He wasn't sure if his words would have the effect he hoped they would on the shifter, but he felt a bit better just having gotten them out. Now he only hoped that he hadn't angered her enough to kill him in his sleep.

Her time as of late had left her little time to spend with her family. Everything was happening so fast! Antonio had been elected as Grand Duke and she was the new head of the Royal Guard. She had yet to tell Morlis, but he was probably going to be shocked that she had obtained such a position. It suited her well, for the Amazonion Succubus was a warrior at heart. She had hidden it well all these years, but she had seen a need here in Aleris and she thought that maybe she could make a difference.

Never knowing love, gentleness, or what a loving family was for the first thirteen years of her life, and knowing a life of hardship, the child had grown to learn to fight for whatever she wanted. It often got her in trouble and had earned her the nickname of 'Minx'. In her mind, she was as fierce as any tigress. With only animals for friends, and a single elderly Shamaness, she had grown into a literal wild child, untamed; the only one she could care for was the Shamaness, and maybe just one of the other girls, one who wasn't so mean.

It wasn't until she had been found and brought to her brother's home that she truly began to blossom. After a long while, she had learned to be a proper young woman; but she could still be quite the hellcat at times. She was still young, just around twenty or twenty-one now. The last seven or so years have been full of all sorts of excitement for her. She'd been started on her education, taught to use her powers, how to defend herself, and other things a young woman needed to know. She had an intensely strong aversion to males outside of the family, she didn't trust men easily, but the ones in her family were the only ones she trusted.

It was with great surprise that she received the letter from the Royal Messenger just recently. The next morning, she had begun whipping the royal army into shape, taking up her new challenge with great enthusiasm. The men and women showed her they were already well trained, but she wanted them all to be at their own personal best, perhaps even to surpass it. As for herself, she grew too in her own skills, honing her skills with surprising swiftness.

She had once been given a katana along with a matching wakazashi, but it only reminded her of her brief time with the Pack. It had been a gift, well appreciated, but neither blade has tasted blood. She had taken to wielding a battle-axe, a double headed one. The Minx favored using spears and bows, and a magical whip-chain too. She had decided for now that the katana would remain stashed in a void of her choosing, summoned when needed. Instead, a scimitar would hang upon her hip as her secondary weapon. A woman with a battleaxe was a fearsome sight to behold.

Amazons were used to traveling light, never being weighed down by bulky armor such as full plate, or shining suits of armor. The Minx had outfitted herself in

Last, but not least, twin pistols and a rifle had made its way into her arsenal. It was one of the best for its times, and she's had it modified to suit her. The entire army probably had them. She was still learning the ways of the Alerian army, for she had never been in an army before. That's the key thing which separated her from the rest. The Minx couldn't let that secret out, so she had spent -hours- in study. Not in the formation drills and techniques, but in studying all manner of tactics and strategies.

It was a good thing she had the experienced soldiers to depend on for advice, which she asked for in secret. The few whom she had asked were sworn to secrecy. They didn't know she had never been in an army, but a wise commander needed to know all manner of things and to those whom assisted her, she was grateful.

Standing just a few feet before the army, her horse behind her, she was waiting for her orders, like the rest of the men. The arena had become her playground and she had used it well. Before becoming the new head of the Royal Guard, she'd made use of plenty of meadows to hone her skills. And there were now people entering the 'Circle' as she called it. The men had been 'at ease' and she quickly snapped them to attention as none other than Calypso herself arrived.

When the Goddess began speaking, she signaled the men to go back 'at ease' and stood before them. With but a few words, Calypso galvanized the mens spirits, and that brought a brief smile to her own lips. As they cheered, she again began to see into the hearts of these warriors. As they quieted, she was astonished to be approached by the Goddess. The bow of respect meant a great deal to her, for she had come so very far in just a few short years.

Her head bowed as she took the soft hand of the Goddess. Had never in her life served a deity before in worship, and that was something she might never do. However, she had no qualms about being a warrior. She had her orders and later she would mull over them, for now, she had to set out. "I shall do my best, M'lady." That's really all anyone could ask of her, mortal or deity. And that's what she'd do.

When Calypso pulled her hand away, she bowed in return and then faced the men, but she had caught glimpse of Maxim. Hadn't had much to do with him, and perhaps things might stay that way. Who knows. Turning her attention fully to the men, her voice rose for all to hear, yet it swept through the arena to ride on the wind.

"Warriors! Your orders are simple!" she declared to gain their attention. "We give nothing, but take everything! No retreat, no surrender, no prisoner's, no mercy for the demons and all who would be their allies! Those who perish, your souls will go the Goddesses. Do not let these Demons divert you from your sworn duty. They will offer any number of promises, do not fall for their tricks! For those whom have never seen or been in the presence of a Demon, know they are very cunning, and may use any manner of disguise to trick you or win you to their side. Be wary!"

If she had anything more to tell them, she would when she thought of it. They had to wait for the others to move out, and give them some distance before she moved the entire army towards the portal. The army of 700 was small compared to most armies, but she had trained these men rigorously over the last weeks and she had shaped them into quite an impressive fighting force. Hopefully, the Alerians were proud. Perhaps she might even get more warriors eventually.

----------------------------

It came to move out and she took the center position at the head of the army. "Form rank, 5 abreast!" It didn't take but a couple minutes for the men to get in their appointed places and once they were, she raised her free hand into the air and gave the order to her second in command to get the men moving. Every man owned a horse, for the simple fact she wanted to move fast across the lands and the best way to do that was by horseback, or airship. There was probably even aerial warships, but she didn't think any would be needed for this venture.

The thunderous stomp of the marching army soon resounded from the walls of the arena as the massive double oaken doors were opened for them to depart. Her next goal was to get into Oneiro and begin the hunt for these Demons. Let the hunt begin!
