Her head rose as the door to her office opened and Hale stepped inside. In his hand he held a folded letter. Things had been hectic around the Chronicle offices while they all worked to get the next issue out on the stands, Hale included, so it was with only fleeting interest that she noticed the letter until he stepped forward and dropped it on her desk.
”This just came for you…some messenger saying it was from some Raven bitch.”
A single brow rose as a half smile creased her lips at his irreverent language. Considering the overly dramatic people that inhabited Aleris the letter could be from anyone. With a sigh she set her copy edits aside and picked up the letter, breaking the seal and unfolding the parchment as Hale came to stand behind her and read over her shoulder. As she read her features twisted into a grimace of revulsion, her lips parting on a snort of disgust. From behind her she heard Hale ask who the Ravenholms and Redmonts were and why they’d felt the need to inform the Chronicle that they were fighting.
Crumbling the letter in her hands into a wadded ball she tossed it into the trash bin next to her desk as she answered Hale’s question.
”The Redmonts and Ravenholms are a couple of families who think they are far more important than they actually are. What they have failed to realize is that no one cares if they kill each other and frankly the majority of us wish they would just get on with it already.
Now, enough about them. We have far more important matters to concern ourselves with.”
