Post subject: The Golden Comb
Whenever I look for good inspiration for fantasy characters, I refer to old folklore. One that caught my attention is the Jamaican mermaid.
The idea is you will only see this mermaid once a year, on a full moon, since that's the only time she comes out. She is usually found bathing and brushing her hair with a golden comb. Legend has it, if you scare the mermaid, she will drop the comb.
The man who obtains the comb is visited by the mermaid and directed through dreams to incredible riches which lie beneath the ocean - so great he will have to inevitably retrieve it.
Seems like a really fun basis for a storyline. The Quest for the Golden Comb!
