"Nice to see you as well," Reid replied with a smile.
Reid watched as Rahne tried to cover up the mess of drool she had left behind with a few papers that had been scattered across his desk. Rahne attempted to do this secretly, but Reid noticed and made a mental reminder to himself to clean his desk later.
"Yes, still alive with quite a few lives left. Thank you," Reid said his tail swishing with slight approval behind him. This was the longest conversation the two had ever had since Rahne's hiring at The Chronicle. However, the conversation was cut short when Rahne questioned (in stammers) where he had been. "Nowhere of my choosing I can assure you. No need to go into additional details though. The whole fiasco was rather... pointless if you ask me." Reid paused to give a half-hearted shrug of his shoulders. "Anyway, I'm back where I belong, safe and sound, and ready to gossip about whomever catches my eye."
Rahne's pride over his approval to her writing was short lived however. At the mention of her keeping up with toilet cleaning duties, Rahne's prideful smile turned into one of sarcasm. Nevertheless, Reid could not help the laughter the followed in the wake of her latest comment.
"You know, with most people, I'd think that was an empty threat, but with you..." Reid let out a sigh, "I'm fairly certain I need to buy a new toothbrush. Anyway, get some sleep. I'll see you and the rest of the staff tomorrow."
With that, Reid turned leaving Rahne in the office and headed to his room to catch a few winks of sleep that thankfully weren't accompanied by the unsteady rocking of a ship at sea.
