Over the past month or so in Aleris, there have been plenty of newsworthy events to report about, however given the recent catastrophe throughout the realm, there has been no right time to spread such news or to have it published and distributed across Aleris' towns and continents. That being said, The Chronicle's Editor in Chief is back in the saddle again now that there is a time and place to report about everything that has happened as of late. I write to you from the remains of The Chronicle's offices and much like the rest of the city, majority of this building was destroyed in the wake of what was likely the greatest tragedy to have ever plagued the realm of Aleris. If you're among the survivors, I'm sure that despite the lack of news from Aleris' paper, that you're aware of what has happened, but I will do my best to recap anyway.
Our last breaking news reported that Shimmer and Garis Town were both run down to the ground and destroyed. No survivors were left from an army at the time that was unknown. Not much later, that army travelled through the lands of Elved and despite Bariston's preparations, the city of Bariston was also taken with barely any survivors left to be had. It was then that we received news that this army was being led by a woman named Deanna DiCorvino and in her ranks were a great number of therianthropes and a race of cannibalistic mages called the Aliscowri. By her side was a makeshift general named Elijah Bluefield and a demon whose name is unknown at this time.
After conquering Bariston, the army boarded one of the cities only remaining airships and headed across the sea to its next target, Grand City, the capital of Eiler. Thankfully, the Protector Regent at the time, Verial Akilara, was already in the process of strengthening the city's little defenses with the aid of Eiler's Lord Commander, Madrin Kir. Without these preparations, there would be nothing left of Grand City. During this, Verial Akilara also appointed two new ruling figures to the continent of Heruin - Padishah Ameerah Sultan and Bel Telal Valorius Malku. It was said that the two returned to Heruin for a short period to make sure the sandy continent was safe and then returned to aid in the upcoming war.
The army did march into Grand City and the city was leveled in the same fashion as Bariston. Many were killed and my condolences go out to those who lost family and loved ones in the war. In what would be the climax of this event, the self-proclaimed goddess leading the army, a woman named Sharay in the body of Deanna DiCorvino was detained by a number of people, the Padishah and Bel Telal of Heruin as well as Tempesturo's Champion until Elysia arrived on the scene with a young blonde haired boy to put a stop to what would have been Grand City's definite fall.
It was said that after Elysia trapped the goddess Sharay's soul, thereby releasing Deanna DiCorvino's body, she requested aid of Tempesturo's Champion Jelaephon Delai (also known as Blend) who took the soul snare Sharay was trapped inside and disappeared. His current whereabouts are unknown, but Elysia has publicly stated that Saharay's powers have since been sealed away and no further threats from the invasive goddess will be had on Aleris.
The Protector Regent was not available for questioning after the war. It was reported that some saw him aid in saving Sharay during the war and that because of this, one of Grand City's soldiers was killed in the process. However, because of his efforts to save the city before and even during the war, Verial Akilara was relieved of any crimes against him. Decision from the new ruling body in Eiler was that Verial Akilara is to head to Arthuran immediately to become the continent's Lord.
Speaking of ruling bodies in Eiler, the mysterious blond haired boy that was with Elysia was revealed to be Aleris true king. King Elias Lowell has assumed position of Aleris' throne and will assist in the reconstruction of Grand City and the rest of Aleris' towns and cities. Though it was not explained in detail, the King did further comment to us that he was connected with the prior King Alerion but does not wish to disclose how at this time. The evidence to link King Elias' royal birth right to Aleris are the markings upon his forearms – symbols of the gods of our realm.
King Elias has also reported that each city will be distributed proper funding from Aleris' treasury to help rebuild although that is a very long road ahead of us.
As far as Deanna DiCorvino, it is said that she is to be executed and that her sentencing will be carried out early in the morning.
