Out of nowhere Valorius had arrived at their home with Sharay in tow, the woman announcing she wished a vacation and, in the process, to get to know the Padishah a little better. So...then that happened. Though her motives were somewhat suspect Valorius did not seem to think Sharay had any malevolent intentions. Time would tell if she was there truly out of a desire to get to know Valorius' mate or if there were other intentions lurking behind the overture of friendship. At any rate, the woman would need a place to stay in the meantime and, as she had declined staying in their home once she heard Amunette was a screamer it was decided that a structure would be constructed on their island a suitable distance away so as to allow Sharay her privacy and vice versa.

Today was all about finding the right location. One might ask oneself why it was such an issue given that Absolom Isle was just a giant sandbox, but there was the odd, small, oasis that provided for a more appealing vista. Did she wish to face the coastline of Aleris, as they did, or open ocean, that sort of thing, really. While preparing to depart for a tour of the island Valorius was called away by the Protectorate, naturally, and departed with a promise to catch up with them as soon as he could. That left Amunette alone with Sharay. What could possibly go wrong with that arrangement she couldn't imagine.

The island was rather large, when one got down to it, and Sharay could virtually end up residing a “state” or two away from them, as far as distances went. More than enough room for the three of them to reside peaceably. As she assumed Sharay would wish the most appealing spot to place her abode Amunette took her to those places she felt would suit. The first was a small cluster of palm trees around a tiny pond oasis not far from the coast of the island that faced the even smaller island beside them. The second had no trees or water but created a slight promontory upon which the structure could be built, allowing for a breathtaking view of the open ocean as it faced away from Aleris completely.

The third boasted little more than scrub brush, but was nestled into an inlet on the eastern coast of the Island that would allow for a view as well as to be hidden from casual sight from the coastline. They all had their benefits and, no doubt, deficits, and there was plenty of space yet to explore but they had to start somewhere or else they would just be wandering about the desert like a couple of peyote popping hippies. If Sharay did not care for any of them, she would simply go to the next possibility.

Once the third location had been explored sufficiently crimson eyes turned to rest on Sharay, examining her profile as if seeking some sort of hint as to which location had appealed the most to her.

”Do any of them suit you?” she finally asked. Turning her attention back to the coastline and the ocean behind it, the distant outline of the island that housed Ironhold Prison to the distance in the left. ”Once you pick a location we can discuss design. Depending on the amount of energy needed to craft what you want it may take me a day, or two. Once upon a time I could have done it in moments, regardless of size, but no, not now. Not now that the mongrel went and gave up being a Djinn so she could go back to being a flea bitten dog. Do you have any idea how long it took me to influence her to accept the Djinn back? Then the fucking bitch just goes and lets it get taken away.”

It had actually been Valorius that had broken the crystal that had released the wolf and, as such, ousted the part of her that Amunette had wanted to keep but he hadn't known what he was doing. He hadn't known, then, that Amunette was the rightful mind and soul meant to inhabit the body she possessed now by force. If Ameerah had just let the wolf dissipate into the Universe instead of trapping the essence in a crystal and hanging on to it like a damned security blanket, Valorius would not have been able to play the hero and break the spell. Realizing she had been rambling she smiled and glanced back to Sharay as if she hadn't just been having a borderline psychotic episode.

”So! Do any of these suit you? If not, there are other locations we can explore, more inland.”

Sharay had to hand it to Amunette. The woman, this Padishah, was doing her very best to make the Goddess feel as welcome as possible considering the circumstances, going so far as to give her a tour of the Island and potential spots for Sharay to set up suitable housing during her stay in Heruin. The Goddess was quiet during their locale search, silently admiring the views of the ocean and flora, each location possessing its own beauty. Sadly though, as serene and picture perfect as they were, Sharay knew the only place she would feel truly at ease, in comfort, would be her own temple. Something that was hers, created by her, forged by her own nature.

Sandals in hand, Sharay wiggled her toes against the sugary sand, enjoying the heat and waited a beat or two before replying. She had no intention of offending her hostess, but somehow she felt that should she politely decline the generous offer, it would not affect Amunette one way or another. And so the Goddess turned to face the red haired woman, a small but genuine smile forming on full lips.

“You are most kind, Amunette, truly. Though your island and the potential for housing in my honor boasts so many possibilities, I cannot accept. Not because none would suit me, but because it simply is not...me.” Sharay’s explanation held a pause before she continued, her head turning to survey the landscape. “Truly I do not require a ‘home’ in the traditional sense. A place of worship, that is something different entirely. My temple, oh how I do miss it,” Sharay sighed and shook her head ruefully. “It was a most spectacular temple indeed, but it was more than that. It was mine, entirely, created not by mortal worshippers, but myself entirely. It came from me, you see.” Sharay was aware she was getting a bit nostalgic and perhaps Amunette could care less for her tale, but something compelled the Goddess to offer valid reasoning for the rejection of Amunette’s offer.

“My intent is to stay in Heruin for as long as I wish, and yes, to partake in your company as well as Valorius’. As for where I shall reside during that time period,” Sharay grinned then. “Allow me to concern myself with that, but again my thanks.”

There was nothing more to be said on the matter, at least not where Sharay was concerned. Whatever plans she might have brewing would be kept to herself. There was no true need to involve Amunette or Valorius, not yet at least. Since Valorius had been called away on duty, Sharay found herself alone with Amunette for some time, but there was no reason for the other woman to babysit the Goddess. She did not call upon Amunette to play tour guide...Valorius yes, and the man had accepted without hesitation.

“Your time has not been wasted. Your island and all its surroundings are quite lovely, and I thank you for sharing them with me.” Tilting her head in consideration, Sharay tapped a finger to her lips as she spent a second or so deciding what to do next. “I think I would like to see the Marrakash Marketplace. Perhaps the Zenana as well.” Sharay nodded, having heard of the popular destinations of Drybush by word of mouth. “Yes, I believe that would be a good starting point. If you would like to accompany me, I would enjoy your company, if not well then,” Sharay grinned, “if you see Valorius, do send that boy my way, would you my dear?”

They were standing on the final location when Sharay thanked her for her hospitality and then proceeded to refuse it. Not just refuse it, but in the most condescending manner possible. Her hold on her emotions was tenuous at best and Sharay’s words were like pouring gasoline on a lit fire. Perhaps her reaction was a bit strong, all things considered, but it didn’t occur to her right away, that just maybe her anger and aggression were coming from somewhere else. Oh, not entirely, sure, but it was amplified to a degree it might not have been otherwise had not something else been at work within her.

”Really now? You couldn’t have said something before I traipsed all over this gods forsaken sandbox? As if I don’t have better things to do than babysit a would be goddess with an over inflated, and quite frankly undeserved, ego?”

As the words passed her lips they rung with a harshness in her ears that was not entirely her style but awareness dawned a little too late. Her back to Sharay the other woman would not see the look of pure rage that passed over her features though she would see the way Amunette suddenly hunched over as if in pain, she would hear what sounded like choking that quickly morphed into a guttural growl. After several moments she straightened and her head whipped around to look back over her shoulder at the object of her hatred, her eyes burning with yellow amber light. In other words, Amunette had left the building.

”No, you diseased whore, I will not send “that boy” to you.”

She turned to face Sharay, her fingers now tipped in deadly claws, her canines elongating into dangerous fangs.

”He’s not yours and no matter how much you might try, he never will be. You should be grateful to him, though. He is the only reason you aren’t dead right now. But you will be if you don’t get the fuck off of my continent. I see you again, you die.”

Her body jerked as if she’d been struck, nearly doubling over from the force of it. Panting she kept her eyes fixed on Sharay as she slowly straightened back up. The waning sun cast plenty of shadows to suit her purposes and moving towards the largest cast by a nearby dune she stood on the edge.

”If you know anything about me you’ll know that isn’t an idle threat. If you have any care for that body he gave you and the putrid soul it houses you’ll be a good little girl and get off Heruin.”

She turned away and stepped into the shadow, disappearing from sight as she entered the Shadow Lands. It had been a while since she had traveled them herself, they had always been more Amunette’s cup of tea, but that didn’t mean the skill wasn’t there and after some time wandering the Shadows she finally stepped free in front of the home she had built for herself and Valorius to start a new life. Hah. Valorius. Amunette had succeeded in keeping a great many things from her while she’d been suppressed in her own body but one thing that had reached her, even with all Amunette’s tricks. Valorius had chosen which side he was on and he had chosen Amunette. The pain of his betrayal ate at her as she stared at their home, her eyes welling with tears she hated herself for.

He wasn’t there, she would sense it if he was near. That was fine. She didn’t want to see him right then anyway. She didn’t want to talk, didn’t want to hear what he had to say. A sudden shout of pain ripped from her, her head thrown back from the force of it as Amunette attempted to claw her way back into dominance. She held on, refusing to give up control even as it felt like her insides were being ripped apart. Feeling moisture on her lips wiped at them, her fingers coming away smeared with blood.

Her eyes remained fixed to the blood on her fingers, the ramifications of what it meant flooding her mind but rather than fear it just fanned the flames of her fury. Focusing on the blood on her hand she willed as much of her energy into it as she could until it ignited within her palm. She fed it until it had grown to the size of a basketball. Her hand shook as she fought to release the ball of fiery energy at the house, Amunette’s will attempting to circumvent her own, to stop her. Her entire body trembled with the force of their clash of wills. For now Ameerah was the victor as, with a scream of pain and fury, she hurled the white hot ball of energy at the house.

It exploded on impact, flames licking voraciously at the side of the structure. Valorius would come. He would sense the threat at the house and he would come. Turning away from the burning edifice she staggered towards the nearest shadow and vanished into its inky depths. Once cloaked in their protection she turned her mind towards the next issue…where would she go?

The Sea Wolf. It had ever been her refuge and it was the first place she instinctively thought to go. Then a memory surfaced from within her, like a bubble released from the depths of her to pop in her mind, showing her the destruction of her beloved ship. More than that she could sense Amunette’s glee at showing her the memory she’d deliberately kept from her until just the right moment and, well, no time like the present.

Ameerah was nearly undone by the grief caused by Amunette, nearly lost her tenuous grip on her control of the body. Nearly, but not quite. As luck would have it her grief was followed by anger and that alone kept her going. Where would she go now? She had no other refuge in this land. She could go home…no. For all she knew they would destroy her if they felt she couldn’t control herself.

Heruin. For now Heruin was still hers and changing her course of direction in the tricky shadow lands she traveled she finally stepped free of them within the Magister’s Manor in the city of Drybrush. No Magister had been appointed yet and the manor sat empty. As the Padishah she was within her rights to occupy it until a Magister was chosen. It would do for now.

"Really now? You couldn’t have said something before I traipsed all over this gods forsaken sandbox? As if I don’t have better things to do than babysit a would be goddess with an over inflated, and quite frankly undeserved, ego?”

The Goddess stiffened, her fingers curling so that her nails dug into the palm of her hands at the hostility that poured off in waves from Amunette. So this was how it was going to be? An offer was made and declined. It should have been over without any ‘hurt’ feelings. Right now the two of them should have been making small talk over shopping and falafel, but it was clear that Amunette was spoiling for a fight, and quite possibly had been for quite some time. Odd, considering how Sharay had not detected such animosity earlier.

True to her own nature, Sharay could feel her body tingle, her hands burning as her own chaotic energy flowed throughout her, fully prepared to deal with Amunette. A sudden twinge in her subconscious, this nagging at the back of her brain that forced her to calm, insisted she lower her hands was what kept Sharay from acting. Irritated at such a change of heart, her jaw muscles working and she finally unclenched her teeth as clarity and composure were willed into her being to alleviate the agitation that brewed, though Sharay was not quite sure that was of her own doing.

Sharay had quite honestly expected better from the girl, but had come to realize that though Amunette was the counterpart to Valorius, the two were as different as night and day as the girl boasted none of the attributes Valorius could rightfully claim as a member of a royal house. Silence and a watchful eye on the red head would be her weapon of choice...for now.

Onyx orbs narrowed into mere slits as Sharay watched with morbid fascination while Amunette seemed to be struggling with herself, but was more startling was that the violence she had come to expect had finally shown itself, but it was not directly fueled by the Goddess, not entirely.

The change in eye color was not necessary to discern that before her stood not Amunette, but Ameerah transformed in mind and spirit if not exactly body. Sharay had enough memories of Ameerah from her brief but titillating stay in Valorius’ mental prison to recognize her. She had been far too distracted during her resurrection to take full notice of Ameerah then, but truly it was nothing like seeing the girl in person. Something had triggered what Sharay had assumed was the dormant presence of Ameerah to claw her way to the surface where Amunette had presently been pulling the strings. Whatever it was that opened the cage that contained the beast, and most likely it was Sharay’s presence, it was now Ameerah’s wrath and rage that opposed Sharay as Amunette had checked out either temporary or permanently.

So this was the ‘mongrel’ spoken of so fondly, this crass and petty creature who thought quite pathetically really, that after existing for millennia a few insulting words coupled with what she assumed was a death threat would cause Sharay to cower before her, to tuck her tail between her legs and run as fast as her shapely legs could carry her? Heavens no. And over what, one might ask, or rather whom? Sharay fought the smile that ached to stretch the corners of her mouth. Jealousy, as far as Sharay was concerned, was a wasted emotion, but Ameerah seemed to feed on it which explained the savage, if not pointless, attacks toward the Goddess.

Impressed by her own restraint, but ultimately knowing any reaction was unnecessary, Sharay watched as the girl continued to fight with herself as both presences struggled for dominance in the body. Sharay was a tad disappointed to see that Ameerah had proven stronger for now and remained in control, effectively silencing the far more civilized Amunette. Sharay thought it disgraceful and shook her head some as Ameerah delivered her parting shot before disappearing into the shadows. Exactly how was Ameerah, Amunette or whatever she was calling herself these days capable of remaining as Padishah, as a leader of men and women in Heruin, if she couldn’t control her own instability? Sharay knew first hand that unstable beings, highly volatile ones such as Ameerah/Amunette, tended eventually to destroy themselves or others. Valorius had his work cut out for him concerning his counterpart.

Sharay heard the explosion before she saw it and turned toward the direction of where the house would have been. In the distance, the Goddess could see the flames and the smoke they produced. She sighed once more as the destruction of structure was only the beginning of Ameerah’s revenge. It wasn’t the little pissing contest or the ruination of the house that disturbed Sharay, but the knowledge that Valorius was acutely aware each and every moment that had come to pass and had been the moment Ameerah made her appearance. It was the only reason she had not reacted, the only reason she endured the tirade. The only reason she was allowing Valorius to handle this situation concerning Ameerah in her stead.

Ameerah had falsely assumed and boasted that it was she who should be thanking Valorius for having her life spared. The deranged Padishah couldn’t have been further from the truth.

Gathering herself, Sharay’s hand sliced through the air creating a rift. “So much for southern hospitality,” she murmured, bemused by it all. Not particularly fond of using portals unless they directly led to Chaos, Sharay had finally had enough of this little island paradise and decided to continue with her original plan instead of heeding Ameerah’s ‘warning’. She stepped through the portal and found herself in the heart of the Marrakash Marketplace which was busy as usual with citizens scampering about, shouting out to everyone and anyone the value of their goods they hoped to sell. The heady scents of different foods filled the air, and Goddess found it amusing that the mortals were so busy in their daily activities that not a single one had noticed Sharay appearing out of thin air.

Sharay strolled through the marketplace, her head turning to glance at one item or another, scanning each and every face she came across, but whatever enjoyment she could and should have partook in was lost as her thoughts drifted toward Valorius and the impending confrontation with Ameerah. Sharay however, did not run to him. Did not offer her assistance. If Valorius needed her, he knew where to find her.
