Post subject: Who can bleed a Rainbow...
Morlis was dead. Boohoo. Part of her genuinely wished that she felt something more for her dearly departed Father but the truth of the matter was she couldn’t care less and in fact was a little elated at the demise of the man who really only ever seemed to care about his male children. Unless he was fucking one of the females, of course. She knew he had gone after Salome, probably even Carese, though had been smart enough to avoid his eldest daughter. Perhaps it rankled just a smidge that the act of killing Morlis had been done for Najia’s sake, the reminder of how important the younger woman, or little brat as Sarine preferred to call her, was to Stativare being the true annoyance with the whole situation. She knew Najia was his First though. Knew so long as she kept part of herself from Stativare she would never be his First. And deep down she knew so long as she had Hale a part of her would be held by him. A large part that was growing in size every day.
She held no animosity towards Stativare for taking her; she broke the laws of Hell and had gotten off relatively unscathed all things considered. She was his Caira, his Conduit that fed all the sins and negative emotions she collected to him making him stronger, more powerful, and as his Caira she in turn was more powerful and held more standing in Hell. It was a beneficial arrangement for them both. She was loyal to him, cared for him, and frankly loved fucking him. Hale was special, though, and it was for Hale that an idea began to form.
Morlis’ death had done little to her emotionally but it did put her to thinking about her family, about those within the family who had hurt her and her sisters. Ilario vanished much in the same way Carese had before finding her way to Narion and the de Ingis (and she quietly hoped Ilario would one day find his way to them as well), but Antonio…he just sat back and let it all unfold. He didn’t do a damn thing to stop their father from selling Salome, hadn’t gone after her, hadn’t bothered to appeal to Najia on her behalf and, worst of all, had done nothing when Stativare had come for Sarine. Those were not even the worst of his crimes, in her opinion. He’d bound her, magically, with a mark that was meant to convey his affection for her but rather put magical shackles on her.
She wanted to hurt him…that went without saying, but how to hurt him was another matter. It was Hale, actually, who inspired her. Since the night Stativare had physically overpowered Hale she had thought long and hard on her creation’s vulnerability, how he despised it as he did, and how she had no desire for him to be kept as a mindless automaton as Antonio had kept Rain. Rain..it was all about Rain. She would be the key in this little revenge idea. It wasn’t all about revenge though. That certainly helped but it was also about doing something for Hale, making him stronger. The fact that it would hurt Antonio in the process was a very happy bonus.
Rain was capable of taking care of herself. She was a trained assassin first taught by her creator and then by the Exile family. She was quite skilled. She was also a construct, mindless save for the will of her creator, but luckily for her Antonio was one of the two mages responsible for her creation and she knew she could use that to her advantage. Antonio had been the more powerful sorcerer between the two of them once upon a time, but teachings from their Mother, from Antonio himself, and now from Stativare, put them on a much more level playing field and their magical signature was close enough that the magic that animated Rain could likely be confused and manipulated with a little bit of skill and creativity.
Her plan was simple enough. Find Rain alone, control her, kill her, and steal the magical power used in creating her and funnel it into Hale. Simple, right? In theory yes but there were of course some finer details. She knew Antonio had taken Rain and was living among Cahira’s kumpania but she had no idea how often Rain was alone and she had to be mindful of the fact that her Aunt Cahira was a powerful woman and might sense their approach to the kumpania. Then of course there was always the possibility that her assumptions that her magic signature was close enough to Antonio’s to allow her to control Rain were wrong, a fact they had no way of testing until the time actually came. Though...once upon a time Antonio had told Rain to obey Sarine as if she were Antonio himself. Would he even have thought to rescind his command?
She had a working plan in mind and the more she thought about it the more she wanted to do it. Rain was essentially mindless anyway, the world certainly wouldn’t miss her; Hale would benefit far more from the magic within Rain than the brightly colored animated doll ever would. First things first, though, she had to get Hale on board and it was with that in mind that she entered his quarters without knocking (why would she really?), her voice calling his name before she had even stepped over the threshold.
He appeared in the doorway leading to the small room off of his main bedchamber where he practiced his burgeoning cryomancy abilities. He was shirtless, as he often was unless they were in public, and she took a good long minute to appreciate the sight he presented, a slow smile curving her lips and softening her typically cool, aloof, and indifferent façade. Hale often made her smile and was privy to emotions few others saw from the remarkably composed demoness, something almost unheard of for those of her race.
Closing and locking the door behind her she approached him as he did the same and meeting him half way she drew him down for a lingering kiss. Yes she had business to discuss but with Hale pleasure always came first. When their lips finally parted she guided him to the nearby settee that was placed before the hearth across from his bed. Must keep some distance from the bed or she’d never get her idea out. Sitting next to him she took his hand and met his eyes, curiosity shining blatantly in his own. He knew she was up to something and was waiting patiently for her to reveal it.
“Hale…I have an idea I want your opinion on. It’s an idea that would make you stronger, more powerful, give you extra abilities though honestly I can’t say what those abilities will manifest as. There is a way…but we will have to kill someone to do it. We…I..will have to kill Rain.”
Hale and Rain had been friends when they all lived among the Desiderio Villa, the two constructs finding solace in the other as the only two of their kind around, though how close they had gotten she truly did not know and was aware that Hale may balk at the idea of killing Rain. She wanted this for him though, more than she wanted it for her own vengeful purposes, and should he offer any dissenting opinion she was prepared to do what it took to persuade him to her way of thinking.
