The Desiderio Estate....Aleris...
Her sister Sadia was crazy. No really, she was truly certifiable. If you were to point out to the cait sidhe that she was not exactly one to cast such stones she would have no idea what you were talking about, she never did. In her mind she was as sane and normal as they came. She was wrong, but good luck telling a cat ~or~ a fey that. Combined? Forget about it.
Their relationship did not begin until after both girls were grown, Kisa’s existence kept secret due to the nature of her birth and the circumstances surrounding why she was taken from their mother, Nimue. When finally the two had met it took some time but eventually they became quite close, something Kisa had not had since her paternal grandparents had died, and naturally she began to depend on that closeness. Chaos was a constant in their life, which was not overly unusual among the fey, even the half fey as Sadia was, and considering Sadia was, in Kisa’s estimation, bat shit crazy, she eventually came to the conclusion that she needed some time away from the family.
Kisa couldn’t blame her. The Desiderio family had estates in multiple worlds, cities, countries, realms, dimensions; Morlis made sure the family had a secure estate in every place they visited including a Villa in Italy just outside of Venice, the Eternal Empire, Mystra Amor though no one ever went there any longer, and now Aleris. Mystra Amore was a dead world and when the family decided to congregate within the Villa in Eternelle Lune within the Eternal Empire Sadia had decided it was time to explore the other half of her heritage. Plenty of time had been spent on Avalon with their mother, both girls often becoming bored with the sedate life of the priestesses though Sadia more so, and finally decided to explore Italy, the adopted country of her father, Morlis.
Wishing her well she saw the half fey half succubus off, staying behind with Sadia’s brother, Antonio, but after a time she began to miss her psycho sister, more then she was willing to admit. For days she considered contacting Sadia but did not wish to infringe upon her trip. She needed the time to herself, their lives were hectic ones and the last thing anyone wanted was for Sadia to go off the deep end! So she kept silent knowing Sadia would return home when she was ready.
Until the day she awoke with a sense of foreboding so strong she nearly fled the Villa for Avalon to get their mother, the Lady of the Lake, to do a reading on Sadia’s safety but somehow she knew that it wasn’t Sadia’s safety that was being threatened but something that would affect both of them, all of them. For days she debated whether or not to call Sadia home but the feeling that something huge was about to happen continued to plague her and eventually she came to the conclusion that it was better to contact Sadia now before whatever it was she was feeling manifested and it was too late.
The fastest way to find her would be by faerie messenger so relying on her status as Nimue’s heir on Avalon she summoned a messenger sprite. A pinch of lavender thrown onto the burning coals of her censure and a small summoning spell later a small winged sprite surrounded by a glowing blue nimbus of light appeared. Realizing it was the cait sidhe who had summoned her the usually annoyed sprite quickly pasted on a smile and bowed to the Lady’s heir. Not wishing to waste her time chastising the sprite she quickly began to explain what she needed but not without a narrowing of her faintly glowing green cats eyes, almost like the sprite would provide a nice little treat for the kitten if she pushed it.
”Go quickly and find my sister Sadia. She is traveling somewhere around the Italian countryside but you should be able to trace her energy. Tell her she is needed at home, and be quick about it!”
Shooing at the sprite as though it were a bug it shot from the room and just beyond the windows seemed to blink out of existence. It wouldn’t be the easiest thing in the world to find her sister but the fey left a very distinctive energy trail and any good sprite could track that. Gods knew they found her easily enough!!
Waving her hand to scatter the smoke coiling from her censure her thoughts turned to her sister. Would she be angry for being called home? Hopefully not, but, even if she were he would still be thrilled to see her sister. No matter the circumstances. Fixing her eyes on the smoke she willed it to form, to coalesce into a vision to give her some hint as to what was coming their way but all she saw was a pair of eyes a shade of very familiar green.
”Who are you….?”

Once upon a time…
A man and a woman of different origins, Morlis and Nimue, loved one another dearly. They tried to ignore the differences in their beliefs but over time it became very obvious that the life of an demon incubus male is vastly different then the average man and the fey woman who wished to share him with no one could no longer pretend his heart beat only for her. Well, his heart did, just not his libido. They parted ways but could not deny that they still loved one another and in an act of sheer stubbornness did not make their separation official. They did not get divorced though they let the world at large believe they did. It was easier that way. Though well meaning family members can often be more annoying then strangers and not wishing to explain their actions they kept them secret, the only two in the world who knew they were still bound in matrimony.
This seemed to work well for the star crossed pair, both took other lovers and he eventually in time even took other wives, though the secret remained solely between the two of them and every so often they would come together for a month or two, enjoying the love they shared, and then separating before their differences could push them apart again. It was a good arrangement and worked for them until the day she revealed she was pregnant with his child, again.
This would be the second child they had together, the first having been born without his knowledge after they had separated. She had not known she was pregnant and had no way of contacting him to let him know so it wasn't until after their first daughter, Sadia, was born and three years old that he knew she even existed. Determined not to miss the birth and childhood of his second daughter he insisted she leave the sanctity of her beloved Avalon and settle herself in his Italian Villa for the duration of her pregnancy, exacting a promise that she would remain until the child was at least a year old so he would miss nothing of their infancy.
Leaving his two children from his first wife, Antonio and Madalina, as well as their daughter with their Aunt Cahira, a sister shared by both of them (no they are not related) they settled into the villa for the duration of her pregnancy, telling no one where they were or why they were going there. He wished no interruptions during their time together. He planned to savor every moment with her he had missed the first time and wished none of his other women or their family showing up to spoil their idyllic contentment.
All went as planned for the first 8 months of her pregnancy. They were more content with one another then they ever had been but were wise enough to recognize that it was the impending birth of their child and their isolation from the rest of the world that allowed them to exist so peacefully, two circumstances that they knew would not continue. Things seemed as though they would go without incident until the child was born but unfortunately things do not always go according to plan. A figure from his past was approaching and she had no intentions of leaving the nesting love birds to their happy homemaking.
He had another woman in his past, his first wife, a demon succubus calling herself Desiree he had thought would be the perfect mate considering they were of the same race but things do not always work out as you plan and their marriage failed. He had had the good fortune of being raised with his sister Cahira and her mother, taught how to love and the nature of human sensibilities. She was born and bred in hellfire itself so held none of these emotions. They had two children, Antonio and Madalina, that she ignored for the most part when she was not screaming at them for being in the way and when they were only 3 and 1 she left, abandoning them all.
He wasted no time in divorcing her and never heard from her again, and was glad for it. He had no desire to have any dealings with his demonic ex wife. Unfortunately she had other ideas. It was nearing the end of Nimue's confinement that his ex wife chose to reappear. In her selfish mind Morlis belonged to her and always would no matter how she treated him or what she did she expected he would be there waiting when she returned only that isn't what she found. What she saw upon returning to the villa was Nimue, very very pregnant, in the gardens and Morlis dancing attendance upon her.
Angered to the point of homicide by the sight she departed the villa but was not done with the love birds, not by a long shot. Deciding that simply destroying them was far to good for what she viewed as the ultimate betrayal she set about planning her revenge. Though lacking real discipline she had learned the hellish incantations all demons did and was the one who had passed along her affinity for magic to their son and using that knowledge she devised a plan to exact her revenge.
It took patience on her part, something Desiree was not known for, but her need for revenge was far more pressing and waiting out Nimue's pregnancy she watched the pair from afar until the night Nimue went into labor. So preoccupied with the birth they did not sense another presence near as Desiree watched, perched upon the ledge outside of Nimue's window. The child was born, another daughter, and eventually the happy parents fell into a contented slumber and that was when the demon bitch chose to make her move.
Using the inborn abilities of the succubus/incubus races to slip into their dreams she used an incantation to rework their memories, erasing all knowledge of the last nine months from their minds she took their memories of Nimue's pregnancy, their time together, and even the child's birth. When they awoke they would think she had come to the villa for a visit only. She was very precise, even remembering to remove all traces of the birth as well as healing Nimue so she would never know she had been pregnant or had birthed a child.
Taking up the sleeping girl she bundled her in the velvet soft pale green blanket that Nimue had lovingly embroidered with celtic scrollwork entwined with the Desiderio crest, the name Sabina Desiderio etched elegantly beneath it, and left as boldly as she had come in, their newborn child and their memories of her taken with her...
They awoke the next morning, well rested and with a sense of purpose, she to return to Avalon, he to return to his life. They thought nothing more of her time there then an extended visit and now it was time to go about their age old dance, parting for a time before coming together again.

It was a cool afternoon in Italy; the breeze swept over the ocean and along the docks that Sadia loomed about, coating the woman with the lovely smell of sea air mixed with her own peculiar scent.
Cigarettes and Amor Amor.
However, instead of brooding about the docks, Sadia was lounging in one of the beach chairs near them. Her messenger’s hat was pulled tightly down over her eyes as she lay there, wrapped up in a bright green trench coat that barely revealed the black "skinny" jeans that she had become attached to. Her ankles crossed delicately and, aside from the white blond of her hair and her odd choice in clothing, Sadia seemed almost... normal.
Had it not been for the lit cigarette that was dangling from her lips, passersby would have thought the woman was sleeping. Some even thought she might have just forgotten about her cigarette and went to sleep in spite of it. That was until, of course, they saw a steady stream of smoke leaving her nostrils ever so often. Sadia was fully awake and fully aware of the little annoyance that would be coming to visit her at any moment.
Little bastards, Sadia thought. I hate those little wannabe succubae. At that moment, she heard a sort of whirring sound close to her ear and knew that it was one of the little hell-sends that Kisa liked to pass out. With lightning speed, Sadia sat up and grabbed the little being, pushing the oddly colored hat up and onto her head properly before speaking to it, and ashing her cigarette at the same time. How quaint.
"Ya came fer Kisa, yeh?" Sadia slouched forward, elbows on her knees, faerie in one hand and her quickly burning cigarette in the other. Her eye color shifted from bright green to a more natural looking shade. The sprite wiggled around in Sadia’s hand in vain. The woman’s grip wasn’t overly tight, but it wasn't so loose that the thing could wriggle free.
After a few moments of wicked smiling from Sadia, watching as the faerie struggled, she released it, taking one last draw from her cigarette. "Alright. Give me your message, little one." The faerie huffed at Sadia and contemplated giving the message at all, then decided it would be better if she just... went ahead with it. Sadia listened intently to Kisa's message and nodded when it was appropriate to do so, thinking to herself that it was all more trouble than anything else. After the faerie finished, Sadia smiled warmly to the little being and reached out to pat it on the head. Softly, of course.
"You're a good sport." The faerie almost recoiled, then welcomed the soft pats... more out of fear than anything else, one would imagine. But, the faerie didn't seem frightened at all. Taking a moment to reach into the breast pocket of her coat to pull out her pack of cigarettes, Sadia thought of what the best route would be. Straight through the city would be the shortest way, but she would have to go by foot. At this though, the woman grimaced. But her other option was an hour long bus ride to the Villa, and she wasn't up for that either.
With a sigh, Sadia stood, lighting her cigarette as she went. "Walking it is. Thanks, little tyke." With a mock salute, Sadia left the faerie buzzing there awkwardly before the little thing flew away obviously confused.
Stuffing her slender hands into her pockets, Sadia walked onward toward the Villa. It wasn't anywhere near sundown, but the woman imagined that she would be there sometime before the shadows filled everything. All of her things back at her friend's place were expendable if Joseph decided to get rid of them. She imagined he wouldn't. If nothing else, Sadia was a good lay and such was her payment to Joseph for letting her shack up with him for a while. She would have gone back and gotten all of her belongings if she didn't have the feeling that what Kisa called her for was urgent.
And the fact that Joseph would hold her up, wanting her to fill one last bill.
With a small shake of her head and a laugh, Sadia took a draw from her cigarette, blowing the smoke from her mouth soon after. Joseph was also a good sport, only not as good as the faerie. In her few weeks of staying at his home, he had grown frightfully attached. Not that she could blame him at all. I'm a sexy bitch, Sadia said to herself. And she believed that.
All of her thoughts had nearly blocked out all of the sounds around her, except for one. She couldn't figure out exactly what it was at first, but it seemed important. Throwing her cigarette to the ground she looked around for where the sound was coming from.
Sobbing? But it sounded so... tired. Sadia looked around and spotted the sobbing being. It was a chick. Somewhere around her own age, Sadia mused. Taking a few steps forward, she noticed a sort of familiarity in the girl that made her a little uneasy. Sadia wasn't one to forget people, and she definitely didn't forget faces. Perhaps she just looked like someone she knew.
The woman that Sadia was looking at was, unbeknownst to Sadia, was Sabina. Taking another long look at the girl, she stepped closer and tapped the weeping Sabina on the shoulder. "'Ey. Why’re you cryin'?"

The dreams had plagued her since her resurrection into her current incarnation, memories and thoughts eternally shrouded in the mists, lost in the recesses of a mind fractured upon death and pieced back together upon rebirth into another woman’s body. It was a long story and one that very few people actually knew, but it was the reality of the sidhe that ruled Avalon and one of the reasons she was unsuited to life outside of the Sacred Isle. The dreams themselves, what some would call nightmares, were more often then not a hodgepodge of realities from her former life, her death, and her life now. It didn’t help that the Lady of Avalon was a Seer and the visions would often come to her in her dreams, a trait she suspected she had passed down to her heir, Kisa.
This night was different somehow, more confusing then usual and ultimately more disturbing. She heard Kisa calling for her sister through the mists that shrouded her dreams in a heavy fog, the sense of foreboding emanating from her feline daughter alerting her maternal instincts and causing her to reach out to her children within the dreamscape, unknowingly traveling to their side. Through the perpetual mist she saw Kisa send the sprite for Sadia, the look of worry on her face clear to the sidhe whose astral presence stood no more then a foot away. If Kisa saw her it would be little more then a misty outline of her mother’s figure before fading away in search of her other offspring.
Honing in on the bond she shares with all her children she felt her astral spirit shift through the mists until she saw her eldest, and most unruly, daughter through the thick fog. The unease that had settled around Sadia was evident to the concerned sidhe and eager to determine the cause she turned her attention to the girl Sadia was speaking too….and she froze.
Cold horror gripped her heart in a vice and began to spread throughout the sidhe’s body, her right hand pressing to her chest as though she feared her heart might actually stop any moment. The girl’s face was unknown to her yet…she knew it, deep down her heart knew her but it wasn’t until she lifted her head, thus bringing her tear filled eyes into view, that she knew without a doubt that this girl was linked to her somehow. From her face gazed luminescent green eyes that nearly mirrored her own, Kisa’s, and Sadia’s when she wasn’t glamouring them a different shade.
Just as with Kisa she might have been visible to the two girls should either of them be sensitive to astral presences, but she would have appeared as little more then a shadow, a shade, a faint misty outline of the woman who unknowingly birthed them both. Her image would not last long, however. Once Sabina’s eyes came into view the shock of it was enough to pull Nimue from her restless sleep and as her image faded she would awake with a strangled gasp within her chambers on Avalon.
Frantically she fought her way free of the sheets that had tangled about her in her distress, heedless of the chilled stone against her feet as she darted across her chambers she retrieved her silver scrying bowl and setting it upon the herb strewn table in the center of her chambers she filled it with water from a nearby pitcher. Green eyes closed, several deep breaths were taken as she tried to calm herself enough to focus on what she was about to do. There was only one person who might be able to help her, who might have the answers to the many questions now burning in her heart, who might know who the girl was. Morlis.
Parting her eyes she bent over the silver bowl and with a wave of her right hand over its surface it clouded over, the mists billowing across the surface of the water as she willed Morlis to come into view. When the mists cleared she could see him clearly in his sitting room, his usual glass of cognac in his hand. Reaching out to him she knew the moment he was aware of her “presence”, his eyes widening as he gazed down into his glass.
“Morlis! What is going on…who is the girl?!”
And in moments she flooded his mind with the images she had retrieved from her astral walk earlier in the evening, their bond allowing her this convenience though it wasn’t something they relied upon often given their circumstances.
“Who is she Morlis? Why does my heart ache for her?”
Her questions were fired in rapid succession, barely giving the man a chance to respond, her voice breaking with the final words that fell from her lips. He had to know what was going on. She wasn’t hallucinating this time, she had seen her with Sadia, someone had to know what was going on!

There he was. Relaxing in his sitting room in the newly finished Villa in Aleris he was enjoying a snifter of cognac when he felt Her presence moments before her voice ricocheted through the room. Panic filled her thoughts as she reached out to him, so much so that his eyes closed against the onslaught of her mental voice. Bracing himself for whatever had upset the not always stable sidhe he parted his gaze and just happened to glance down at his snifter only to see her face floating within the amber liquid. She must be scrying.
Sighing gently he smiled. How many men were able to hold a conversation with their cognac? ”What is it, Nim?” She was easily riled, flighty, as much of the fey were, but he also knew her mind harbored nightmares that many would never have to face so he never discounted her worry until he had heard exactly what it was. Before the words had died on his lips she was demanding to know who the “girl” was.
”What girl, Nim?” Ask a stupid question….
You get your mind flooded with images not your own. Once again his eyes fell closed as he tried to sort through the myriad images she was projecting, the mind of a fey was always somewhat chaotic but now it was pure chaos. Finally he was able to sift through the panic she felt and the fog that usually accompanied her thoughts to find the images that had disturbed her so.
And his heart stopped…..
….Arrested by the image of the girl who possessed his beloved’s eyes, eyes that he saw every day in his own daughter Sadia, when she wished it, and her sister Kisa. Kisa was not his daughter but she was Nimue’s and thus he cared for her as his own, his step daughter though none but Nimue knew this fact, and now Antonio’s mate. Sadia was with her, if the images received from Nimue were to be trusted. Who was she? How had Sadia known where to find her? Is this why Kisa had summoned her sister? Unfortunately he had more questions then answers.
”Come here Nimue. Tonight. Do not stop to speak to the Elders. Do not stop to instruct your Priestesses. Part the mists and come to Aleris tonight. We will find out who she is together.”
Usually she would not heed such a call, insisting she must see to her duties as the Lady of the Lake first, but tonight…tonight she gave no argument and after agreeing to appear at the Villa in Aleris within the hour he felt her presence recede and in her absence he downed the remaining cognac in his snifter. Such was not meant to be chugged but tonight he would make an exception.
Rising from his chair he left the relative tranquility of the sitting room and ascended the stairs to the second level of the villa. It was quiet tonight, most of the family either sleeping or out for the evening from what he could tell. If the gnawing unease that plagued him was to be trusted though, the family would need to be gathered soon. At least, those directly connected. His children, step children, and wives. The rest…Autumn, Xantara, Willow…this did not concern them.
There was one he knew was at the villa, his son Antonio and his woman, Kisa. Nearing their suite of rooms he went straight to the door that he knew led to Antonio’s private chambers, the one where he stored his arcane supplies and worked on his magic and where he spent his time meditating. A sharp rap upon the door was given and a few moments later his shirtless son was answering the door.
”I’m sorry to interrupt your meditation, Nio, but something has come up.”
Antonio stepped back without hesitation and he moved into the room, the door closing softly behind him. He had been hoping to speak to Antonio alone before approaching Kisa, knowing how temperamental she could be. Just like her mother sometimes, that one. Quickly, without embellishment, he explained what Nimue had shown him, that Sadia was with this girl near the Villa in Italy right this moment, and that Kisa had sent for her so knew something was happening.
”I do not know who she is but..I feel as though I should.” A frown marred his forehead as he tried to recall what was just out of his reach, a memory clinging to the edges of his consciousness but incapable of being brought forward.”We need Sadia to bring this girl here. Kisa has already sent for her but you know your sister, she is not always…clear headed.” It was the most delicate way a father could state that his daughter was not always…sane.”You know my gifts are not in telepathy. Can Kisa contact her as Nimue would? Nimue will be here shortly but we must contact Sadia quickly. Will you ask her?”
Kisa was often very reserved around him, knowing of his past with her mother, and he did not wish to impose upon the young cait sidhe without his son there. She belonged to him. It was only appropriate.
Fixing his dark gaze on his son’s face he would let the worry and heartache he felt fill his gaze for a split second. He did not know who the girl was, his memories blank when he tried to recall why her face was so familiar, but just as Nimue had felt it, he too felt in his heart that she belonged to him, to them.
”I need to see her Nio…I think she belongs with us.”

Have you ever tried to clear your mind of all conscious thought? Tried to tap into the cosmic streams of inter-dimensional energy that formed all reality? It's a task and a half. To be honest he'd tried to achieve it for years and hadn't had much success. The instructors said that if you actually attempted to find the ethereal threads, you'd never see them. They said it just had to come to you, could take months or maybe even years, it may not happen at all, but it was one of the highest if not thee highest skill of a battle mage. They said that once you tapped into it, everything about the world would fall into perspective. He'd just started to 'drift off' into that empty plain of thought; which really wasn't all that difficult considering how many times he'd got to 'that' level, but it looked as though he'd have to rely on nicotine for his superior-cosmic-oneness at least one more day on account of the knock at the door.
"I got it Kitten."
Stepping out of the focus room, he snatched an open pack of smokes from the small table that sat just outside the door. His father would hear a few bumps and muttered curses before the door finally opened up. Having been lighting his cig as the door opened Morlis had the chance to speak first before he could even offer a hello. A cloud of smoke was blown into the air as he listened, ~something has come up~. We've won the lottery, we're going on a vacation, I've run out of lube--can I borrow some of yours? These were all possible things that could've been said that he was ready for..but somehow, news was never that pleasant when it came after ~something has come up~.
"No problem dad, come on in and have a seat."
He moved back and Morlis came in. Since he was never the type to want to delay anything longer than it had to be, he just walked to the foot of the bed and sat down, waiting for his father to do the same in the chair that sat across from him. With 1 hand resting on his knee and the other bringing the cigarette up to his lips, he just kept quiet. Talking on his part would just make things take longer, so for the moment he kept quiet, waiting to hear what was going on.
Somehow he felt he should've expected what he heard. Someone was out there who seemed to have some connection to the family, but no one knew specifically what that connection was. The words already went through his mind -it's another kid-. Morlis kept talking, but all he heard in his mind was -it's another kid, it's another kid, come on you KNOW it's another kid.-. It's that reason that the first thing that came out of him in response was a laugh, along with a puff of smoke followed by a light cough. With the timing though, no doubt it'd be thought that he was laughing at his father calling his sister a lunatic.
After getting it out of his system he thought for a second, taking another drag and flicking the ashes into the tray he'd set beside him. Kisa was his woman, but she wasn't his possession. At least not in the way Rain was, so rather than just answer for her, he looked over his shoulder and spoke.
"Kisa! Can you come in here for a secon..oh. There you are."
The girl was a cat, of course she was standing near the doorway, half a head poking out from the side of the archway as she watched on, quietly from the back. No doubt she heard what Morlis asked, so rather than ask the question a second time, he just waited until she walked into the room and moved to stand next to him. With his free hand he curled his arm around the back of her thighs, and looked up to her.
"So what's the verdict, Kitten? Think you can send another message out?"
His head turned just in time to catch that almost vulnerable look on his father's face. In response to it, his own expression became a lot less jovial. It was as if something had momentarily struck him focused, and seriously driven. The cigarette was snuffed out in the tray and he leaned forward enough to grab Morlis' shoulder.
"It's alright old man, everything's going to be ok. Come on now, things haven't been going this well just to end up turning to shit. We'll do whatever we have to do to see things clearly. If anything, I hope whoever -she- is knows just what she's going to be walking in on. The normality of the world ends as soon as you step through the gates outside. If she's as fucked up as the rest of us, than this is the best thing for her. If not--I give her a week before she's licking the walls, talking about Snozzberries."
Even though he smiled, it showed that he was sure that everything would work out fine. How could he be so sure? Because if he wasn't willing to let things go south at the University, he would make double sure that everything was kept positive at home. He hadn't returned just to have things fuck up now.

No sooner had the messenger sprite flit from the room then the feline turned to see the gossamer image of her mother watching from across the room. A soft gasp whispered past her lips as she realize her mother had "traveled" in the dreamscape to check on her. Before she could explain or even warn her mother the already fuzzy image faded and she knew, instinctively, that she would travel to look in on Sadia next.
She might have been mildly concerned before but now full blown alarm filled her. Her mother was not always the most stable person, an ongoing trend in their family, and she knew without having to be told that Nimue would flip when she saw the images that had been plaguing Kisa's dreams over the last week. Her mother wasn't just unstable she was....fragile. Not that she felt her mother was weak, not by any means, as the Lady of the Isle she had protected and ruled them in spite of the opposition outside of the mists that threatened them daily, and what she had endured was not for the faint of heart. Still, her heart was easily wounded at times. If this was what she suspected, this could break it permanently.
Perhaps she underestimated her mother but the concern was still there. Torn on what action she should take next, if any, her brooding thoughts were interrupted by a knock upon the door followed quickly by Antonio's voice calling out to reassure her that he would answer the summons. The knock was dismissed, the assumption that it was a servant or some such causing the fickle felines interest to return to her own matters. Until she heard Morlis' voice.
Then, of course, her natural curiosity got the better of her and on silent feet she eased towards the door that would lead from her sitting/changing room into the large master bedroom of their suite of rooms. Easing the door open she let only a portion of her face show as she listened in on the conversation. Her mother had contacted Morlis as well. Curiouser and Curiouser. She had often wondered at the connection still held between them and this only confirmed her suspicion that there was something still there. Morlis was obviously distraught though. This was becoming very serious very quickly.
Her attention perked when she heard her name and as the two men spoke she was already contemplating his request. Could she do what he wished? It was a skill mastered by her mother but one she had always been unable to really get a solid grip on. Her focus was shit, she knew it, her mother knew it, but now was not the time to waffle. It was time to step up or step aside.
Antonio called for her and she offered a sheepish smile when he saw that she was already there and had been watching for some time. She had in fact heard what Morlis wished of her so without playing coy or pretending she hadn't been eavesdropping she moved into the room, pausing only when she stood next to Antonio, his arm looped around her thighs to draw her close.
Turning her faintly glowing green cats eyes upon Morlis she inclined her head respectfully to the man she did not realize was her step father. She was always a bit more reserved around him though she couldn't quite fathom why. Perhaps his marriage to her mother shadowed her view of him, knowing how easily he could have been her father instead of the Pendragon monster that actually sired her. As appealing as the idea might be, she was in fact deeply relieved that Morlis was not her father. Life without Antonio was not something she was willing to face.
Lowering her gaze to meet Antonio's she nodded gently, a wisp of pale golden hair falling against her cheek with the motion. She would do anything he asked really, though she doubted anyone but she was aware of her level of devotion and for now the cait sidhe preferred to keep it that way.
”I'll try Nio, but I'm not as good as mother is at it."
Something had to be done though. If Nimue was coming here it was in everyone's best interest that Sadia return, with the girl in tow, and this little mystery get resolved as soon as possible. Turning back towards her sitting/changing room she unknowingly mimicked her mothers actions of earlier that evening and retrieved the silver scrying bowl her mother had gifted her with when she chose to depart Avalon as her permanent residence and reside with Antonio, only returning to Avalon as needed.
Placing the scrying bowl on the same table she had used to summon the messenger sprite she retrieved a pitcher of water and filled the shallow bowl before easing onto the cushioned stool that sat before it. Gazing at the water she took a deep breath, requiring a bit more preparation then her mother did. This wasn't practice anymore, this was the real deal and the family was depending on her. No pressure though.
Closing her eyes tightly she brought Sadia's image into her mind's eye in as much detail as she could muster. Once solidified she parted her gaze slowly in an attempt to keep the image firmly in her mind and just as her mother had done her right hand passed over the surface of the bowl, calling through the dimensions to her older sister.
For a long moment nothing happened, the surface of the water remained just that, a still pool of clear fluid and she began to despair that she had failed when finally the mist appeared. Slowly at first it gained speed as it crawled across the surface of the scrying bowl. Bolstered by this small success he firmed her image of Sadia in her mind, subconsciously bending over the bowl as though that would urge the mists to part to reveal her sister more quickly.
Eventually the mists parted and Sadia's face came into view. Whether or not her sister could see her she did not know but she would make sure she heard her! Sight of the strange girl standing near her caused her to pause, caught by the image of the eyes that had been haunting her for days. Leave it to Sadia to stumble across her.
”Sadia! Bring the girl to the villa in Italy and use the portal to come to the villa in Aleris. Mother is already on her way and you know what that means! She and your father both know about the girl. Hurry Dia."
Buoyant over her success she was still cautious, keeping the message short and to the point lest she lose her focus and her connection with Sadia. Still unsure if Sadia heard her the mists clouded over, the connection lost, and she sighed, slumping slightly in the stool with disappointment before straightening her back and turning her cats eyes upon the two men who watched her so intently.
”I lost her before she could reply. I'm sorry. If she heard me she'll come. She was on her way anyway. Now she'll know to bring our mystery girl with her."
Her soft brogue thickened with her disappointment. Still, she had managed to get it to work, for once, when she really needed it too. Hopefully it worked the way it was supposed to and Sadia had heard her message. Her gaze rose and with Antonio's, knowing his skill with magic she felt somewhat self conscious performing the few tricks she had mastered in front of him. Her teaching had started late in life, only a year or two having passed since her heritage had been unlocked and her training begun. Her confidence was rarely in doubt, her feline sensibilities refusing to acknowledge she wasn't all that was fabulous, the feline had only recently been unlocked as well and her old insecurities often came rushing back to the forefront.
Below them a door slammed, a familiar voice began calling out names, Morlis, Kisa, Sadia, the tumultuous voice demanding to be answered.
Nimue had arrived.

With a cool wave of her hand, Sadia studied the girl before her with a keen, yet slightly nostalgic, interest. Hm. She looks like us alright.
Sadia never meant to be intimidating, (or did she?) but sometimes it just seemed she was. Naturally. Cocking her head to the side, flicking the filter of her cigarette, and shifting her weight over to her left side, she grinned. A cheshire grin that could easily be trusted; and easily taken for false friendliness. "Well, I'm Sadia Desiderio. Looks like you might be lookin' for a bit of my family, yeh? You're a weird one." Taking a step closer, the crazy half fey took a draw from her cigarette, blowing it -- perhaps by accident -- into the green eyes of this new girl, and leaned down so that she was nearly nose to nose with her.
The green blanket that was offered up for Sadia's viewing had reminded her a bit of her childhood; though Sadia rarely ever lived with the past. Even before Kisa would send out her faux telepathy, Sadia already had part of it figured out. This girl was related, she just didn't know how. "It'd probably be a good idea fer you to-- AUUGHH!!" Suddenly, Sadia stood up flailing her arms in front of her face and, in the process of doing so, throwing her cigarette down onto the ground. After this brief tantrum, Sadia focused her eyes on... well... nothing, and started talking to it. Little did she know that Kisa could no longer hear her.
"KISA! What do ya think yer doin'! Scaring me like that! Why I ought to wring your little neck, you pussy! I know what I'm doin'! You didn't hafta come bargin' into my brains to tell be to bring the girl with me, I KNEW already! How would you like to see my face suddenly floating in front of your eyes, talking nonsense to you! Bet you wouldn't like it one single bit, would you?!" Taking a moment to gather herself after giving that bit of empty air a few sulking glances and, not to mention, a stern talking to, she looked back up at Sabina and scoffed. "People thinkin' I don't know what's going on. Like I can't think for m'self!"
If Sadia had been a different person, she may have realized that the show that she just put on for Sabina probably made her look a bit insane. But, Sadia was still Sadia, and Sadia didn't give a rat's ass, and even if she could, she wouldn't. Looking around for a moment, she placed her hands on her hips and squinted her eyes. She was looking for something... but what? "Well, you're not lost anymore, sugarbutt. Looks like you're comin' with me. Even if I have to go caveman on your ass and whop you over the head and drag you behind me by your hair." Sadia would, of course, do this if need be. "I think you're a good sport, though. Come on. Gather what you've got and let's--" Sadia gasped before she could finish and jumped up into the air, fists flailing. "EUREKA! I FOUND IT!" Her gods be damned cigarette. Leaping over a banister, Sadia slid down a bit of railing and jumped to the ground to pick up her still lightly burning cancer stick.
Most would have probably been surprised if Sabina hadn't had a heart attack or fainted by then. Shaking her head, Sadia bounded back up the steps she skipped over, jumped back over the banister, and stood in front of Sabina with her cigarette barely clinging to her lips. "I'm a very serious smoker, you see. Waste not, want not, and all that bullshit." Sadia then stuffed her hands in her pockets and looked the girl over once more. "Oh, yeah. You're a fine one to be askin' what I'm doing out here by myself. You're a bit more vulnerable than I, so I say. While you were cryin' and carryin' on, I could've knifed you and took your..." What was there to take..? Oh! "Your blanket!"
Sadia was never really one to give a person time to reply to anything. Hyperactive with a slight case of ADD. Which would, in all rights, make it ADHD, if you want to get technical. In any case, smoke floated lazily from the tip of her cigarette as Sadia spoke: "So, you comin' or what?" Or Sadia would force her to come with her, and so on and so forth. The woman... was insane on all accounts, and one could not blame Sabina for high-tailing it back to where she came from.
Sadia was just the beginning, though. Sabina would be quite... thrilled... to see the rest of her family.

For once she heeded his request without question or argument. The moment his image faded from the still waters that filled the silver scrying bowl she was on her feet and preparing for a journey. He was right. She would need to avoid the Elders and her Priestesses lest they impede her process. They could not stop her. She ruled Avalon though the Elders fancied that they ruled her and she did not have the patience right now to remind them that they were her advisors and nothing more. She summoned only one Priestess to her side, the girl who was the highest ranked among the other priestesses except for Kisa and who would see to the running of things while she was gone.
It did not take Cerri long to heed her summons though the young woman still held the haze of sleep in her eyes when she appeared in the Lady's chambers clad only in her sleeping gown and robe. What she found was more then enough to clear the final vestiges of sleep from her mind as she watched Nimue tear through her chambers, throwing articles of clothing and other necessary items into a single traveling case as she rattled off instructions regarding the training of the Priestesses and the care of the Isle in her absence.
"I do not know how long I shall be gone. The Elders will no doubt be angered that I did not speak to them first. Do not let them intimidate you. You serve me, not them. Tell them I will deal with them upon my return."
The final item was thrown into the traveling case and the lid lowered and buckled securely. Continue to issue a string of instructions she had moved on to just how she could be contacted should an emergency arise when she disappeared behind a privacy screen to dress. Her instructions were tempered with the warning that it had better be a genuine emergency before a summons was issued for her return. Appearing from behind the screen she had transformed herself from the harried woman to the more dignified Lady the priestesses of Avalon had grown to care for and Respect. Chestnut hair streaked with gold and red had been pulled back into a golden net fastened to her locks with delicate silver pins. Dark green velvet formed a fitting bodice before falling to the floor at her feet, the golden torque and headband denoting her status on Avalon her only adornment.
Her attire was completed when a dark cloak was draped about her shoulders, her right hand gripping the traveling case as she finished her instructions and sent Cerri back to her bed. She wanted no witnesses to her departure as she would not be taking the barge through the mists. On the contrary she would be retreating further into faerie where the mists and the magical beings residing within it were ancient, and would part them directly into the land of Aleris, using her bond with her daughter and her secret husband to guide her.
It took a bit longer but it would cover her tracks should any be watching. This was a private matter and she was through allowing the Elders to interfere in her private matters. Though the mists seemed nearly impenetrable, eventually they began to thin, parting before her to admit her into the realm of Aleris, the villa of her husband and family directly in front of her.
Had Sadia and this mysterious girl already arrived? The memories of the fey may seem flighty but are not so easily manipulated. The magic used would have to be strong indeed but over time...over time it wouldn't hold it. Not when confronted with the very object of the spell. These random thoughts floated through Nimue's mind as she began to move towards the villa, each step gaining speed the closer she got until she was rushing towards the grand estate.
Reaching the door she did not bother with pleasantries such as knocking, heedless of who might be in residence, she threw open the front door and nearly burst into the foyer, her presence filling the room with a crackling energy.
"Morlis! Kisa! Sadia, Antonio!"
Her voice rose, the volume such that any on the second floor would hear her calls. She did not stop to consider who might be in residence and had never before confronted one of Morlis' wives, quite deliberately, but tonight none of that mattered and her voice rang out again. She would rouse the entire house if she had to too get answers.
The Lady had arrived and she would not be swayed.

He knew he had been right to seek out his son first. Antonio had always been his rock, his main support, and the one who would rule the family should the universe finally manage to see to Morlis’ demise. Antonio’s usual unflappable demeanor went a long way towards calming the agitated man. His son’s comforting hand on his shoulder eased him and he was forced to crack a smile at Antonio’s comments.
“Snozzberries?”
Just then Antonio called Kisa forward, the girl having been listening in for the majority of the conversation. As usual he was struck by Kisa’s similarities to Nimue while at the same time being very aware of that which made Kisa unique and different. He had not been surprised in the slightest when Antonio had announced his involvement with the sidhe. He should have anticipated it actually. If Kisa was half as bewitching as her mother his poor son hadn’t stood a chance.
Not for the first time he noticed Kisa’s reserve around him and wondered about it. She had always been somewhat aloof when in his presence, as though afraid to draw attention to herself where he was concerned and it honestly baffled him. He could only assume it had to do with her knowledge of his past with her mother. If he had known she had worried she would discover she was his daughter he would have been quick to reassure her that while he would have been proud to call her daughter, she simply was not his.
“Thank you Kisa. Your help is greatly appreciated.”
The sister of his daughter Sadia and lover of his son Antonio returned to her own room to set about seeing to the task she had been asked to perform. She was nervous; he could sense it rolling off of her waves. She doubted herself but it was more then that. She was nervous about performing in front of Antonio. Realizing that his attention shifted to his son, studying his face as he watched the cait sidhe set about using the scrying bowl that was identical to the one he had seen in Nimue’s chambers.
Through it all he could not stop wondering who this girl was. He had come to the same assumption Antonio had, another daughter, but how was this possible? Long ago he had, when Sadia had been born without his knowledge, he had requested that his sister place a curse, or a charm, however you viewed it, upon him. None of the women in his life could become pregnant without him willing her too. How had this child come to be? Why was she wandering alone? How had she found them?
His many questions would not be answered until the girl was there and he would be able to question her himself. Kisa’s voice drew his attention and gazing at the water he could barely make out the images of Sadia and this strange girl on the surface before fading away.
Kisa was then turning to them, announcing she had spoken to Sadia but had lost her before she could reply. Smiling at her he shook his head at her apology.
“No need to apologize, Kisa. You did very well. Thank you for your help.”
No sooner had his words ended then another voice came ringing through the Villa. Nimue had arrived and the virago was now screaming her head off, no doubt awakening anyone who was sleeping and drawing the attention of anyone who was not.
With a sigh he glanced to his son and step daughter then turned and departed the room, Kisa and Antonio quick on his heels, each step gaining speed as he rushed to the stairs and down into the foyer where Nimue awaited him. His heart constricted at the first sight of her, she would always be the love of his life regardless of their circumstances.
“Nimue please, calm yourself. Kisa has just summoned Sadia and told her to bring this girl with her. We will have answers very soon my love, I promise.”
Reaching her side he drew her into his arms without another word, holding her petite frame lovingly to his own, as though shielding her from the heartache that he just knew was about to come their way.
