Sahmain was important to Jezika, even before her being made Priestess. She loved being able to celebrate, and she always had since she grew up with the gypsies. So when she was put in this position, she wanted to make sure that the celebration was a large and successful event. It also held more than one reason for its importance. Her dear Bela had just passed, she would be able to show her proper tribute, and with Larisa's help, she knew that her sister was in a much better place and not truly even gone.
The thought made Jezika smile as she went about her duties. She had a wonderful turnout, thanks to Chrysalis for volunteers. The festivle was still days away, but Jezika knew she could get some stuff done in the mean time. She had local farmers bringing in goods, from fruits to hogs for the feast. The King had allowed her to use the great hall in the palace for the event. She was greatful because then she knew that she would have more than enough room to house everything.
A light tap on her shoulder caused her to turn. Jezika smiled at the older woman that bowed her head to the Priestess. "I bring you the finest Mead I could find, Priestess. I hope this is what you wished." Jezika beamed a smile and nodded her head.
"Thank you Gertrude. It is lovely, and I can only imagine how sweet it is. You and your family make it, yes?"
"Indeed." She swelled with pride. "We're teaching the grandchildren the art."
"Good! Very good. It's always good to teach the young ones a craft that can get them far."
The lady bowed again when Jezika stopped her. "I thank you for helping me out, Gertrude. For that I wish for you and your family to be our honored guests." Jezika knew that the lady had lost both her husband and one of her sons recently in an accident. The fact that Gertrude and her family were still going out of their way to help caused Jezika to have a sense of pride in her work. The look that crossed the woman's face was indescribable.
"We would be honored, Lady Priestess. And thank you.. Thank you so much!" In a spur of the moment act, Gertrude reached out and hugged Jezika tightly and Jezika smiled and returned the embrace in turm.
"You do not need to thank me. You honor me by your devotion. I know that Larisa smiles upon you and your family for the work you do for your Goddesses." She knew that the woman was a devout follower of the Lady of Light, Larisa.
Smiling, Gertrude nodded and bowed again before hobbling away with the help of her cane. Jezika had never felt this good about herself -- ever. She was turning over a new leaf and in turn making her life full of positive experiences. She never thought that she would have a normal -- a happy life, but she did. Now only if she had a date to her own Masquerade, that would be the icing on the cake.
