases.

The Shop Was Different But Still Familiar, Familiar Enough For Him To Recall The Layout And Where Each Separate Type Of Item Resided. This Second Trip Was Much Quicker Than The Last, And In Only A Few Minutes He Had Taken Several Items From Where They Lay And Was Soon Walking To The Counter.

”I'm going to buy these. This scythe, this pistol, and these pieces of chainmail. I'm also returning this Tome, this old chainmail, and this pistol. They..don't fit anymore. And this should cover the difference."

His Words Were A Little Strange, And The Look On His Face Had A Slightly Malicious Nature To It – As If He Had Plans For What He Was Buying. Once Everything Was Taken Care Of And He'd Laid Whatever Extra Gold Was Necessary On The Counter, The Entire Scythe Seemed To Be -Drawn- Into His Left Hand, Disappearing Within It As If Sucked Into Some Kind Of Vortex. He Was Already Holstering The Over-Under Flintlock Pistol Under His Coat As He Left The Shop. As For The Chainmail, It Wouldn't Take Long To 'Weave' It Into His Clothing.

Return:
Advanced Tome
Chainmail
Pistol

Purchase:
Caplock Pistol (Over/Under Style)
Battle Scythe
Chainmail Hauberk
Chainmail Chausses
Chainmail Head

Dystopia's first day working at the Executioner's Block was rather...dull. No one had ventured in all day and she was left with little to do but organize their inventory and dust. She supposed it had much to do with the current economic state Aleris was in. People were far more interested in buying food and clothes for their families, not weapons. The Block was pretty spiffy and polished when Madrin Kir finally walked in and poked around the leather goods. Dystopia snapped to attention with a smile on her face and visions of gold in her future.

"Greetings and salutations, sir! Feel free to browse around and ask me any questions you might have." Dystopia's rather manic and desperate grin would have put off any potential customers and their purchases, but this was Madrin Kir. He was Lord Commander for the Grand City military and one didn't get that position by running off with their tail tucked between their legs at the first sign of mental instability, even in a total babe such as Dystopia :)

Giddy with the promise of currency, Dystopia marked the purchase of one pair of leather greaves Madrin presented to buy, practically bouncing with joy over her first sale. "Excellent choice sir! That will be six hundred gold." Money was exchanged and Dystopia bid him a farewell, encouraging him to return to the shop for more weapons and goods in the near future before fist pumping and rubbing the gold coins all over herself with glee.

And so it was that The Executioner's Block had opened three other branches. They now had a store in Drybrush, Bariston and Chaliceton. Each store had also been stocked to the brim with weapons and armor. The arrival of much needed new inventory excited Memoria. The only problem was... stocking everything. It took a lot of work to reorganize those shelves so it was no surprise that she was still doing just that when Valorius stepped into the shop.

Valorius browsed around for a few minutes; he seemed to be familiar with the store and Memoria, well she remembered him from somewhere. This nostalgic feeling she had was even further heightened when Valorius came up to the front desk with his purchases, placing some older equipment alongside the new. The other items where from their previous stock and weren't quite up to par with the new inventory. It was no wonder why he wanted to get an upgrade.

"Of course, sir," Memoria said as she exchanged the items for Valorius' new ones and took the remaining gold. She did note the malicious look in his eyes, but really thought nothing of it. For all she knew the man could have had a vendetta against squirrels and wanted to hunt them down. This thought was shaken from her though when the scythe Valorius bought seemed to merge into him. Memoria took a step back, opened her mouth as if to speak, but never said a word before Valorius ventured out the door with his purchases.

"Must be the sun in Heruin turning these folks crazy."

Truly, how the mutt did anything worthwhile without her was utterly baffling. Left to her own devices Ameerah had purchased the most base of weapons from the Executioner's Block when it had first opened in Eiler. Clearly the store had little to offer if the daggers, chainmail, and magic tome she had purchased were any indication of the quality of their supply. Why had she bothered to waste the gold on it when she could have just imported weapons from home? She would never understand her logic.

It was the height of luck, in her opinion, that she had come across a new storefront for the Executioner's Block in Drybrush right here on Heruin and from the looks of things they had improved their weapons inventory. A notice in the storefront's window had declared that any of the inferior weapons previously purchased could be returned and a credit applied towards new weaponry had made the decision for her. They were getting better weapons, whether she liked it or not.

It had been at least two days at this point since she'd allowed Ameerah to resurface and no one had any idea it wasn't the mutt behind the wheel, so to speak. No one save Valorius and she aimed to keep it that way. She didn't want anyone to know she was back, especially Ameerah. Not yet. Not until she was ready. Like it or not Valorius had to depart to see to his troops with a parting warning that, as much as he wished to her stay (because why wouldn't he?) she was going to have to let Ameerah out to see to some of her duties. Sure, just as soon as she was done. Once left on her own she left the island for the mainland of Heruin and the city of Drybrush, the old weapons in a satchel over her shoulder.

The ringing of a bell over the door heralded her entrance to the newly established shop. Though it was significantly dimmer in the shop she did not remove the dark sunglasses that hid her eyes from any who might notice they were red, instead of their typical amber-yellow. Approaching the counter she deposited the contents in front of the clerk.

”I'm here to trade these things in.”

The moment the last word died on her lips her attention was turning to the weapons the shop now had to offer. They weren't quite up to her standards but they were a vast improvement over what Ameerah had purchased. Besides it gave her an excuse to spend more of Ameerah's money. She'd hit Valorius' wallet where it hurt with a grand pile of jewels she'd purchased at a jewelry store in Eiler, now it was time to lighten Ameerah's purse a smidgen.

There were several items that caught her notice and she found herself torn between several items. Deciding she would buy them all the counter top soon acquired a new pile, this time of items she wished to purchase. Namely, a set of Ulak Fighting Knives, a set of Bladed Fans, and a Braided Whip. She eyed the leather body suit they called armor but sadly they did not have one in her size so it was left behind this time. The pile was a bit smaller than she'd hoped but even with the new weapons there was little that interested her. She was just going to have to find some other way to spend Ameerah's money.

Approaching the desk she fixed her gaze on the clerk and though it could not be seen it would be hard not to feel the weight of it descending on you.

”This will do for now.”

Opening a new shop in Heruin was a good idea save for the fact that it was too god damn hot. Memoria was just in the process of taking a light whiff of her armpits, her nose ducked under her arm, to make sure she wasn't sweating too profusely and stinking the whole shop up when the bell over the door jingled letting her know someone was entering. Quickly per posture straightened and Memoria stood alert taking in the sight of the customer that entered.

She knew this woman. Not only was it the Padishah of Heruin, but Ameerah had been in The Executioner's Block ages ago and purchased some sub-par weapons. Back then, Ameerah had expressed her disinterest in their current stock and it appeared by the satchel of weapons over her shoulder, she was here to acquire something new. The Lady of Heruin confirmed this fact when she dropped the weapons on the counter letting Memoria know and started to browse about the store.

"Of course, Padishah," Memoria said with a smile and a slight bow. "I hope you find our selection up to par now."

After several minutes, Ameerah returned with a few different weapons and Memoria began the exchange. Bundling the new weapons up and securing them with a thin braided rope, Memoria pushed the weapons back over the counter to the Padishah of Heruin.

"Thank you for stopping by," Memoria said. "I do pray that they are of better use to you this time around."

Note: Ameerah, you still have a 1500 credit for armor. I did not do anything with that credit because in the post Ameerah only had the weapons in her satchel.

For a short time Wish was a soldier of Grand City's army and during that time, she had chosen a rapier as her weapon. But the time had come for upgrades and as it was, The Executioner's Block had recently improved their stock as well. With a new journey ahead of her, Wish needed new weapons. She entered Grand City's weapon and armor store, the bell of the door sounding, and began to browse around.

Picking out a sword was always a bit difficult for her. In the end, she decided on a cutlass, a sword that was light enough for her and felt right. Wish also gathered a pair of leather greaves and a leather studded hauberk. She brought all of these items to the front desk and set them down to get out her gold.

"Just these three things, please."

It was rare that Aleris' elusive Sorceress was seen manning the weapons in Grand City but with the opening of sister shops on all the other continents Dystopia and Memoria had been sent to see to business there and today it was her turn to see to the shop on Eiler. Business had been slow for the majority of the day and in an effort to distract herself from the tedium she was moving about the weapons shop, a feather duster in hand, as she waved it at the occasional item. She had paused to peruse the new advanced tome the shop had acquired when the bell over the door jingled announcing a customer.

Glancing up it was to see the figure of the Paladin of the Goddess of Spring herself entering the weapons shop. Smiling at the fae woman she quickly moved behind the counter, the feather duster tossed over her shoulder to land who knows where.

”If you need any help finding something let me know.”

Wish seemed to know exactly what she wanted, however, and after taking her time to look over the newly stocked items she chose a few and approached the counter. Another smile was given to the Chosen of Aurora as she perused the chosen items and began to calculate their cost.

Wish had already taken out her gold and after counting out the appropriate coins the items were handed over to their new owner. ”I hope they serve you well, Madame Paladin.”

Times Change, People Change, But The Necessity To Adapt To Every New Situation Was Always The Same. His Personal Life Had Taken A Harsh Blow And To Be Quite Honest He Was Still Recovering From What Had Happened -- What He had Lost. The Only Way To Keep Himself From Dwelling On What Happened Was To Focus On The Only Other Constant In His Life; His Work.

To Do His Job And Do It Well The Right Tools Were Needed, And There Was One That He Still Had Which No Longer Had A Purpose. It Was Still In Perfect Condition, Although, Being Contained In His Left Arm Had Modified Its Atomic Structure And Adapted It To Him Specifically. The First Time He Had Used The Weapon It Was To End The Lives Of Those Who Took Part In Amunette's Imprisonment. Then Later It Was Used To Fight Along Side Her Against The Threat Which Infested Ironhold. The Pistol He Carried Had Been Used At All The Same Times, But For Some Reason The Scythe Carried More Bitter Memories. The Firearm Didn't Carry The Same Measure Of Negativity For Some Reason. Perhaps It Was Because The First Blood Spilled By The Scythe Had Been For Retributions Sake And Not The Law. It Had Been Used For Something Personal; Vengeance.

Vengeance Against Those Who Had Hurt Her And Made Her A Prisoner.

Every Time He Saw The Weapon It Brought Thoughts Of Amunette Whether He Wanted It To Or Not. While The Bond Had Been Stripped Away, The Memories Of Her And All The Years They Spent Side By Side Were Still There. Maybe One Day Those Memories Would Serve To Bring Joy, But That Day (If It Ever Came) Was A Long Way Off. Too Long To Carry Around Something That Brought Such Guilt And Loss To Him.

It Took Time To Start Moving Forward, And It Would Be A Slow Process But It Had To Start Somewhere. That Somewhere Was The Executioners Block In Heruin. Fortunately The Sickness That Was Plaguing The Continents Had Struck The Smaller Areas First, And Because Of It There Was Time To Take More Precautions In Drybrush. The Main City Was Well Defended, And With Intercontinental Trade At A Standstill All Supplies Were Being Brought In From Eternelle Lune. This Seemed To Keep The Large Desert City Relatively Plague Free For The Time Being.

The Bel Telal Had Been To The Shop Several Times And Knew How The Process Went. When He Entered The Scythe Was Already In Hand, Its Physical Appearance Having Been Altered Since The Shop Keeper Had Last Seen Him. He Was Greeted Pleasantly But Offered Only A Glance As He Rested The Scythe Against The Counter. The Words That Followed Were Quiet, Subdued, Mostly Empty. He Cast Quite A Different From The Last Time He Had Shopped There.

"I need to get rid of this. I don't have use for it anymore. It still works incredibly well. In exchange I..."

His Words Cut Off As He Realized He Didn't Know What To Replace The Scythe With. Glancing Around The Shop He Began To Quickly Weigh The Pros And Cons Of Every Weapon His Eyes Passed. Finally His Attention Stopped On The Firearms Section. As He Moved From The Counter He Was Already Looking Over Each Piece On Display.

His Right Hand Eased Inside His Coat And Brushed Across The Holstered Over Under Pistol. A Thought Came To Him That Every Weapon Had A 'Feeling'. Knives, Swords, Axes, Bludgeons, They Were All 'Intimate' Weapons. If You Wanted Someone Dead You Had To Look Them In The Eye, You Had To Feel The Blade Or The Blunt Make Contact. You Had To Not Only Want Them Dead, But Feel That Death In Every Twitch Of Muscle. Firearms Could Be An Intimate Weapon, But For The Most Part They Were Void Of Such Personal, Physical Connection. Aim The Barrel, Pull The Trigger, Job Is Done.

Cold, Indifferent, And Detached. That Sounded Perfect. Things Had Been Too Personal For Too Long. If He Was Going To Have Any Hope Of Holding Heruin Together Without Its Padishah He Couldn't Allow Personal Feelings To Cloud His Decisions. He Had To Decide Out Of Reason, Not Out Of Revenge Or Anger.

His Eyes Soon Stopped On A Double Barreled Pistol. The Barrels Were Side By Side Instead Of The Over-Under Design He Already Had. It Was A Perfect Companion To The Gun He Already Owned, Being The Same -Howdah- Style. Also, It Too Was A .69 Caliber Percussion Cap Firearm That Was Built For Accuracy And Sheer Stopping Power. Most Important Though Was That It Provided Distance -- Distance Between Him And His Target. That Made It All The More Valuable.

Distance Was What He Needed. To Do A Job And Do It Well It Had To Be Just A Job And Not An Outlet For His Rage. The Time For Being Petulant Was Over. If The Desert Was Going To Survive He Needed To Be Like A Firearm. Efficient, Uncompromising, And Reliable.

The Pistol Was Taken From Its Case And He Moved Back To The Counter. The Scythe Was More Expensive Than The Pistol So The Trade In Value Was More Than Enough To Cover The New Weapon.

"I'll take this. I have plenty of shot and powder, and the holster I'll make myself" When The Shop Keeper Set The Remainder Of Gold Upon The Counter He Glanced At It, Claiming The Satchel With A Bit Of Hesitation And Stashing It Inside His Coat. Another Nod Was Given As He Turned And Headed For The Door.

Stopping At The Exit, He Glanced Over His Shoulder To The Merchant And Spoke .

"When you lock up, lock up tight. And be careful. If you've got anyone worth caring about...tell them the same. Things are going to become a lot worse here before they can be made better. We just....have to hold on."

Maybe The Merchant Said Something But He Didn't Wait To Find Out. The Door Closed Softly Behind Him And He Disappeared Down The Street. He Had His New Weapon, Now There Was Just The Matter Of Testing It.

Indifference Could Wait Until Tomorrow.

(OOC Note: I would like to apologize for the delay here. I have no real excuse. I just kept forgetting. :( Please forgive me, Valorius! *hides under table*)

When the door to the shop opened, Memoria sat up immediately and reached for the sword that was propped by her seat. She kept her hand gripped firmly around the hilt and eyed the person who had entered. In this day and age, it was strange there weren't more patrons in the weapon shop considering the amount of people who had turned violent from the illness going through Aleris. But those people who had turned brutal weren't looking to pay for their new weaponry; they were looking to tear people limb from limb and take whatever they wanted. She already had fended off a few of them herself. She hoped that Dystopia and Sorceress were faring well themselves.

Thankfully, her position at The Executioner's Block required her to be a sort of expert at using and knowing weaponry of all kinds.

Nevertheless, she found herself breathing a sigh of relief when it was the Bel Telal himself who had entered the shop, a man who had been trying to control the plague on Heruin. However, the man look different no doubt and she was taken aback to see he was returning the scythe he had purchased only a few months ago. Memoria eyed it and then nodded.

"Sure, it's a good model and likely someone else can get some use out of it. Please, take your time looking around."

As Valorius came back, he placed a pistol on the counter. When Valorius had purchase his scythe, he bought another pistol at that time. She was a bit surprised that he wanted to carry around two pistols, but what better weapons these days to keep the crazies at bay. Absently, she looked down at her sword wondering if something more ranged might be better.

Memoria made the exchange and listened to Valorius' warning. She opened her mouth to say something, but before she could, the man was already out the door.
