Post subject: Rules for adult related content

Hi everyone,

We're making a minor adjustment to the rules for writing adult related content on our forum. Actually, there really was never any clearly defined rules, so I wanted to establish some guidelines if you are unsure what to do if your post is not for the weak hearted!

In the not so distant past, we used to have a forum called "The East Wing". This forum was hidden to guests and only registered/logged in users could view posts within it. We've gotten rid of this forum and instead adjusted our "Hide" bbcode for your use. (By the way, if you had any posts in "The East Wing" forum, they were moved to "The Inner Circle".)

The code is as follows:

Code:

[hide]Ooooh, naughty text![/hide]

Simply put that around anything you would think needs to be hidden to our guests (basically anything rated on the NC-17 or high R list). If you are unsure, please contact one of our GMs. If you write something we deem should censored to our guests, the GM staff reserves the right to edit your post as we see fit. Please don't be mad at us for it. :)

Guests will be able to see the "Show content" link, but when they click on it, the link would ask them to register/log in to view the content.

You may also use the tag for other stuff like extra large images, however, please refrain from posting anything like... really explicit pictures behind it. lol

Other than that, please feel free to write to your heart's content!

Made me laugh.

But yes, there are a couple of posts that have used the "hide" feature already. If you're interested in how it looks feel free to wander over to viewtopic.php?f=4&t=701&start=20 and check it out.

I'm not entirely sure how I Feel about this honestly. It kinda makes me feel like a child with parental controls. lol But then..I am not around much so I fully expect that my opinion will not carry much weight and I also fully admit that given my RP history adult content kind of goes and in hand with it. :)

It is not so much there to make anyone feel like a child, but to shield unregistered users from seeing adult related content. If they are not registered, we don't know if the guest is 18 years or over, so the guest shouldn't see the content. If they are registered, they should be over 18, but we also know how that goes. ;)

And even if they are over 18 there are some people who can rp just fine with the image of a huge [ Show content ] cock [ Hide content ] in their face while they're reading. I'm not one of those people, I just ask that if you're going to have a man [ Show content ] sliding his penis into a woman's vagina [ Hide content ] that you do it tastefully and not all [ Show content ] "Hank stood poised and ready to enter Melissa's love tunnel with his rocket of sex." [ Hide content ] Ok, I'll admit to having gone overboard with the "Hide" feature. However I like the idea of those who don't wish to read an overtly sex driven story to have warning that it's more mature then other story lines. If anyone else has concerns over whether or not we should do this please add them here. We'll talk more about it and if the general population doesn't want it we can come up with another idea.

I get what you are saying Memoria, fair enough. Though, Al, that was why we had an Adult content forum, if you choose to read a thread in said forum you know to expect adult content.

Interesting feature. Well, in the event I do post something explicit, I'll just let the staff hide it as they see fit. :)

There is another reason for removing the adult content forum... Though I am not quite ready to unveil that upcoming update to Aleris RPG. ;)

Also, use your own judgement too. I'm sure you can tell what should be censored and what shouldn't, and if you're not sure, feel free to ask.

I also wanted to let you guys know, I did notice something about the hide tag. If you use it more than once per post, it doesn't work right. For some reason, it will only open the first censor tag. You can test that out in Algaliarept's post. I guess what I am saying is, avoid the use of more than one hide tag per post if possible until I figure out if it can be fixed. :)

Fixed! I'm pretty happy with myself. I broke this for a little bit today, but it's back up and working better than ever. You can now use more than one censor/hide tag within a post.
